At worst, she could swap places with Fletch and move into that apartment temporarily until she found something better.

Or…

He considered Rez across the table. His brother frowned back at him, probably wondering why Crew was staring at him.

Another option might be that she could rent a room in Carmen Alvarez’s house for a short stint. Rez’s mom would probably love the company and they could speak Spanish with each other until their throats were sore.

Plus, Cami definitely wouldn’t starve. She’d be eating damn good.

But that would be a last resort, as he definitely didn’t want Rez riding his fucking ass right now. He had enough on his plate with this latest task force news.

“All right, anything else?” he asked.

His question was greeted with silence and a few head shakes.

He clapped his hands together. “Then let’s get back to being the Demons’ worst nightmare.”

“Fuck yeah,” fellow DEA agent, Luke Rodgers shouted.

“We’ll do our part. Later, brothers,” Fletch called out before hanging up.

When everyone in attendance got up from the table or turned back to their desks, Cami carefully rose from her seat, once again tugging at her skirt.

If she had to keep doing that, maybe she shouldn’t fucking wear something so goddamn short.

Crew swallowed all of that down and instead, pulled in a calming breath.

Torres released a low whistle. “Damn, woman, you’re probably beating those Neanderthals off with their own clubs.”

Crew scowled at him. “How’s the wife and kids, Torres?” The man hadn’t made a comment about her outfit earlier when she first came upstairs. He was only trying to get Crew to react. And of course, Crew did like an idiot.

Torres shot him a grin. “Just because I’m married and a father, doesn’t make me blind.”

“Your wife might blind you if she finds out you’re eyeing up other woman,” Crew warned.

“I’m appreciating, not ogling.”

“Your better half might not agree.”

“Anyway…” Cami said loudly. “Gracias por el cumplido, Torres.”

“De nada. Cualquier cosa para molestar al jefe.”

Crew knew that jefe meant boss so they were clearly talking about him. He’d repeat what Torres said into his translator app later when no one was watching. Or listening.

“Be safe out there,” Nox said to her.

“Always,” Cami replied, giving him a smile. Her eyes flicked to Crew in an unspoken message before heading out the door.

As soon as, “Make sure to check in with me whenever you can,” slipped out of him, every muscled locked and his asshole pinched shut from his obvious fuck-up.

Nox’s gaze slid from the closed door to Crew.

Was the man actually smirking?

“Shut up,” Crew grumbled.

Nox threw up his hands. “I didn’t say shit.”

Oh yeah, he was smirking. A quick glance around the room proved that everyone else was, too. “Your thoughts are loud enough that I can hear them.”

Rez hooted loudly and fell forward laughing. “Nox might not say shit, but the rest of us won’t hold the fuck back.”

Crew jabbed a finger in his direction and warned, “You don’t need to say shit, either.”

“How the mighty have fallen.” Decker snickered.

“Fuck off. All of you. I didn’t say anything to her that I wouldn’t say to you all.”

Rodgers barked out a laugh.

“I thought you wore some kind of herb or garlic concoction around your neck to ward off women?” Finn asked.

“He sure as fuck does and only removes it when he wants to get laid,” Decker answered.

“Did you lose it?” Finn asked. “I figured you would have it padlocked around your neck.”

Crew got to his feet. “I didn’t lose shit. I wouldn’t be a good leader if I didn’t worry about my team.”

“Damn, brother.” Finn’s smirk was now a full-blown smile. “You know what’s so great about him falling for her?”

Though, he wasn’t the one being asked, Crew interjected, anyway. “I didn’t fall for anyone.”

“Is that she won’t take any of his shit,” Finn finished.

“She’s his karma,” Nox announced, not hiding his amusement with this whole thing. “Karma Cabrera.”

“Oh yeah, he deserves someone like her. Someone who can serve him the same shit he dishes out. I’m fucking loving this,” Decker crowed.

At least someone was.

Chapter Thirty-Two

After having a meeting with both the leaders of the other task force groups as well as Bob Williams, what happened next was now officially out of his hands.

Unfortunately, the wheels of bureaucracy, as well as justice, moved slowly.

All he could do was report his group’s findings and hope for the best. Luckily, Williams had a good head on his shoulders and also recognized what a mess it could be if the Russos got a wild hair up their ass and decided to take out the Deadly Demons MC.

Crew could guarantee the Russos would get a wild hair up their ass. No way would they sit on their hands after finding out the Demons were about to screw them out of money. And possibly their cartel connection.

Hell no, they would burn the Earth down in retaliation and the Demons were too fucking stupid to realize that they weren’t playing with fire. They were playing with C4 explosives.
