My eyes dart to my mom, who’s standing behind my swim coach looking totally normal.

“Coach Kirby thinks you could sweep them this year, honey. Can you imagine what that would do for you in college in terms of division ranking?”

Camden smiles innocently, shrugging. “Think? Think nothing, Natasha. She absolutely could.”

Mom laughs, patting him on the shoulder. “Well, I’ll let you chat. We were going to get some Greek for delivery later. Can I get you anything?”

Camden and I both open our mouths at the same time, the result being a jumble of me saying “no he can’t stay” and Camden saying, “thanks but I’ve got plans.” My mom blinks, looking confused as my face blooms red. Camden seems to take it in stride though, grinning at my mother.

“No, thank you though, Natasha. I’ve got things to do.”

My mom shoots me a look. “Let’s try to be a little nicer, Waverly?” She turns back to Camden and smiles. “Anyways, I’ll let you two talk.”

She turns and heads down the hall. He and I are silent, just watching as she disappears down the stairs before he finally turns back to me. I shiver as those gorgeous blue eyes drink me in, a shadow on his face that sends my heart racing.

“Regionals, huh?”

He says nothing as he steps into my room, and my breath catches as I step back to let him. He closes the door behind him, standing tall and muscled and looming over me looking way too good in dark jeans and a thin, v-neck white t-shirt.

“We’re not done,” he growls.

“No?” I sass back. “I thought you made it pretty clear in your office that we were.”

“We were,” he mutters.

“And what changed.”

“Me deciding that I’m not leaving this as a thread to unravel later.”

I frown.

“Do you think I’m actually going to tell people?”

“The thought had crossed my mind.”

I roll my eyes. “Well, I’m not.”

Camden’s look is hard, his eyes piercing right into me. But slowly, his face softens, and he nods.

“Thank you.”

“Yeah, well,” I turn my back to him. “Sorry to be such a fucking embarrassment.”

He snorts behind me, which only infuriates me further before he opens his mouth.

“You think that’s what this is?” he growls lowly, sending a shiver down my spine. I start to open my mouth, but I close it instead.

“You’re smarter than that, Waverly, you know why last night—”

He stops himself, and when I turn back to him, his blue eyes are narrowed.

“Last night didn’t happen.”

“Fine,” I spit back.

“Stop it,” Camden growls, sending another shiver down my spine. “I shouldn’t have kissed you. I shouldn’t have texted you those…” he closes his eyes and sighs.

“Fuck, Waverly—”

“It’s okay.”

“No, it’s not.” His eyes open, piercing right into me. “You’re a fucking kid.”

“I’m eighteen,” I say tightly. “I’m an adult.”

“Hardly.”

“I’m legal, Coach.”

There’s a low growl that rumbles through his clenched jaw, and I swallow thickly as the heat pools between my thighs as his eyes burn right into me. I can see the want there. The heat. The way the air around us just sort of sizzles the longer we’re in this room together behind a closed door.

“Do you seriously think I’m going to tell on you?”

“Waverly—”

“That I’m going to tell everyone you just grabbed and kissed me? That you sent me dirty text messages and a picture of your…” I bite my lip.

“Your cock?”

Camden growls.

“Give me your phone.”

I frown. “What? No.”

“Have you deleted them?”

I rake my teeth over my bottom lip.

“Deleted what.”

His jaw clenches. “You know what. The pictures.”

“Maybe.”

I see the heat flash in his eyes, and it sends a thrill through me

“Damnit, Waverly, I’m not playing fucking games here!” He snaps. “Did you delete everything?”

“Look it’s not like I share my phone around, I’ve got my own stuff on there too, you know.”

“What?” He frowns.

“You know, my personal stuff? Girl stuff?” I shrug. “Maybe I’ve got my own naked pictures on there too.”

His eyes narrow. “You have naked pictures of yourself on your phone?”

I grin. “Interested?”

His face darkens.

“I shouldn’t have come here.”

He turns and goes for the door, and I can feel my shoulders slump before he stops and turns back to me.

“We bury this, okay?”

“Fine.”

“Waverly…” He sighs, “I’m sorry.”

“For?”

He brings a hand up, his fingers raking his jawline.

“For kissing you.”

“I’m not,” I whisper.

“You should be.”

“And if I’m not?”

Camden looks away, something wild blazing in his eyes for a second before he turns back to me.

“You be the student. I’ll be the coach. That’s what this is.”

“Coach—”

“That is all this is, okay?”

“Got it,” I mutter.

We stand there another minute, our eyes locked and the heat slowly sizzling through the air between us before he turns and opens the door.

“See you at practice.”

The door shuts behind him as he walks away, and I can hear him chatting with my mom for a second before there’s the sound of the front door, and then a car engine starting before tires kick up the gravel of our driveway, and he’s gone.
