Some men are born drifters. Others are just waiting to find their way home.
Wall Street Journal and USA Today Best Seller L. Wilder brings you a new addition to the Satan’s Fury MC- Little Rock series that will have you rooting for new beginnings.
Loss is tough.
Some learn to live with the grief and move on.
I couldn’t.
There were too many memories.
It hurt too much, so I packed up and left.
I spent years trying to outrun my ghosts
And then, a threat drew me back in.
It wasn’t my fight.
Hell, it wasn’t even my chapter.
I was only in Little Rock to deliver a warning.
I never intended to stay.
And I certainly never intended to meet her.
She was beautiful and soft in all the ways that can undo a man.
And she unraveled me without even trying.
I had no business getting tied up with her, but I couldn’t stay away.
She reminded me what it was like to have something worth living for.
Now, I had to make a choice.
Stay lost or find my way home

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

CHARACTER LIST:

Preacher- (Hudson) President

I’d been out riding, minding my own business and taking in the sunshine, and it came time to fill up the tank. I pulled into the gas station and parked next to the pump like I’d done a million times, and as soon as I took off my helmet, I opened my saddle bag for my wallet.

I reached in without thinking, and my knuckles brushed up against the small bear I kept tucked inside. I don’t know why I kept it. I should’ve tossed it years ago, but I never could seem to part with the damn thing.

I picked it up and ran the pad of my thumb along its back. Its fur wasn’t as soft as it used to be. It wasn’t quite as white either. And its tiny shirt was now nothing more than worn patches.

It might’ve been old and tattered, but it still brought the same sting, taking me back to a time I’d tried to put behind me.

I could almost feel their presence in the air--could almost hear her singing to him, the sound of her voice low and soft.

‘A bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck.’

God, how I missed that sound, along with his giggling in the background. He was always laughing and smiling and tangling his little fingers in my beard.

‘A hug around the neck and a barrel and a heap.’

They filled my dark world with light and joy. That was something I thought I would never truly find or even want, but they made me long for it.

‘A barrel and a heap, and I’m talking in my sleep about you.’

And now, it was gone.

My throat tightened as the silence settled around me.

Somewhere in the distance, there were cars driving by and people carrying on their lives. They were reminders that the world kept turning, but some wounds don’t move with it.

They stay, and they burrow deep, never letting go.

It had been five years, long enough for the ache to dull, but it hadn’t. I doubted it ever would. And I was okay with that. I didn’t want to forget.

I wanted to remember. I wanted to remember every damn second.

I had it all back then.

A club full of brothers who’d give their lives to protect mine. A woman who looked at me like I was something better than I could’ve ever thought of being, and a kid who had a smile that had a way of breaking my heart and putting it back together again all at the same time.

I had a family. A home. Something to look forward to at the end of a long day. I closed my fist around the toy, pressing it into my hand as the memory cut through me all over again.

One blink.

That’s all it took.

One second, I had it all, and the next, it was ripped from me so fast that there was nothing left but smoke, blood, and the kind of gut-wrenching heartache that never goes away. Not completely.

I made them pay for what they did.

God help me, I made them pay.

One by one, I hunted them down like the animals they were. I could still hear the sounds of cracking bones, the wet choke of their final breaths, and the way my rage burned hot enough to blur out the grief.

At least, for a little while.

Killing them should’ve been enough.

It wasn’t.

It didn’t bring the laughter back. It didn’t warm the empty side of the bed or fill the house with her scent. And it sure as hell didn’t bring back his little fingers wrapped around mine.

I opened my hand again and stared down at the tiny bear he once held. I ran my fingers over it again, slower this time, chasing a memory that was just out of reach. I shook my head as the old anger rose deep within, dark and familiar, curling low in my gut. It had lived there for almost five years. Most days, I was able to keep it locked down.

I buried it under miles of asphalt and the steady rumble of my bike.

But tonight it resurfaced in full force, leaving me wondering what the hell to do with it. Damn. The cycle never seemed to end.

But who knows. Maybe tomorrow will be different.

Maybe tomorrow I’ll finally be able to take in a breath without feeling the ache of guilt rattling in my chest. Only time would tell.

Zeke- New Prospect

PROLOGUE

You ever notice how, in a family with two or more brothers, one of them usually ends up with a better deal? Better hair. Better looks. Better everything?

Yeah. That was me.

And there’s also one who’s more charming and likeable.

More athletic and can just do shit without trying.

Also, me.

I didn’t ask for it. I didn’t even make a big deal about. It was just the way it was. It was like the good Lord dropped me on Earth and said, “Here ya go, kid. Try not to cause too much trouble.”

And I did try, but trouble seemed to follow me like a bad itch.

Girls, school, and everything in between. I’d start with just a little scratch, and the next thing you know, I was deep down in the thick of it. I couldn’t seem to help myself, but I always managed to weasel out of it, except when it came to my brother.

Davis wasn’t an ugly guy.

He wasn’t stupid, either.

He just… wasn’t me.

And that seemed to piss him the hell off. He was older and bigger, and he was as strong-willed as they came. And he was determined to make my life as miserable as his, and he used his fists to do it. Hell, he’d beat the shit out of me just for shits and giggles.

I tried.

I didn’t just sit back and let him stew in whatever storm he’d built in his head. I went out of my way to try to even the scales. I’d draw attention to good things he’d done and try to get the folks to toss him a compliment or let him take the lead on things. I thought it would soften the blow of my just existing, but it didn’t matter.

Davis was set on hating me, and nothing I could do or say was going to change his mind. And when our mom died, everything went sideways. My brother’s disdain for me grew to a whole new level.

He couldn’t seem to get it through his thick head that I’d lost her, too.

That I was a wreck, too.

He acted like I’d taken something from him, and I’d done it on purpose. I wanted to be there for him and hoped he’d be there for me in return. I loved Davis. Still do. In whatever messed-up way, you love someone who keeps shoving your face in the dirt. I never gave up trying. Not when he started spiraling. Not even when he got arrested for the first time.

And you want to know how stupid I was?

I actually used my college money to bail him out. I used every last cent. I thought it might change things between us, and he’d see that I was his brother, not some enemy he’d made up in his head. But it only made him hate me more.

Life’s funny like that.

You can give someone everything you’ve got, love them till the bitter end, and you’ll still end up the villain in their story.

1

GOOSE

“He moves like a fridge with legs.”

“Who?”

“Deen.” I crossed my arms and watched Sergie’s head guard prowl the floor like a pissed-off rhino. He was a big bastard with a thick neck and a handlebar mustache, and he sported an angry glare that made him look like he was personally offended by everything, including the existence of air. “He’s just so damn big and mean. Why’s he gotta be so mean?”

“Don’t know what you’re talking about. He’s been nothing but nice to me,” Memphis goaded. “Must be you.”

“You’re full of shit.”

The casino was finally calming down, and the midnight crowds were tapering down to a few stragglers. Memphis, Creed, and I were posted at the front entrance like we owned the damn place. I was more than ready to call it a night and seeing Deen’s smug expression was getting on my last nerve. “Don’t see why he couldn’t have hired someone with a little personality.”

“Missing Bog again?” Creed teased.

And yeah, it stung a little.

Not just for me, but for all of us.

Bog had been a beast, too, but he had a way about him. He didn’t have to stomp around like he was waiting for trouble to tap him on the shoulder. He was quiet and loyal, and he was as fierce as they came. You could tell that by the way he carried himself and the way he spoke.

He would’ve given his life for any one of us, and he did.

It was a time when everyone came together, and for a brief moment, there were no worries of outside threats or jobs that needed to be done. It was a time when we could all just sit back and catch our breath. There was always music and laughter rolling through the halls, and a bonfire roaring high in the background.

It felt like home.

It was home.

It had been since I could walk.

My ol’ man was the club’s enforcer, and these men and their ol’ ladies and kids were my family. I loved being at the clubhouse, even when it got a bit chaotic. And during a party, it was about as chaotic as it could get.

Kids were running around, and the guys were arguing over the meat on the grill. Dad and Jenna were sitting on the swing, and Goose and Rusty had already broken into the tequila, getting more obnoxious by the second. But no one seemed to mind. Not even Prez.

He and Tabitha were too busy talking with Memphis and Antonia about how round her belly had gotten to care about what anyone else was doing. She was expecting any minute, and they were all busting at the seams about it. Ghost and Casey were expecting, too. I didn’t figure it would be long before Seven and Tallie would be following suit.

Life was good.

It should’ve felt perfect.

Hell, by all accounts, it was. I had my brothers, a full plate, a cold beer, and the kind of family most people can only dream about. But sitting there, watching the chaos and joy, there was a quiet ache in my chest that I couldn’t place.

Like something was missing.

Maybe it was seeing my old man so damn content. He was a hard ass who’d put his life on the line for his brothers. The club was all he really had. It was the only thing that ever really mattered to him, until he found Jenna. She became his reason to breathe. I wasn’t jealous. I was happy for the man.

But I was becoming restless.

I was twenty-four, going on twenty-five, and even though I was surrounded by everything I’d ever wanted, I found myself longing for more. I didn’t know what that meant, but that night, when I headed home, I swear the air felt different.

It was like the world was holding its breath, and when I came up on that dark stretch of road and spotted her standing beside that broken-down car with her little girl propped up on her hip, I realized that thing I was missing hadn’t been a thing after all.

It was them.

1

SKID

Fall was just starting to settle over the city in that moody way it always did. The trees were just starting to turn burnt orange and crimson red, and while they were pretty and all, the weather was a real pain in the ass. One day, it was sunny and warm, and the next, it was raining its ass off. The air stayed crisp, and every breeze carried a little bite of winter.

Those sunny days were some of the best for riding. I went out on my Harley as often as I could, but most of my time was split between the casino and the Vault. My shifts were filled with security, deliveries, and quiet favors. I didn’t mind it. It helped keep my head straight.

When I wasn’t working or riding with the boys, I was in my garage, elbow-deep in grease and motorcycle parts. I’d been busting my ass to restore my dad’s old ’77 Harley Super Glide. She was all rust and full of promise, and I was determined to get her back and running.

But it wasn’t going all that well.

It was hard to find parts, and even when I did, they were high as hell.

Pop said I was wasting my time, but there was something about bringing that old girl back that steadied me. I needed that today, so I headed out to the garage and got to work. There were parts scattered all over my garage, and I wasn’t sure where I wanted to start. I was thinking it through when the side door opened and Dad walked in. “Hey, Pop. Didn’t know you were coming by.”

“Wasn’t planning on it, but Luna wanted to see ya.”

He’d barely said her name when she popped her head inside the garage. She was wearing pink overalls, and her hair was braided into pigtails. She was all smiles as she made her way over to me and said, “Hey, Bub.”
New York Times and USA Today Best Seller L. Wilder brings a new mafia crossover for readers who like their men loyal, their stakes high, and their love worth fighting for.

Cold. Ruthless. Cruel.
Those were the words used to describe my father.
I was just like him. I had to be.
I was a legacy in the making.
But when he died, I didn’t take his crown.
I walked away and built an empire from the ashes I’d left behind.

But the bratva never truly lets go of a man.
I learned that when Alina showed up at my door.
She was beautiful with ghosts at her heels and fire in her eyes.
One look and I was done for.
We were from the same world.
We knew the rules.

Betrayal was the ultimate sin.
Someone would pay.

While this book follows Sergei and the Volkov brothers, their story unfolds in the Satan’s Fury world. Familiar faces make appearances, but you don’t have to read the Satan’s Fury series to dive into this one. There is no cheating and ends with an HEA

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PROLOGUE

Iwas eight when I found out what kind of man my father really was.

Not just from the stories or rumors.

Not from the whispered warnings from my mother or the house staff.

Not even from the fearful tension that followed him around like a dark shadow.

That night, I saw it for myself.

It was late. I should’ve been in bed hours ago, but I was feeling restless and couldn’t sleep. I decided to make a run to the kitchen. I started down the stairs, and each step seemed to groan under my bare feet. It didn’t matter how many nightlights my mother put out; the house always felt big and cold, empty and dark.

Especially back then.

Maybe it was my overactive imagination or the fact that I was just an all-around nervous kid, but the place had always given me the creeps. It didn’t help matters that I knew there’d be hell to pay if my father caught me out of my room.

He was a stickler for the rules and was heavy with the hand whenever you stepped out of line. I was supposed to be in my room and in my bed, sound asleep. He wouldn’t care that I’d spent the past two hours tossing and turning and had all but fallen out of bed. He’d made the rule, and his rules were to be followed.

I was already scared. It didn’t help matters that the house was quiet. It was like it was holding its breath. My stomach knotted, and my skin prickled as if the air itself knew something I didn’t. Then I heard it. The low, sharp tone of my father’s voice.

The second I heard it, I knew I’d been right.

Something was wrong.

I stopped cold and held my breath, and I quickly determined that his voice was coming from his office. That room was sacred ground. My brothers and I were never allowed in there or even near it, but there was something about the tone in the man’s voice that made me inch closer.

That’s when I noticed the door wasn’t closed all the way. I leaned to the side, taking a peek through the crack, and saw Yuri kneeling in front of my father. He was one of my father’s businessmen who’d worked for him for years. He drove a black Benz and used to sneak me chocolate when no one was looking.

I liked him.

He seemed like a good, decent guy, and I couldn’t understand why he was kneeling in front of my father with tears in his eyes. Then, I heard my father roar, “You think because we are in America, my rules no longer apply?”

He was speaking Russian. It was something he did when he was truly angry. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the man brought his hands up with his palms together like he was praying for the lord above him to take mercy. “No! No! I would never go against you.”

“But you did.” My father’s tone dropped to a low, menacing level as he snarled, “And you must pay for your betrayal.”

“Please. I beg of you,” Yuri cried. “It was a mistake. I meant no disrespect.”

“No disrespect?” My chest tightened when he stepped into my line of sight. His sleeves were rolled just past his big, silver watch, and his tie was loose around his neck. He looked more like a banker than a killer, but that only made it worse. The vein in his neck pulsed as he growled, “I brought you in. I treated you like family, and you stole from me! You stole from the family! Do you know what that means, Bratan?”

“Please. I’m sorry.” Tears filled Yuri’s eyes. “My family—”

“My family! My name,” my father interrupted. “No more of this nonsense!”

Then he looked to Max and gave him a nod. Max was one of my father’s most trusted guards, and as usual, he was standing in the corner, stone-faced and silent. He was always silent. Always watching. He reached into the sheath attached to the side of his pants pocket and pulled out a knife with a wooden handle and a straight, narrow blade with a slight curve. His face was void of expression as he stepped forward.

“Hmm?”

“Preacher...” That familiar blush crept across her bare chest as she tilted her head back and let out a needful sigh. “Did you talk to him?”

I didn’t answer.

Answering would mean I would have to move my mouth, and at the moment, I was doing my damnedest to make my lady come. She was sprawled back on my bed with her knees up and her back arched, and if her ragged breath was any indication, I was succeeding in my endeavors.

I hoped it would be enough to disrupt her train of thought, so I kept at it. Teasing and tormenting in the way that I knew got to her the most. I almost had her to the breaking point when she suddenly inched her hips back, breaking the latch on her clit. “You didn’t, did you?”

“Come on, baby. Do we really gotta talk about this now?”

“Yeah, actually, we do.” She rolled to her side before reaching down and grabbing her panties from the floor, hastily jerking them up her legs. “This is just a waste of time.”

“I don’t know. I thought we were making pretty good use of time until about two seconds ago.”

“You promised.”

And just like that, my dick went limp, and my hopes for a sated, restful afternoon shot out the door.

Damn.

“You make it sound like I had a choice in the matter.”

“You did!”

“I didn’t.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“You don’t get it.”

“You’re right. I don’t.” She threw her hands up. “You have an entire life filled with people you clearly love and want to protect, but you won’t share them with me. I just get little snippets of stories or pictures on your phone, and that’s not fair.”

“It’s complicated.”

Devin was a five-foot-ten absolute stunner with a mouth that could cut me down just as fast as it could make me beg. I’d never met a woman like her. She was headstrong and had a drive in her to succeed in whatever she wanted. Didn’t matter how hard or out of reach something might’ve been. If she wanted it, she was going to go after it.

And for just over two years, I was what she’d wanted.

She loved me hard and loved me good. Better than anyone had before, and I wanted her. God, how I wanted her.

But God liked to look down on me and laugh at the fuckery that was my life. He knew when he sent her walking into that bar with that short damn mini-skirt and barely-there tank top that she was a cop, and I couldn’t have her.

Most men wouldn’t have cared that a smoking hot chick like her wore a badge, but I wasn’t most guys. I was a member of one of the most notorious MCs in the South, and I’d fought hard to get there. I couldn’t jeopardize their lives and mine by bringing a cop into the fold. It wouldn’t just be dangerous. It would be a betrayal, and even though I loved her, I couldn’t let that happen.

She leaned in and rested her head on my shoulder. She would never say it, but she was hurting. I could feel it in my bones, and it killed me that I couldn’t do anything about it. “I love you, Jameson.”

“I love you, too.”

“Then, why haven’t you talked to him?”

I didn’t answer right away.

I just stared across the room like I was trying to think of the right thing to say. My gut twisted as I dragged my hand over my face. "This isn’t the right time, Devin. There’s too much shit going on."

That wasn’t a lie.

Fury was working hard to make a name for itself and the Vault, and rival clubs weren’t making it easy. Tensions were high, and we couldn’t afford any distractions. Couldn’t afford any weaknesses. This thing we had going on was both.

She shifted her body, and I immediately missed the warmth of her skin next to mine. "You always say that. Another time. Another day.”

"You know I care about you."

"I do." She gave me a soft smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes. “And I care about you.”

“We’ve got a good thing here.”

“We do. We really do; I was just hoping for something more.”

I could’ve told her how I really felt.

I could’ve told her that if life were different, if I wasn’t who I was, and if she didn’t have that badge, I’d claim her and put a ring on her finger. But those words wouldn’t change anything. I knew it. She knew it, too. No matter what either of us felt, there would come a time when one of us would have to test our love against our loyalties.
New York Times and USA Today Best Seller L. Wilder brings readers a new Satan's Fury series that is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat.

They say time heals all wounds.
Clearly, they don’t know what they’re talking about.

I’ve got scars that run so deep they’ll never fade.
Each of them hurt like hell.
But none compared to the pain of losing her.

She was my world.
It nearly broke me when they sent her away.
I was left with no choice but to move on.

I built a new life and became the Sergeant at Arms of Fury.
My brothers were my family now, and my loyalty was to them.
Then, she came back.

And now I’m questioning everything.
Past and present.

Seven s is a standalone MC romance with a group of foul-mouthed, possessive alphas who will do whatever it takes to protect the women they love. There are some heavy topics in this story, but rest assured, the HEA will have you begging for more. No cliffhanger and no cheating. Enjoy the ride

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PROLOGUE

I’d done it.

I’d finally done it.

I wasn’t sure I’d ever pull it off, but I did.

I made it through officer’s training and had just been accepted into pilot school. It was something I’d been working for since Tallie and I started getting serious. It was a way for me to give her the life she deserved. She and I came from two different worlds. Her folks were very well off and lived a life of luxury whereas my parents barely had two pennies to rub together.

I met her brother Rooks while playing football in middle school. He was the quarterback, and I was his wide receiver. Even though he was two years older than me, it didn’t take long for a friendship to develop, and before I knew it, I was at his house more than I was my own. At first, I was too focused on Rooks and football to even notice Tallie, but once I did, there was no turning back.

I convinced Rooks to let me take her out, and the rest was history. We fell hard and fast, and it wasn’t long before we started making plans for the future. Being accepted into the pilot school meant I was one step closer to flying and being able to provide her with the life she’d grown up with. I hadn’t even told her yet. I was planning to tell her on our date, but I couldn’t wait. I had to tell her now.

“Hey, man.” I stepped into the house and dropped my bag by the door. “Where’s Tallie?”

He didn’t answer.

Didn’t even glance my way.

“Yo, Rooks.”

Rooks and I had been best friends for ten years or more. I could read him better than anyone, and I knew without a doubt that something was up. “What’s going on? Where is she?”

Nothing.

Just the drone of some game show on the screen.

Knowing something was wrong, I gave up on waiting for him to answer and darted for the stairs. I took them two at a time, and when I finally reached the top, a feeling of dread made it difficult to move. I forced myself to go to her room, and I nearly hit the floor when I stepped inside.

It was as if the air had been knocked out of me when I saw that her things were gone. Her room was wiped clean. The posters she loved, the pictures of her and me tucked in her mirror, the sketches taped to the walls, and the pile of books always stacked by her bed were all gone.

Even the little jar of paintbrushes she kept on the windowsill was missing. It was like she’d never been there.

I couldn’t believe it. I spun around and raced back down the stairs as I shouted, “Rooks! What the hell is going on? Where’s Tallie?”

Again, no answer.

He just sat there with his eyes glued to the screen.

“Rooks, look at me!”

I was yelling now, and my hands were shaking at my sides. I was on the verge of losing it when I heard the sound of footsteps coming toward me. I turned and spotted Mr. Warren in the doorway. His expression was lined with guilt as I asked, “Where’s Tallie?”

“She’s gone.”

“What do you mean she’s gone?”

He started towards me as he said, “Look, Holt, you’re a good kid. You know we all care about you—”

“Where. Is. Tallie?!”

“She’s in Paris.” His back stiffened as he added, “We sent her to art school.”

My world tilted.

Paris? Art school? We’d never talked about her going to Paris. She wanted to stay close and travel after I finished training. Confused and completely gutted, I shouted, “Why would you… she didn’t even tell me anything about it. She didn’t even tell me goodbye.”

“She didn’t know she was leaving,” he said softly.

“What?” My blood ran cold. “I don’t understand.”

“We did what was best for our daughter.”

“But...”

“Holt.” His voice hardened, and his eyes met mine. “I know this is difficult, but you and I both know this thing between you two was never going to work. You could never give her what she needs.”

“But I can. I will. I made it into pilot school, and...”

“And what? She’s just supposed to wait around for the next year and a half?” he scoffed. “I don’t think so. Not my daughter.”

“I love her,” I answered with my voice shaking. “And she loves me.”

“Give it a couple of months, and you’ll get over it. Then, you’ll see this was the best thing for you both.”

“You’re wrong. I’ll never get over her. She’s everything to me.”

He didn’t respond.

He just turned and walked away, leaving me standing there, feeling like my entire world was crashing down around me. Rooks still wouldn’t look at me, and I left there feeling like I had nothing to live for. I tried calling her a million times. I wrote her. Emailed her. I tried every way of contact I could think of, but I never got a response.

It was a day I would never forget.

I was sitting beside the Christmas tree, watching as our family and friends came through the front door. There was an odd little ball of green and red ribbon hanging from the ceiling, and every time a couple stepped under it, the guy would kiss the girl. Sometimes, it was just a little peck, while others were deep and passionate.

I spent the better part of the night watching the different couples sharing a magical moment together, and I found myself wondering what it would be like to be kissed like that. And just as that thought crossed my mind, Thomas walked into the kitchen. He was several years older than me and always treated me as such, but that didn’t stop me from thinking that he was my one and only.

If there was anyone I wanted to kiss under the mistletoe, it was him.

The wheels started turning in my head, and before I knew it, I was standing under the mistletoe. My hands were fisted by my side, and I was practically giddy as I stood there waiting for him to notice me. My heart was pounding so hard I was positive everyone around me could hear it.

When Thomas finally spotted me, his lips curled into a smile, and I just knew my dream was about to come true. I just knew it. Every nerve in my body hummed as he started towards me.

I ran my tongue over my lips, preparing for the big moment, and just as I was about to pop with excitement, I felt something brush up against my arm. I glanced up and found Casey standing next to me, and my heart sank. I quickly looked back at Thomas, and he was still coming in our direction.

I was tempted to shove Casey out of the way, but it was too late.

He was already standing right in front of her.

A knot formed in my throat as I watched him lean down and kiss her on the cheek. She laughed, and the sound echoed around me, making the knot in my throat even tighter. I might’ve just been a silly kid, but I knew it just wasn’t a kiss under the mistletoe.

He’d chosen her—just like he’d always done.

Disappointment sank its teeth in deep, but I refused to let the hurt show. I simply stepped away, blending back into the crowd, and pretended that the mistletoe had never meant anything.

But it did.

And it always would.

Torch

I was still shaking off the last bits of sleep as I made my way up the front steps. The sun was just starting to come up. Usually, I’d still be out cold, but I couldn’t sleep, and I was craving one of Dad’s famous bacon and egg biscuits.

I knew he’d be up. Hell, he was always up at the crack-ass of dawn, so I thought nothing of it as I pushed open the back door and headed inside. I stopped dead in my tracks when I found Mom sitting on the counter with her legs wrapped around Dad’s waist and her arms around his neck. They were locking lips like a couple of teenagers, and neither of them had a clue that I’d just walked in.
They call me Ghost.
It’s a name with many meanings.
A hunter. A threat. A shadow in the night.
For me, a haunted soul fit the best.
I kept my focus on the club.
I lived it.
Breathed it.
It was the only thing that kept the demons at bay.
And then, Prez chose me to watch over the woman and her kid.
My job was to keep them safe and make sure her crazy ex steered clear.
It seemed simple enough.
But this girl got to me.
She was beautiful but damaged, strong but vulnerable, and the pull I felt towards her was undeniable.
That’s when things got complicated.
And complicated is never good in the world of Fury.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1. Memphis

Character List

Character List:
I certainly did, but they no longer fit.

My ears were still ringing with the sounds of the crash when Seven walked into my hospital room. I wasn’t exactly surprised to see him. We were long time friends, and he knew I hadn’t been right in the head. “What the hell, man?”

“I know. I know. I fucked up.”

“That’s a fucking understatement.”

Seven walked over to my hospital bed and shook his head when he saw just how bad things really were. I’d broken my arm and had a severe concussion. There was a thick, white bandage wrapped around my head, concealing the stitches, but it did little to hide the fact that my face was black and blue, and my eyes were practically swollen shut.

I was lucky.

I hit a telephone pole and was thrown through the windshield.

I could’ve hit someone—killed them and myself. I wouldn’t have been all that bothered with the latter. Hell, it had crossed my mind more times than I could count.

“So, after two fucking tours in Iraq where we fought every fucking day to see the next sunrise, this is how you’re gonna go out?” he snapped. “What the hell where you thinking? Drinking and driving. Have you lost your fucking mind? You could’ve gotten yourself killed or worse. You could’ve killed someone else.”

“I know. I know. It was a dumb move.” I let out a defeated sigh. “I went to see Tracy.”

“Ah, damn. Why the fuck would you go and do that?”

“I guess I’m just a glutton for punishment.”

Seven and I had served together, and while out on patrol, we talked. Hell, we talked a lot. He knew my history with her, so I wasn’t surprised when he said, “Well, you had to know that was a bad idea.”

“I did, but I needed to see her.” I shifted slightly and winced when the movement sent a sharp pain through my arm. “I needed to know that she was okay.”

“And?”

“Oh, she was okay.” My voice was strained as I told him, “Hell, she was more than okay. She’s remarried and has a kid on the way.”

“It’s been five years, brother. It’s not crazy to think she would’ve moved on.”

“Five years is a fucking blink!” I started stammering with emotion. “How could she just forget what happened?”

“I don’t know, man, but she let it go and you’re gonna have to do the same.”

“How the hell am I supposed to do that?” I grabbed my phone and threw it across the room. “My head is full of all these fucking memories, and no matter how hard I try, I can’t shake ‘em. Hell, I see his face every time I close my eyes.”

“You can’t keep going on like this.”

“I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.”

“Come to the clubhouse. I’m tellin’ ya. It’ll change everything.”

“I don’t know, man. I know it’s your thing now, but I just don’t think that biker shit is for me.”

“You’re wrong.” He sounded like he truly meant it when he said, “That sense of brotherhood we had in our platoon isn’t gone. And that adrenaline rush we got when we were on a mission, it’s still out there. You just gotta take a chance, and you’ll see for yourself that these guys are the real deal.”

“I haven’t ridden since I was a kid.”

“Doesn’t matter. Once a rider, always a rider.” He studied me for a moment, then gave me one last push. “So, what’s it gonna be? You gonna piss your life away with booze and bad choices, or are you gonna pull your head out of your ass and start living again?”

“I guess I’m running out of choices here. I can’t keep doing this. What do I gotta do?”

“You just gotta show up.”

Ghost

“You sure I can’t convince you to stay?”
Everyone said it would happen, but I never believed it.
I liked my wild nights and random hookups.
I never thought I’d want to give them up.
And then, I spotted her sitting in a hotel bar.
She was beautiful—all class and full of confidence.
A girl like her should’ve never given me a second glance.
But she did.
And we shared a night like none other.
It was all it took to have me thinking about white picket fences.
But life isn’t that simple.
It likes to throw punches.
And it was about to knock me right off my feet.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue

Life is tough.

It can throw punches that can cripple a man.

Each hit, whether it's a betrayal or a tragedy, can tear away at a man’s spirit.

It will either break a man or show him his true strength—not just in surviving pain, but in finding the courage to rise above it.

It’s not easy, but you gotta hold onto the hope that you’ll get through it.

Because sometimes, hope is all you have to hold onto.

It certainly was for me.

Memphis

“Jenna used my razor to shave her legs.”

“Yeah and?”

“It was my razor, and she used it on her legs! That damn blade got dull as hell. It was like using a fucking butter knife.” I was sitting in the backseat of Grim’s truck with Ghost and Seven, and we were all listening as Grim complained. “Haven’t had razor burn like that since I was a kid.”

“Aw, damn,” Ghost chuckled. “That’s gotta suck.”

“It does, and to top it off, I went to the store and bought her a brand-new razor of her own. It was pink and everything, but she still used mine. What the hell is that about?”

“Might have to start stashing your shit somewhere.”

“Stashing my shit?” Grim’s brows furrowed. “That’s a thing?”

“Hell, yeah, it’s a thing,” Seven answered. “I dated this girl once that was obsessed with my shit, even my deodorant.”

“Jenna uses mine all the time, and I got no idea why. She’s got tons of smell-good shit. Soaps, shampoos, and sprays. You name it.” Grim shook his head. “But I gotta tell ya, my ass has never smelled so good.”

“You better watch it, brother,” Ghost chuckled. “Wouldn’t want you going soft on us.”

Grim was the club’s enforcer, and he was anything but soft. The man had done things that would make the devil shake in his boots. He cocked his brow as he replied, “You know better than that.”

“Grim going soft?” Creed was the club’s VP and knew Grim better than anyone, so I wasn’t surprised when he scoffed, “Not a chance. Hell, you saw what he did to Delgado. There ain’t nothing soft about that.”

“Yeah.” Ghost winced. “That was pretty rough.”

Delgado made the mistake of kidnapping Luna, Jenna’s young daughter, over money that was owed to him by Jenna’s brother and his gang. It was a mistake that ended up costing Delgado his life in the most gruesome of ways. None of us were surprised that Grim had gone to such an extreme. He was crazy about Luna, and he was distraught when he discovered she was in danger.

But with Delgado out of the picture, we were left without a distributor.

That was a problem—a big problem.

Our club gained a great deal of income from our marijuana sales, so we were left with no choice but to find someone new—which is why we were in Grim’s truck and headed to Nashville.

We were going to check out a possible new distributor that was run by the Ruthless Sinners and one of their ol’ ladies. They were supposed to have the best marijuana this side of the border, and we were all eager to find out if it was worth all the hype. We’d first learned about them through Gus, the president of the Memphis chapter. He’d assured us that they were the real deal, and that’s all we needed to know.

We asked for a meet, and Gus set it up.

It was about a five-hour drive from Little Rock to Nashville, and the guys were growing restless—which led them to start talking. One thing led to another, and Grim started opening up about having a new woman in his home. He was usually pretty tight-lipped, so he had our full attention as he said, “Delgado had it coming. And if I had it to do again, I wouldn’t take it so easy on him.”

“Hell yeah, he did. Dude was a real piece of shit.” When Grim turned down an old winding road, Ghost leaned forward and asked, “We getting close?”

“Shouldn’t be much further.”

After ten or so more miles, we came up to a secured gate, and Creed announced, “This must be the place.”

We looked around for a guard or some kind of monitoring device to let them know we’d arrived, but there was nothing to be found. But after several seconds, the gate eased open, and we were able to continue down the road.

It wasn’t long before we pulled up to an old school surrounded by several smaller one-bedroom houses, which made the place look like some kind of religious compound. Grim parked, and we all got out and stretched our legs. It wasn’t long before two guys came out to greet us.

One was clean-cut and wearing jeans and a t-shirt. The other had long, dark hair and was wearing a Ruthless Sinners cut. The man in jeans walked over to the group, and after a quick scan of our cuts, he extended his hand to our VP and said, “Welcome to the Manor. You must be Creed.”
I lived with one foot on the ground and one in the grave. It’s expected when you’re the enforcer of a club like Satan’s Fury. Death was always at your heels. Waiting. Watching. Tormenting. Death could come for me. I didn’t care. My life was nothing without my brothers. So, I did whatever it took to protect them. I waited. I watched. I tormented, tortured, and executed. And in the end, the trail of blood led me to her. She and her young daughter had fallen on hard times. I had a hand in that, so I offered them a place to stay. It was supposed to be temporary. But when they turned my world upside down, there was no going back. Take a foul-mouthed, protective biker and a beautiful damsel in distress, throw in a couple strippers, a show down with a ruthless gang, an adorable daughter, some tattoos and booboos, a run in with the cartel, and brothers who always have your back, and you have Grim-- L. Wilder's version of Beauty and the Beast.

“WAIT! STOP!” he pleaded. “Just tell me what you want.”

“I want to know who came up with the idea.”

“What are you talking about, man?”

“Amy.” It had been months, but the simple sound of her name still made my blood boil. Amy was Beckett’s girl, and she was caught off guard when Deshawn and his buddies barged into her home. She was just letting her damn dog out and had no clue that these men were about to do what they did. “You know, the girl you and your buddies raped and murdered.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“You know damn well what I’m talking about, you piece of shit.”

Getting Deshawn alone hadn’t been easy. Seemed like he was always with his crew or at work or at some corner dealing with a couple of his boys. But I’d watched and waited, waited and watched, and tonight, luck was on my side. I spotted him making a deal in an alley right outside of his apartment. Once it was done and the coast was clear, I didn’t hesitate. I grabbed him up and slammed him into the back of the building, dazing him right before beating the hell out of him.

He was a tall, lanky dude, so it didn’t take much to rough him up. Hell, I didn’t even break a sweat, and he was bruised and bloody, pleading for me to stop. I needed him alive, so I stopped and pinned him against the building. I could feel his pulse quicken beneath my fingertips when I growled, “Lying is only gonna make it worse, kid.”

“I was just going along... I didn’t know.”

“That didn’t stop you from fucking her, now did it?”

“It wasn’t like that.”

“Oh? What was it like then?”

“They were watching me.” His breaths came in shallow gasps as the cold steel of the knife dug into his skin, reminding him of the imminent danger he was in. “I had to.”

“You didn’t have to do shit. You chose to rape and kill that girl, and now, you’re gonna pay for that shit.”

I sliced his throat ever-so-slightly, but it was enough to send him into a panic. “It was Ruben! It was his idea.”

“Keep talking.”

His eyes darted frantically, searching for a way out, but there was none to be found. “Ruben had a thing for her, but she blew him off. He’s the one. It was him! All him!”

“What about Jimmy and Clayborn?”

“They came along for the ride. T-Ride and Macon, too.”

“Good boy.”

I took hold of his shirt and gave him a hard shove towards the back parking lot. “Whoa. Where we going?”

“Gonna take us a little ride.”

“But where? Why?” I unlocked the back of the SUV and opened the back hatch, revealing a layer of thick plastic sheeting and the ominous large pine crate resting on top. “Ah, shit. What the fuck is that?”

“That’s for you.” I gripped the edges of the crate before giving Deshawn a hard shove. “Get inside.”

“Please, man. Don’t do this.”

His words were a desperate plea for mercy, but I had no mercy to give. I put the barrel of my Glock against his temple and demanded, “Get inside.”

A sense of foreboding hung heavy in the air as Deshawn did as I ordered and crawled up into the back of my SUV. As he got into the crate, I warned, “You can scream and knock around all you want, but it’s not going to do you any good. No one’s coming for you, and your screaming is just gonna piss me the fuck off. So, do us both a favor and keep your trap shut.”

“Please, man. Don’t do...”

Before he could say anything more, I closed the top of the crate and secured the latch, making certain that there was no way he was getting out. Minutes later, I was on my way to Washington. This wasn’t the way I usually did business, but I was a firm believer in things coming full circle.

It just so happened that this particular situation needed a little nudge.

Beckett deserved that. Amy, too.

I just had no way of knowing that coming full circle would bring an end I never saw coming.

Grim

38 HOURS LATER....

“Take off your clothes.”

She was scared. I could see it in her eyes. I couldn’t exactly blame her. I was twice her age, big and muscular with scars and tattoos that would intimidate the fiercest of men. But she was used to that. She’d been a Fury hang-around for a while, but she didn’t know anything about me—just that I was an enforcer from another chapter.
