“Don’t hold back,” Joshua growled, not moving his mouth away and making me groan with the vibrations it produced against the over-stimulated bundle of nerves. “I want to hear you.”

Ah, hell. It was too cold for the windows to be open, so would they hear me?

As soon as I thought it, it flew out of my mind as he pressed two fingers into my entrance as he went back to what he’d been doing. The last thing I could have controlled this time was the volume of the noises coming out of me. We hadn’t been doing it long, but he could read my body perfectly.

“Fucking come!”

I can say for sure it wasn’t the words that triggered it, but almost like my body knew what he wanted it to do, my orgasm hit me, making my muscles tense so hard my back bowed off the bed.

Not waiting for it to go away, he quickly crawled up my body and plunged his hard length inside me on a hard thrust, making the sensations wracking my body feel even more intense.

“Jesus, nothing compares to feeling you,” he rasped, his measured thrusts a total contrast to how he’d begun. On a slow withdrawal, he held my eyes as he breezed his thumb over my cheekbone.

Regardless of the fact we were in the process of making love, if I could have conveyed everything I wanted to tell him through looks alone, I’d have done it right then. What I felt for this man was insane, but sometimes sanity was overrated, and we needed the opposite to feel like we were living. That’s what he made me do. After years of feeling like I was just ‘living,’ I now felt alive because of Joshua.

He wasn’t exactly a small man in the penis department, so he was careful with his movements at the beginning, knowing I needed time to adjust to his girth. I had obviously read romances where the women described feeling full, but I’d never experienced it myself until him. It felt like he was stretching me in the most delicious way, something that made me come hard every time—something else I’d thought was a myth.

Gripping his waist between my thighs, I raised my hips and tilted my pelvis, so each stroke skimmed across that place inside of me that soon had me climbing toward another orgasm.

“I feel it. Get there, baby.”

Pushing his hand between my back and the mattress, he lifted me higher into each thrust. I hadn’t realized I was as close to coming as I was until I felt all of the muscles in my lower abdomen tighten, and the explosion hit me soon after. Lowering his head down to kiss me, Joshua grunted into my mouth, signaling that he was following me over the edge into the abyss.

As he rocked back and forth, his movements now slow and with less power behind them, I tightened my limbs around him and pressed my face into his neck, never wanting this moment to end. I knew it had to, I wasn’t living in a deluded fantasy world. But if I could have stopped time, I would have, just to have the feeling of being safe, surrounded, and cared for a while longer.

Almost like he could read my mind, Joshua whispered, “Everything’s going to be okay, I promise.”

In my hazy state, I found comfort in the words, but if I’d been thinking normally and rationally, they probably would have warned me that something was coming that I wasn’t expecting. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t realize that until it happened.

CHAPTER FIVE

Joshua

One week later…

I hadn’t seen Eva for three days because shit hit the fan in the club. The longer it dragged on, the more irate I was becoming.

“Okay, Mr. Reagan, I think we’ve got everything we need from you,” Officer Thompson said as he stood up and held his hand out.

Shaking it, I glanced at the screen of my phone, which had been going crazy for the last twenty minutes with calls and texts from Harry.

“Thank you for your help with all of this, Officer.”

“No need to thank me. We’ll be in touch as soon as we finish questioning them and have some updates for you,” he said over his shoulder as he walked out of my office.

Knowing Ashton, the manager of Shingle, would show him out, I sat back down behind my desk and pressed my hands into my eyes to try and stop the headache that just wouldn’t quit.

I’d come in on Tuesday after I’d spent the night at Eva’s to find some of the day staff restraining five men who’d come into the club to “collect.” While we waited for the police to arrive, we discovered that three of my team had been stealing alcohol and stock for the guys, who were selling it off at a significant profit.
