“You two sound good,” Greer murmured.

“I’m worried about what you just did, but the rest feels healthy and freeing. Ducky’s nodding too. Skye’s heading a class, but I think she would agree.”

Greer pushed off the desk. He had work to do. “If Donny bothers you or Ducky, he forfeits the payouts. Make sure I know if he does. I love you. Check in with me in a bit.”

“Thank you,” Dallas said in his most sincere voice.

“It was nothing you wouldn’t do for me.” Greer took his seat and booted up his desktop, letting that be enough.

Chapter 41

The soft sounds of a slow dance tune began to play, pulling Dallas from his deep concentration. He read recipes on his cell phone and committed an ingredient list to paper for a homemade Thanksgiving dinner.

They still had a couple of weeks before the big holiday. Who knew if he and Greer had the kahunas to pull off cooking such a large meal, but it seemed to help Dallas’s nervous energy to plan, and he loved turkey and dressing with cranberry sauce, so he guessed they were going to try.

“Greer, did you know that the outside packaging of butter is marked with lines to indicate individual tablespoons sizes and it’s also marked by cups? The measurements are done for us,” Dallas called out, amazed at such a simple, ingenious idea. “I wonder what else is packaged like that?”

Greer’s proximity startled the shit out of him as a strong palm slid down his arm to lift his hand, giving a solid tug to pull him off the stool. “I did know. Come dance with me. Tomorrow’s our wedding day. We need a bachelor party.”

Dallas let himself be coerced into the center of the living room and into Greer’s arms. “How long does this last?”

“What?” Greer came flush against his body and murmured against his ear.

“All this romance. You’re really good at it.”

Greer must have approved of his question and his answer. His full lips pressed against Dallas’s whiskered jaw, right below his ear. “I’m only good at it because it’s you. Are you doing okay? You seem to be good, but you’ve been through a lot in the last two days.”

Their bodies fit perfectly together as if they were made to be just this way. Dallas’s arms locked around Greer as they swayed to the sultry sounds. He wasn’t sure what to make of his family. His parents and Donny had gone radio silent. Ducky hadn’t heard from any of them either. Waiting for the other shoe to drop sucked, but he also refused to borrow problems.

Besides, Greer made it hard to think past this moment with the enticing scent of his cologne and his hard chest rubbing against Dallas’s. Those perfect lips kissed a trail back to his ear.

“Let’s talk about the honeymoon.”

Dallas’s eyelids slid closed. His head bent into Greer’s kisses. “I know money’s tight right now. You never let me pay for anything. I should pay for a honeymoon…” Their bodies stilled. Greer’s chest rumbled before the chuckle left his lips. The laugh turned to a full body thing as Greer reared back, his bright smile in place.

“I’m not that broke. All I did was pull together the cash I could get my hands on in a two-hour window. Where should we go?”

Dallas arched a brow, trying to decide if Greer was laughing at him or with him. For peace’s sake, he decided on the latter.

“When can we go?” he asked, taking Greer by the hips and pulling him back into the embrace.

“Maybe over Christmas break? January will be busy for you,” Greer said, sliding his arms around Dallas’s neck, staying face to face this time. “Switzerland is breathtaking during the holidays. Maybe Norway or the Bavarian forest of Germany. Their holiday markets are a sight to behold. Of course, we could go to New York.” Greer’s brows waggled in intrigue. “Or I could take you to Seattle. It’s been a long time since you’ve been there with me. So much has changed.”

Dallas gave the slightest roll of his eyes. Of course, Greer wanted to go to Washington State any chance he got. Every week, he tried to talk Dallas into tagging along with him.

“Let’s negotiate. The twenty-sixth, we’ll go to Seattle for the week, but we should be here for Christmas day. Ducky might not have a place to go, and I don’t want to leave him like that yet.”

Greer nodded before Dallas ever finished the thought. “Agreed. Did he tell you he’s coming early tomorrow morning so I can help dress him?”

“You don’t understand what a big deal that is. His League of Legends tournament is an annual competition he and his team prepare for year-round. It never occurred to me that we had a conflict.” Honestly, it surprised Dallas that Ducky hadn’t tried to bail on the wedding. That was how important this tournament was to his brother.
