He pressed a kiss to the corner of my lips. “Happy birthday, baby. Time to put your new motorcycle license to use.”

Tears blurred my vision. I thought I might just get to drive his when I wanted to ride since I couldn’t afford a bike. As it was, Harlan had already bought me a new Mercedes for Christmas. I had never expected anything more.

But here it was. A brand-new fucking bike. My dream bike at that.

Squealing, I threw my arms around his neck. He stumbled back a couple of steps in surprise, and a warm laugh spilled from his lips as I kissed him. His palms flattened on my lower back, molding our bodies together.

“This is incredible,” I croaked. I cupped his face in my palms, my keys pressing against his stubbled cheek. “Thank you. You have no fucking clue what this means to me.”

He grinned, his eyes filled with warmth and adoration as he gazed down at me. Reaching up, he tucked a strand of my dark hair behind my ear. “I think I do, doll.” He pressed a kiss to the tip of my nose and then turned me around to face my bike, which was now on the ground, ready for me to ride. “You wanna take your man on a ride?” he asked, resting his chin on my shoulder.

I eagerly nodded my head. He released me, and I walked over to it, practically bouncing on my toes with every step. Seb handed me a purple helmet with cat ears at the top. I grinned, looking at Harlan. “You even got me a new helmet?”

He nodded and tugged his own helmet on his head, buckling the straps. “Only the best for my girl.”

I pulled my helmet down and adjusted my chin strap before straddling the bike. I leaned it upright and stuck the key in the ignition. Harlan slid on behind me. “What about my car?” I asked.

Seb held up my spare key in answer. I smiled at him. “Thanks.”

He waved me off and headed toward my car, which was parked halfway down the second row in the parking lot. Remi tapped my helmet before stepping back. “Ride safe. Birthday dinner for you at six. Cecily will have your ass if you’re late.”

I nodded at him with a small laugh and then turned the key. The bike rumbled to life beneath me. Harlan wrapped his arms around me and rested his chin on my shoulder. After he gave me a little squeeze around my middle to show me he was ready, I slowly rolled away. And once I hit the highway, I gunned it, a laugh spilling from my lips.
