He drew the very familiar scent of lavender deep into his lungs. “Careful. My girlfriend is pretty damn jealous. If she sees you hanging on me, she might come over here and beat you with a shoe.”

Sapphire clicked her tongue. “I bet I can take her.”

Rez grinned. “I bet you can.”

She drew her long nails along the back of his neck as she circled his chair and settled in his lap.

“Oh. It’s only you.” He made sure to sound disappointed.

The corners of her lips twitched. “I can call over one of the other girls, if you’d like.”

He curled his fingers around her hips. “Thanks, but I’ll stick with who I have now. It’s safer.”

“That sounds boring.”

“Never. She keeps me on my toes.”

“And that sounds like that could cause foot cramps.”

“I know a woman who’s sorta, kinda good at rubbing things.”

“Just sorta, kinda?” She played with the hairs that fell along the back of his neck.

She might get a surprise if she kept doing that. “Well, I don’t want to say she’s a pro. Someone may get the wrong idea.”

“You wouldn’t want that,” she said in a serious tone.

“Plus, I want to keep her skills a secret so I can keep her all to myself.”

“You don’t like to share,” she concluded.

“Fuck no. She’s mine. No one else gets to have her.”

“Does she know that?” she asked.

“I make sure to remind her every damn day.”

“Does she mind you being so possessive?”

“She pretends she does, but secretly she loves it.”

Sapphire dipped her head and their eyes locked. “Are you sure?”

He held her gaze when he said confidently, “Damn sure.”

She tipped her head and her red lips curved into a smile. “You could be right.”

“We don’t have eyes for anyone else.”

“Lucky you. That sounds like real love to me.”

He cocked an eyebrow. “Are you sure?”

She gave him a single nod. “Damn sure.”

“You could be right,” he echoed her.

“Could be?”

“No, you’re definitely right,” he assured her. “And because of that, I’m one lucky fucker.”

She leaned in until her lips were a hairsbreadth from his. “You’re not the only one.”

Thank fuck for that.
