Wait. No, no. This isn’t happening. You, River, and Reese were going on vacation. You were heading to San Diego to help a friend move into his house—and then you were gonna relax, learn how to surf, and eat all the good food.
I hear the words, but I can’t process them.
“Lane…Shay’s been kidnapped.”
Oh God, I’m gonna be sick.
“River and Reese are gonna find him. Do you hear me, sweetheart? They’re gonna find him.”
Nausea crawls up my throat, and panic sets in.
________
Pieces of You covers the time Shay was kidnapped in the Renegades, from the perspectives of Lane, Tate, Lucas, and Greer in the Game Series

PROLOGUE
Lane Madison
“Ty, we gotta go to San Diego sometime,” I said.
“Whenever you want, baby. Best Mexican food I’ve ever had in the US.”
“Right?!” I knew he’d understand.
Best husband ever.
“Hey, it’s still not too late,” Reese said from the back seat. “I’m sure our buddy could use more hands to carry moving boxes.”
I let out a laugh.
“Or we’ll go on our own, and we won’t have to carry anythin’ but our food,” Ty chuckled.
Let me repeat. Best husband ever.
I was still a little envious, though. Shay was gonna have a blast. I’d only been to the West Coast three times, but it was super fun with the waves they had out here. I wanted to learn how to surf too. With my limited experience, I would be lucky if I could stand upright for three seconds.
We got to the airport, and I jumped out of the truck to get a proper goodbye.
The elders took care of the luggage while I pulled Shay in for a tight hug.
“Eat all the food, and I’ll see you in a week,” I said. “You better have gained ten pounds in just chips, guacamole, and taquitos.”
He laughed and pressed a kiss to my neck. “I’ll send you some food porn.”
My mouth was already watering.
I smiled as he rested his forehead to mine. “Have all the fun, okay?”
“We will.”
Of course Reese chose that moment to take a photo of us.
“Beautiful boys. Wrap it up.” He pressed a quick kiss to the top of my head before he went over and landed a smooch to Ty’s cheek. “I’ll text you when we land.”
“Sounds good. If we don’t answer right away, we’re out in the wild somewhere turning your dogs against you,” Ty responded.
I laughed, and River chuckled under his breath and picked up his bag.
Shay shot Ty a scowl. “Don’t you dare, Sir.”
Daddy smirked and ruffled his hair. “I think you’re safe.”
Seriously. Shay adored his dogs—and it showed.
I slipped my hand into Ty’s.
“We’ll be here to pick you up in a week,” Ty added. “Bring us back T-shirts.”
River quirked a smirk and offered a two-finger wave.
“We’ll find the most outrageous, neon-colored tee just for you, buddy,” Reese replied and grabbed Shay’s hand. “See you in a week. Be good, Lane.”
“The appropriate amount of good, Sir.” I grinned and waved.
Then there were two.
I looked up at Daddy. “You realize we need to eat Mexican for dinner, right?”
“I’m ready to order right fuckin’ now.” He looped an arm around my neck and kissed the side of my head. “Let’s pick up the dogs, and then we’ll get food on the way home. I should have you naked with the coffee table full of food within the hour.”
Oof. Then we better step on it!
CHAPTER 1
Tate Madden
“Daddy! Daddy Lee, Daddy, Daddy!”
“Daddy, hi! Hi! Catch me!”
I grinned to myself and threw the rag on the counter before I left the kitchen. Just in time for me to see Kingsley scoop up the girls.
Daddy’s home.
That was the last time he worked overtime on a Saturday for the rest of the year—but it was worth it. We’d both pulled extra hours to pay off a family vacation coming up in October, and it was always nice to have everything square before we set foot on the cruise ship.
“How are my girls?” He peppered their faces with kisses, and they giggled and grabbed at his face. “I hear we’re going swimming at Grandma and Grandpa’s.”
“Yeah!” Zoe was the most excited. She may have been a fish in her former life.
My parents had a pool, and it was hot as balls out, so it suited me.
I walked over to him and managed to get a quick kiss in before Kaley and Zoe could land a stray fist in my face. They were freaking wild, those two.
“I made you a snack. I thought we could leave in twenty.”
