“Good morning. You’re cooking breakfast again?”

He looks at me through his lashes. “I got the impression you were a fan of my cooking.”

“I am.”

“But?” He lifts a brow.

“I don’t know. You’re worth trillions. I didn’t expect you to cook for me.”

He snorts. “I’m a big man. I get hungry at all types of hours. I’m not waking staff in the middle of the night because I want a steak or some pasta. I’m quite capable of feeding myself. My chef leaves things for me to heat up, but I’m not always in the mood for that. I actually enjoy cooking for myself. Besides, Carlos is on vacation, so I get to show off.” He winks.

I nod. “That makes sense.”

He places eggs on a plate, then moves to reach for me. He plants his hands on my waist and dips his head to kiss me. My toes curl in my shoes as I open to him, and he consumes every corner of my mouth.

When he breaks the kiss, he presses his lips to my forehead. “I also enjoy watching you eat. I want to hear you moan over my food.”

He steps back and grabs the two plates from the island before he heads for the table, gesturing with his head for me to follow. I drop my gaze to his ass.

Get it together, Sid. You need answers.

I shake my head clear. I don’t have time to be lusting after this man. I need to know what’s going on with getting my life back.

I take the seat opposite him and place my phone down, checking for the millionth time to see if Chloe has sent me a text. He pauses when he notices I’m not eating. Placing his fork down, he narrows his gaze on me.

“What is it?”

“Any news on my accounts? What’s going on with that warrant? Is that something I need to be worried about?”

“I’ll have your accounts restored by the end of the week. You don’t have to worry about that warrant or any other. I’ve had that all taken care of. For now, you can focus on wedding planning. I’m overseeing anything trying to make its way to you from here on out and you seem to have won my father over, so he’ll make it his business to look out for you as well.”

I purse my lips, wanting to say more. However, I have to admit, I’m more than relieved. I’ll be even more so when all my accounts are released.

I pick up my fork and start to eat. The flavors burst in my mouth. He really is a good cook.

“Tell me something, how did Delta know you could cook?”

“I’ve done some charities with kids, showing them how to cook. She’s on a few boards and committees.”

I nod as I take that answer in. He’s full of surprises. It had nagged at me yesterday to know how Delta knew so much about him, but I couldn’t ask while she was there.

“Where did you learn to cook?” I ask as I cover my mouth.

He picks up his napkin and wipes his mouth. I get caught in his gaze as I await an answer. This man can make anything sexy.

His presence pulls you in like a warm hug. I didn’t mean to open up so much last night, but he has a way of making me want to do things I wouldn’t normally do. It’s like I’m safe to be a Sid I can’t normally be.

“I told you last night about how we didn’t get to play much. Oscar, my parents’ chef, would put an apron on me and allow me to spend time in the kitchen with him. I picked some things up in travels later in life as well.”

I nod. “Does Oscar still work for your parents?”

“No, he retired. His son works for them now.”

“Do you need me for anything today?”

“No, I have to go into some meetings. David will be here with you.”

“Is that necessary?”

“Your place was bugged. Humor me for now.”

“What?” A chill runs through me as I feel totally violated.

“I had your place swept, and they found listening devices. I don’t know how much further this goes, so I’d prefer David be with you when I’m not.”

“And Ally and Chloe? Are they safe?”

“Chloe is with Gregor. She’s more than safe. Ally, I’m working on getting her situation under control.”

“Working to get it under control. What does that mean?”

“There have been some interesting developments I wasn’t aware of. I had planned for her to stay at Cane’s while he was away. I didn’t know of their connection, and it seems like her problem is somehow connected to Cane’s. I’m taking care of it.”

I start to rub my temples. I’m not getting straight answers and I know so much more is going on here.

“Why is this happening to me?” I say in almost a whisper.
