“You ran my boy down in cold blood,” Vincent said. “Frank was a good boy.”
He picked up a small knife, which looked like one she’d seen in horror movies when evil people wanted to play doctor. She tried not to panic. She had no way of knowing if she was pregnant. Vincent advanced toward her.
There was no way she was going to wear this dress to her wedding. It had to be cursed, and Alexey was not going to see her in her dress until the big day. Jane couldn’t believe she was thinking about this now. This was crazy.
She tightened her hold on the rope and hook, not wanting to do anything.
“You know, I’ve heard you can make a lot of tiny cuts on a person, which can make them bleed out,” Vincent said. “Wouldn’t that be fun? Watching you bleed out and seeing as you’re dressed in white, I’d get to see it leak from you, and watch the life drain from you.”
This man was a sick and twisted individual. She didn’t have a clue what to do.
He advanced toward her, and she tried to jerk away, but there was no way of escaping him. He sliced across her hip, cutting into the lace, and she felt the sting against her side. She glanced down, and at first, there was no blood, but then, as seconds passed, blood started to seep toward the cut. It stung as well, but it wasn’t too deep.
She felt her heart rate start to pick up. She felt incredibly sick as well, like she was going to throw up. She looked around, hoping to see anyone that had any sense, but none of them were coming to her rescue.
“If you do this, Alexey is going to kill you, and then he is going to make sure the Morello mafia never has a single spawn,” she said, spitting the words out.
She had not felt like this in a long time, not since she was a kid, and she could do nothing about what was happening. Anger sliced through her core, and she looked at Vincent like the monster he was.
He slashed her again, and she gasped but gritted her teeth, because she refused to give him the satisfaction of screaming.
“No one is coming to your rescue. You’re mine, and the only way this ends is with you dying.”
Another slash.
Jane was not going to give up hope. Alexey would come. He promised her, and she believed in him.

Alexey slammed his fist into Dex’s face, not for the first time. Dex had been working as a Morello soldier for the past couple of years. He was the one who told him Vincent hadn’t given the order to have Alexey killed. Dex was the one willing to feed information through, for the cost of keeping his family safe and away from the Morello mafia. Alexey had paid that price, and Dex’s family were safe, but now Jane was in danger, and Dex was refusing to help.
“If you don’t stop, you’re going to kill him before he can give you the answer,” Nikolai said.
“He knows where they are,” Alexey said.
“I don’t,” Dex said. “I told you, Vincent Morello tried to have the mafia declare war on you.” Dex took a gasp. “But it didn’t work. The capos saw through him, and Vincent went off the rails. As punishment, they removed him from power, and now the capos are attempting to choose a new boss.”
Alexey hadn’t been made aware of this.
“They believe with Frank dead, Vincent is incapable of making sound decisions, which is why they are not willing to keep him as boss. Whatever he has done, he does not have the backing of the mafia.”
“I get all that, but you know Vincent. You know where he would take Jane so he could hurt her and spend a great deal of time doing it.” He grabbed Dex’s jacket and lifted him up so he looked him in the eyes. “I have men driving to your wife and three kids. If you do not give me a location right now, you will find their dead bodies piece by fucking piece.” Alexey was willing to do whatever it took to get Jane back.
Dex stared back at him.
He would kill whoever he needed to, he would hurt whoever was in his path. He would do whatever it took to have Jane safely back in his arms.
“And I’ll make you watch,” Alexey said. “Give me an address.”
Dex shook with fear, then he nodded. “Call off your men.”
“No, you don’t tell me what to do. Location. And once I have Jane secure, only then will I make a deal.” He shoved Dex toward his car.
“Alexey,” Nikolai said.
He slammed the car door shut and turned toward his friend. “What?”
“There’s no one heading there,” Nikolai said.
