Sexy, seductive and hiding dark secrets, the Sassy Boyz return to the stage in Brave & Beautiful
There’s only one relationship that matters to Tameron "Tam" Kis—his love affair with dance. Life’s been pretty shitty, but dance got him through it and now he’s ready to focus on what he loves. He doesn’t have the bandwidth for any distractions—especially not his sexy, not-quite-straight new neighbor.
Driver Ellis doesn’t need anything but his bike and the open road. He wouldn’t trade his drifter lifestyle for anything…until his friend calls in a favor and Driver suddenly finds himself pet-sitting. Driver isn’t thrilled being stuck in one place, though things start to look up when he sets eyes on the gorgeous girl next door.
There’s just one problem… She isn’t a girl at all.
All it takes is one spontaneous dance to turn both Driver's and Tam’s worlds upside down. They might not have been looking for love, but as things heat up between them, it’s clear life has very different plans.

“How long will you stick around this time?” Brandon asked as he counted the day’s take from the cash register. The bills made flick-flick sounds as they hit the pile.

Driver picked up the last stool and put it upside down on the bar, without meeting his friend’s gaze. He hated that question. “I don’t know, Harrison is away for a month. Why?”

Every light was off except the two fluorescents overhead, but the colorful vibe of Stage Left couldn’t be dimmed. Broadway posters and theatrical colors melded with the old oak and classic brass to make Stage Left the ultimate theater pub. It was the place to sing with a chorus and unwind with headliners and crew alike. Brandon worked hard to keep it that way. After chasing out the final straggler, they’d locked the doors. Without all the creative energy filling it up, the place felt too quiet.

Brandon shifted on his feet but kept his eyes on the money as he continued the tally. “Kinda nice not having to do all this shit by myself for once.”

“And here I thought you missed me. All you want is slave labor.”

“Slaves don’t get a cut of the profits,” Brandon said, pushing a small stack of bills toward him. “If you’d commit to six months I could put you on the books and even get you benefits.”

Driver shuddered dramatically. “Fuck, but that sounds a lot like adulting.” He picked up the money and counted his share. Close to five hundred bucks for one night of bartending, on a weekday no less? He might have been out of the game a while, but that seemed high. He eyed Brandon. “I’m not a fucking charity case.”

“You earned it, fucker. Take it and shut up.”

Driver stuffed the stack of fifties into his pocket. “Thanks. And thanks for picking up the phone when I called.”

“Did you think I wouldn’t?”

“I haven’t exactly been the greatest friend lately.” Driver grabbed a discarded rag and began wiping down surfaces that had already been cleaned.

“True, you kind of suck.”

“Hey!” He threw the cloth at his friend, who caught it.

“Harsh but true.” Brandon tossed the damp rag back. “But, I’m a saint, so...”

“Yeah, Saint Brando, all fucking heart.”

Brandon laughed. “Think I could get a plaque?”

“Seriously though, thanks.” Driver had lost too many friends over the years, but the bond between him, Brandon, and Harrison ran deep like the roots of the old oak they used to climb.

“You’d do the same for me or Harrison.” Brandon walked into his office to stash the rest of the cash in a wall safe, and Driver followed. “Want to crash here?”

“Nah, I gotta get back to feed Michelangelo. Plus, I stink like a beer-soaked ashtray. I’m gonna take advantage of the obscene hour and do some laundry.” Driver grabbed his helmet from behind the bar.

“All right, see you tomorrow?” Hesitant.

Apprehension tightened Driver’s core. This floating from couch to couch and job to job shit took its toll. And not always on him. He’d gotten used to the uncertainty—the freedom. But his friendships suffered. Those few he had left were more precious than gold.

Still, he looked into his friend’s eyes and answered the way he always had before. “No promises.”

Brandon sighed. “Right, can’t cage the bird.”

“Don’t start.”

Together they crossed to the front doors. “I’m just saying, some people find it comforting to have a home to come back to.”

“I can’t.”

“You could.”

Tension hunched Driver’s shoulders and clenched his jaw, because he knew what Brandon would say next.

“Have you called them yet?” Brandon asked, predictable as the fucking sun.

It wasn’t like he was avoiding his grandparents—much. He’d just arrived in the city that morning. He hadn’t had time to call them. His silence was all the answer Brandon needed to get on his case.

“Shit, D, they’re your family.”

“I will.”

“Sure.” Like he didn’t believe it. Like he knew exactly what Driver was thinking even though he couldn’t. He might have been there but he hadn’t lived it.

“Fuck you, I said I will.”

Brandon unlocked the door and held it open. “I’ll see you when I see you then.”

Damn, it was cold outside. A burst of icy wind hit him in the face and he sucked in a quick breath. Driver shoved his empty hand into his jeans pocket to keep it warm. The Zippo he always carried was cold against his knuckles. He pulled it out and flicked it open. No flame sparked to life. It was long dead, but he hadn’t been able to break the habit. It reminded him why he couldn’t settle down, why he couldn’t live a normal life.

“See you when I see you,” Driver repeated.

The sharp click of the lock sounded like an exhaust backfire behind him. It was the termination of an argument they’d been having for years.

The neon billboards flashed ads and posters for the latest musical hit, casting colorful auras through the heavy fog that hung over the city. New York in early November was a special experience, early enough in the season that leaves still clung desperately to the trees, displaying their vibrant colors like badges of honor. The holidays were just around the corner and already you could feel the spirit in the air.
Hop Lovette isn’t afraid to take risks. Being the bastard son of New York royalty has never given him anything but heartache. So when the Sassy Boyz land a contract at club Switch, he knows it’s only a matter of time before his marvelous world is turned on its head: the owner is his childhood rival.

Rafe Marson owes Hop’s father everything, and he’s on a mission to repay his debts. Nothing will stand in his way—not even a wild, beautiful, maddening blast from his past. Not even when Hop stirs up feelings better left dormant. Not even when Hop begs to be taken.

When opportunity knocks, Hop is the one who needs to step up and help Rafe. But working together without being together is harder than they thought—and when everything they’ve been working toward is threatened, Rafe will need to prove that true love is one in a million.

Rafe hung up the phone and sat back with a relieved sigh. They were one step closer.

It seemed like he’d been working toward this goal forever even though it’d only been three years since his club, Switch, had opened.

“Well?” Mark asked from his spot across Rafe’s polished metal desk. Mark was more than the club’s general manager; he was a good friend and confidant.

“We’re in the running.” A smile stretched his cheeks. “They want to see our proposal a week from today.”

“Shit, a week? That’s not enough time.”

It was a lot to ask, but this was their chance to host a fashion week extravaganza. It’d mean exposure. It’d mean a huge contract with an influential new client and introductions to at least a dozen more. It’d mean paying off his debts and being released from Roland Lockwood’s control.

“Let me bask for a minute, would you?” Rafe stared at the mirrored ceiling of his office, ignoring his tired reflection, the pleasure of having finally gotten this chance still coursing through his veins. Nothing, not even Mark’s pragmatism, would dull the sense of accomplishment.

“Sorry, sorry.” Mark held his palms up. “You’re right. Take it in, you deserve it.”

“We deserve it.”

“This is all you, boss.”

“Don’t be modest. These last three years wouldn’t have gone half as smoothly without you running the day to day, and you know it.”

“Remember that when I ask for a raise.” Mark grinned. “Seriously, you should be proud of yourself. This is a big deal and you managed it two years before your projections.”

“I’m nothing if not persistent.”

Mark’s laugh was straight from his core. “Which is another word for dog-headed, right?”

Rafe’s answering grin was all teeth. “All we have to do is nail the presentation.”

“On that note, what are you thinking?”

“Parker Prince fancies himself the next Marco Morante and we’re going to target his dream. I’m thinking major branding, big names, neon colors, lots of skin to titillate, artistic and modern with a sleek sexy edge. Push the envelope, you know?”

“Like a 90s Rave and Cirque du Soleil had a baby?”

“And it’s an androgynous alien masterpiece of rapture and frenzy.”

The corner of Mark’s mouth tipped up. “Genius.”

“Let’s hope our competition isn’t.”

“Any idea which clubs we’re up against?”

Rafe scratched his jaw. “Only suspicions.” He paused wondering exactly how short this shortlist was and who was on it with them. “Let’s keep this under wraps until the contract is signed.”

Mark tilted his head. “Even from the staff and talent?”

A single nod, hard and uncompromising. “For now.”

“Whatever you say.” Mark didn’t bother hiding his eye roll.

“You think I’m paranoid.”

“You think I’m gullible.”

“Not gullible, trusting.”

“Same thing.” Mark frowned.

“I don’t want to take any chances. I know the kind of temptation other owners could present.” Especially if his hunch was correct—and it usually was. His wasn’t the only club in the city bankrolled by the Lockwood fortune. “Until we’re sure, no one but you and I know how close we are to landing the Prince launch party.”

“So what are we supposed to tell the performers when they ask why they need to come up with new routines in less than a week?”

Rafe steepled his fingers. “Tell them we’re planning a themed event or we want to see what they can come up with on short notice. I don’t know.” He waved his hand. “Tell them whatever you want, except the truth.”

Mark sucked his teeth, obviously unhappy. Too honest for his own good, Mark always complied, but never quietly. Rafe resigned himself to weeks of Mark’s complaining because landing this gig was more important than pandering to the staff’s sensitivities. Deep down, Mark understood too, which was likely why he kept his mouth shut—for now.

They couldn’t afford to be anything but ruthless. The waters Rafe navigated, and had for the past fifteen years, were teeming with vicious bloodthirsty sharks. They’d taken a bite out of him more than once when he’d been naive, and even his benefactor’s influence hadn’t stopped the hemorrhaging. He wouldn’t let it happen again. He had too much on the line this time, too many people counted on him, too many years lost and effort put in, too much goddamn money spent for his plans to go down in flames for the sake of being nice.

Nice was no longer part of Rafe’s vocabulary anyway. After all, he’d learned from the best. He liked meticulous and professional far better. Nice was useless. Nice was weak.

Nice was submissive.

With an internal grunt, he straightened his tie and sat forward. “Let’s get started.”

* * *

Music.

It was in his blood. The rhythmic beat was his heart—his life. It was so loud it shook the walls and rippled through his pulse. The glass-paneled floor flashed with colorful lights, and above them spun a dazzling swirl of beams and shadows. Switch was a psychedelic paradise where his inner troublemaker felt right at home.
The first in a scorching new male/male series by Elizabeth Varlet. Behind the Sassy Boyz's seductive smiles and sinful dance moves are desires that will leave readers breathless. Fitch Donovan never thought a lap dance could change his life, but from the moment the gorgeous dancer's lips touch his, his world comes screeching to a halt. No matter how hard he tries, he can't shake the desire that rocks him to his core. He's longed for this passion all his life—he just never dreamed he'd find it with another man.

Sharing a soul-shaking kiss with a straight boy is the kind of drama Ansel Becke just doesn't need. Spotlights aren't made for two and Ansel prefers to keep things on a one-night-only basis. So when Fitch shows up asking for an encore, Ansel knows he should send his gorgeous ass packing.

Though Ansel tries to pretend that what's between him and Fitch is far from fabulous, there's something about the big, burly contractor that makes Ansel's world sparkle in a way no amount of glitter ever could. And Fitch will do whatever it takes to convince Ansel that when the thing you need most in the world falls right into your lap, you'd be a fool to let it go.

A gay bar.

Of course it was a gay bar.

He should have known. Because only his sister would choose to celebrate her twenty-first birthday party in a gay bar.

Fitch sighed and scratched his jaw. Why couldn’t it have been a lesbian bar? They had those, right?

Then again, he wouldn’t have gotten any enjoyment in one of those either. Meg had ruined the whole lesbian-fantasy thing when she’d come out at fourteen. There was no pleasure in imagining two hot chicks doing nasty, beautiful things to each other when one of them kept morphing into your sister.

Fitch barely suppressed a shudder at the thought, but no one noticed. Not Meg or her friends, who were all too busy drinking and laughing and shouting over the thundering music to notice how uncomfortable he was.

A straight man in a gay club in New York City. He wasn’t the first, obviously, but he felt like it. He hunched over the Coke he’d been nursing for the past half hour and tried his best to ignore the interested stares he was getting. If his buddies could see him now they’d shit their pants laughing and then volunteer to kick some ass with him just as a matter of loyalty. As if he needed to protect his delicate manly sensibilities by resorting to physical violence.

He sighed.

No, he’d just have to suffer in silence.

The place was so dark it should have been impossible to catch anyone’s eye, but the rainbow laser light-beams moved in time with the strobe’s beat to create a disconcerting kaleidoscope effect that provided just enough light and just enough headache-inducing delirium for him to feel kind of trippy even though he was stone-cold sober.

Another sip of warm Coke didn’t help. And neither did the shadows or the uncomfortable hunch.

He couldn’t have stood out more if he’d had a blinking neon sign over his head.

The Vibe. If he’d been smart he would have said no as soon as Meg mentioned the name of the place. Then again, he’d never been able to say no to his baby sister. She was a devil with sweet eyes and he’d been devoted to her ever since she was born. Even if all she ever did was torture him.

“If you don’t cheer up I’m going to tell Mom,” Meg bellowed into his ear.

He looked up just in time to see her school her smile into a frown. Her hazel eyes reflected the rainbow lights and glittered back at him with an overly glossy veneer. Her cheeks were flushed and her lips twitched just enough to make him laugh. She’d always been a terrible liar.

“You are such a brat,” he said.

“Shut up, you love me.” Her giggle was slightly crazed.

“You’re drunk.”

She smiled and nudged his shoulder with her own. “I’m twenty-one, big bro! That’s the whole point.”

On his twenty-first he’d gone overboard with the Jack Daniel’s and ended up puking his guts out two hours into the party. The hangover had put him off the stuff for years. The way Meg was headed she’d be having a similar experience and the idea made everything else worth it.

“Sure, just remember that when Tara is holding your hair back and you’re worshiping the porcelain god.”

She pffted at him and turned to kiss Tara.

Jesus, she hadn’t even warned him. She really was a brat.

To avoid watching his baby sister make out, he turned toward the crowded dance floor. So much skin, so many grinding masculine bodies moving to the pop hit-slash-techno beat like the music put them into some kind of trance. Either the DJ was a wizard or the dancers were all caught in a lust frenzy. And the DJ was no wizard.

He rubbed his temple and considered heading to the bar to refresh his Coke, but the last time he’d done that he’d been hit on by three guys, all of them half-naked and young. Too young. And none of them had taken his “Sorry, I’m straight” as anything but a challenge. Better to just avoid the situation and hope the waiter would come by soon.

The music faded and the DJ’s voice came through the speakers. “And now it’s time for a treat. Put your hands together for the hottest show in New York City. Give it up, for the Sassy Boyz!”

Beside him, Meg squealed as the rest of the club erupted into cheers and turned to face a stage he hadn’t even noticed. The intro music started and the curtains slowly rose.

“Oh my God, they’re doing Jessie J’s ‘Do It Like A Dude’! I saw a clip of this one on YouTube, it’s awesome,” his sister exclaimed, practically bouncing in her seat.

“Jesus, you’d think you were at a Beyoncé concert instead of a drag show.” He shook his head at her.

Across the table her friend leaned forward. “It’s not a drag show. They’re not queens.”
Z doesn't need a hero… Azariah "Z" Hayes is a diamond. Equal parts strength and sparkle, he's more than capable of standing on his own stilettos. So if waiting tables and stripping at The Vibe are what it takes to keep a roof over his head, well, there are worse ways to earn a living.

Connelly is a white knight with a badge… For NYPD detective Connelly Reid, to serve and protect is just another day at the office—even if that means protecting himself from his own true desires. He's been curious about Z, his waiter, for months, but it's not until he sees him in his makeup and heels that the curiosity becomes a fierce attraction. Z, despite all his over-the-top dazzle, might just be the man Connelly has been waiting for his entire life.

But when Connelly investigates underground porn and drug activity with ties to The Vibe, one thing becomes very clear—acting on what he knows is going to hurt Z, financially and emotionally. And though Connelly would love nothing more than to fix all of Z's problems, no amount of mind-blowing sex can make Z comfortable becoming dependent on his lover. Yet if there's one thing Connelly knows from his years on the force, it's this: when things go bad, you need a trusted partner to have your back.

His phone rang. Connelly didn’t bother glancing at the screen to check who was calling. It could only be one person.

“Hi, Janie,” he said. “What’s the problem now?”

“I don’t know. I think there’s something wrong with the water heater. We can’t get any hot water in the shower.” Even though his sister’s tone was apologetic, it was also tinged with frustration. She’d break down soon if he didn’t help her out. Janie wasn’t good with stress. Or adult responsibility beyond the day-to-day care of her two boys.

He stopped midstride, pinched the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes. The last thing he needed was to spend the rest of his afternoon fixing her problems—plural—because he knew there’d be more once he got out there.

It had already been a tough day. He and Raoul had finally closed the robbery case they’d been working for weeks, but it had come at a cost. The thug they’d been chasing had stabbed a tourist in the stomach. The guy was in the ICU getting prepped for surgery now. Plus, they’d been assigned to an ongoing burglary case because Martin and Hopkins were getting nowhere, which put a shitload of tension between them. Of course they didn’t think they needed help and resented the captain’s orders.

He didn’t want to think about all the other cases piling up on his desk while he tried to tiptoe around their bruised egos. It’d been a shit day, plain and simple.

Connelly just wanted lunch. Was that too much to ask? The busy sounds of the city swirled around him like the chaotic symphony that it was. Car horns blaring, people shouting and sirens ringing in the distance. If he listened hard enough he could probably make out the low rumble of the subway. Maybe that was his stomach. He’d been headed to his favorite diner but it looked like that was out of the question now.

He turned on his heels ready to head back to his car. “I’ll—” He barely kept a grip on his phone as he collided with something solid.

“Fuck.”

Without thinking Connelly flung his arm out and wrapped it around the slim woman who was seconds away from falling. A breath later that body didn’t seem so slim—it was lithe and firm and solid against his own. He looked down into startled eyes framed by the thickest lashes he’d ever seen. Jesus, he’d never been into women but this lady was gorgeous.

His lips parted on a breath. “Sorry,” he said. “I didn’t see you.”

Something nagged at the back of Connelly’s mind even as the stranger’s lush mouth thinned into an irritated frown.

“You can let me go now,” she said.

That voice. There was something about that voice. It shivered down Connelly’s spine in a way that had his grip around her waist tightening instead of releasing.

“Don’t make me knee you in the balls, Hot Fudge.”

It wasn’t unusual to meet a woman who cursed like a sailor, not in New York City, but what was with the nickname?

Something didn’t sit right.

All his detective warning bells went off as he let the stranger go. Absently, he pushed End on his phone screen and shoved it in his pocket.

He studied the woman as he stepped away. She was about five foot six, wearing purple knee-high boots, tight-as-sin jeans and a loose black T-shirt with glittering ruby-red lips on the front. It was loose enough that it hung off one shoulder to reveal smooth pale skin. But, as provocative as the outfit was, it was the silky long black hair, thick lashes and deep red lipstick that confused the shit out of Connelly.

Because he could have sworn he knew that voice.

“Are you okay?” Connelly asked.

She searched the ground as the crowd parted around them, and didn’t bother looking up to reply. “No thanks to you.”

“Do I know you?”

She glanced up with a scowl. “Maybe.” Those painted lips transformed into a condescending smirk. A second later, the search continued and those dark eyes were refocused.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

The stranger picked up a cell phone from the gravelly sidewalk. “Thank fuck.” The sigh of relief tickled more than Connelly’s oversensitive nerves and for a moment he couldn’t blink.

“Azariah?” No. It couldn’t be...could it?

The waiter. His waiter.

He didn’t look familiar at all. Instead he looked...wicked. Tempting.

Holy fuck.

Something must have given his secret thoughts away because those luscious lips tipped up in a wry smile that lit Connelly up like a torch soaked in gasoline.

“What’s wrong, Hot Fudge, choke on your own tongue?” His sinful laugh was full of amusement and a little grit, but mostly scorn.

This was a rock star—full impact, aggressive and beautiful. There wasn’t anything average about him now. For a guy who claimed to be great at his job, Connelly was having a difficult time merging the two versions. They didn’t fit and it was disturbing his need for everything to make sense.
