“For me?”

“Yep. And gladly. Hang on, I’m going to call you back.”

I blink as the line goes dead, pulling the phone away from my ear and frowning in confusion before suddenly, I hear our house phone go off.

I stand and cross the room to my door, opening it a crack and putting my ear to it. The phone rings again, and this time, I hear my mom answer it downstairs.

“Hello? Oh! Hi Camden, how’s your weekend?”

Wait, what the fuck?

I grab my phone to text him to see what the hell he’s up to.

What the hell are you doing?

Sit tight.

“Well that’s good!” My mom laughs downstairs at something he says. “Oh, I see. Well…” she sighs heavily, lowering her voice. “She actually snuck out of the damn house last night. Yes! I know, I couldn’t freaking believe it. I know she’s going to college next year, and she’s and adult all that. But still. I see, I see.”

Mom sighs.

“Well, the problem is, she’s grounded. Exactly! I mean, she still lives here, and she lied to me about where she was going. No, I know regionals are coming up. No no no, I’m not taking those away from her. She’s worked too hard and they mean too much for her future. Uh-huh.”

I’m on pins and needles, and I open my phone again.

What are you up to? What’s going on???

He just sends a winking face back, and I groan as I stick my head out into the hallway.

“Okay, okay. No, I think that sounds reasonable. I mean grounded means no social stuff or friends. This is work. Yeah, I’ll tell her. Can you drive her home after? I’m not letting her drive.”

My heart beats quickly. What the shit is going on?

“Okay! Thanks Camden! I appreciate the call. Okay, bye.”

She hangs up, and when I hear her on the stairs, I slink back inside my room and quietly close the door. A minute later, there’s a knock.

“Waverly?”

“Yeah?”

“Can I come in?”

“Sure!”

The door opens and my mom sticks her head in.

“Everything okay?”

“So, Coach Kirby just called.”

I swallow back the heat and excitement from my face.

“Oh?”

She frowns. “Yeah, he wants to do some training tonight at the pool for next week’s meet, and in preparation of regionals.”

My pulse races, and it takes everything I have to hold back the big grin on my face.

“But I’m grounded?”

“Yep,” she says sharply before she smiles. “But luckily, I think this is an exception. Swimming could be your future, honey, I know that. So, I’m giving you a pass to go train tonight.” She laughs. “I mean, it’s not like spending your Saturday night alone with your swim coach running drills is fun night out.”

You have NO idea…

I grin. “Thank you, mom.”

My pulse pounds, and my skin tingles with excitement.

“Uh-huh,” she sighs dryly. “He’s going to meet you there in half an hour. You can walk, by the way.”

I frown. “Seriously?”

“It’s not far, and Coach Kirby can drive you home after, okay?”

I nod, trembling with anticipation.

Drive me home after, huh?

…Oh, he can do much more than that.

Waverly

The gym is dark when I get there, and when I key-card my way inside the pool area, it’s also dark except for the pool-lights themselves casting a flickering aqua glow.

“Hello?”

I step inside, my pulse beating quickly as the doors shut behind me. Suddenly, I gasp, my heart leaping into my throat as arms circle me from behind and pull me tight to a rock-hard body.

“Fuck, you scared the shit out of me!”

Camden chuckles, spinning me in his arms, and instantly, the second our eyes lock, I’m falling into him. I moan, kissing him madly and deeply, practically crawling up his body into his arms as he growls into my lips.

“I missed you,” he groans.

I grin like an idiot.

“It’s only been like twelve hours. Less.”

“And that’s twelve hours too long without you right here in my arms,” he purrs.

I moan as I lean into him, kissing him slow and deep before he pulls back. He’s shirtless and barefooted, wearing just that same black pair of perfectly fitting swim trunks. His eyes drop to my gym bag, and he grins.

“Good. Brought your suit?”

I frown. “I mean, I just grabbed the bag so my mom wouldn’t be thrown off. I don’t think my team suit is in there. Maybe just a bikini?”

Camden grins, arching his brow.

“Perfect. Get it on.”

“Wait, what?”

Hang on. I came here with the express purpose of fooling around with him, right?

“Oh, you’re going to work, gorgeous.”

My jaw drops. “What? I thought—”

He laughs. “Oh, don’t worry,” he growls as he leans in close. “That’s also going to happen, trust me,” he groans deeply. “But it’ll be your reward.”

I groan. “You’re kidding me.”

“Nope,” he grins. “Regionals aren’t that far away, and you’re in a really good spot, but we need you lean and mean and ready to kick ass.”
