She looked relieved, and my mouth curled into a crooked smile. “I’m not a superstar player, but I’m a damn good coach, and I don’t have two left feet. Will I do?”

Lorna’s green eyes twinkled again, and she giggled, making my smile grow. “I should have figured he was a football player,” she snickered. “The dude was huge. But then…so are you, so I’m surprised you’re not.”

It was obvious that she’d had no idea who Micah was, further confirming my thought that she wasn’t there to hook up with a rich, famous football player. I took her hand in mine and slowly pulled her closer until she was barely an inch from my body. “I played in college, but I knew pretty quickly that I would rather be behind the scenes than on the field.”

I guided her arms up around my neck, then placed one hand on her hip and the other slipped between the split fabric, splaying on her bare back.

There was a spark of chemistry where our skin touched, and she shivered slightly. I bit back a triumphant smile, happy to know that she was just as affected by me.

“Um…so…” She trailed off when our gazes met and double blinked as if clearing her sight.

“Cole,” I murmured, using pressure from my hand to bring her a little closer. Although I was careful to keep enough distance that she wouldn’t feel the giant bulge in my groin. I didn’t want to scare her off before I managed to fully capture her. “My name is Cole O’Hara. And you’re Lorna…?”

“Dun–um–Dunigan?”

She looked so rattled, I couldn’t help but laugh. It was cute as hell.

“I should have known.”

“Hmm?”

I winked and adopted an Irish accent. “Shoulda known ya was a wee Irish lass.”

Pink bloomed on her cheeks as she laughed, dropping her head to peer up at me through her lashes.

“Wow.”

I shrugged with another lopsided smile. “My dad’s grandparents immigrated when he was around seven, and my mom’s when she was twelve, so I grew up listening to the Irish brogue. So it’s easy for me to imitate.”

“You’re really good at it, but, um…that wasn’t why I said wow…” The color in her cheeks deepened to bright red, making me highly curious as to why she was so embarrassed. Then she met my gaze, and the heat in them made my body clench with need. “That was really, really sexy,” she admitted with an adorable little smirk.

LORNA

Holy freaking crap. I’d only agreed to dance with the football player because Ivy’s friends urged me on. Or at least, Jen and Stephanie had while Darla glared daggers at me since she’d been quite vocal about how she would snag Micah when she saw him walking toward us. She was not happy when he’d basically ignored her and approached me instead. But Ivy held her back as she jerked her chin toward the football player with wide eyes, and I took her hint to head out to the dance floor with him.

If Cole had been the one who’d come over to our table, I wouldn’t have needed any encouragement. The visceral pull of attraction I felt toward him was immediate…and unlike anything I had ever experienced.

I supposed Micah had been attractive enough, but he didn’t have anything on his coach. He was gorgeous with his sandy blond hair, bright blue eyes, and the slight dimple in his chin. When you added in the black ink peeking out of the right sleeve of his shirt, his height, and all his muscles, Cole was nearly impossible to resist. But the thick, Irish brogue he just laid on me took his hotness to a whole new level. One I wasn’t even tempted to try to withstand.

His satisfied smirk had my inner thighs clenching, and that was before he murmured, “Since it earned me two reallys, you can expect to hear a fuck of a lot more of me brough, wee lass.”

“It’s also lethal.” I fanned myself with my hand, which made him chuckle.

Pulling me even closer, he splayed his hand against my lower back, his thumb brushing against the bare skin between my leggings and top. It was only the slightest touch, but I felt the gentle stroke deep in my core. “Good, one thing I learned on and off the football field is to take any advantage I can get. You never know when one yard gained will change the tone of the entire game.”

I beamed a smile up at him, enjoying his optimistic outlook. “I like how you think.”

“I like every fucking thing that I’ve discovered about you so far.” His palm flattened against my back. “But I want to learn more. Much more.”

I glanced at all the people surrounding us, my lips curving down. “I’m not sure this is the best place for that.”

“That’s a problem I can solve.” Cole slid his hand around to tangle his fingers with mine and tugged me toward the edge of the dance floor. “The owner of the club keeps the VIP area reserved for the team on game days. It’s a bit quieter up there, so we should be able to find a corner to chat.”
