“I can be your boyfriend tonight, but only if you do something for me too,” he says, and I try to rein in my excitement. Will it be a BJ? Or does he want me to clean his apartment while naked? I’m quite good at that after taking that kind of gig a few times before.

“Listen,” I put my hand on his thigh. “You’ve helped me so much. Say the word, and it’s yours. Just no piss play.” Though I’d probably let him. Maybe not on the face.

“It’s good to have boundaries,” my dark prince says, cradling my jaw in his hand as he leans close, making my heart thrash in my chest. “I’ll pretend to be your boyfriend tonight if you pretend to be my husband over Christmas.”

I freeze, waiting for him to break character and laugh in my face, but he keeps watching me, as if he’s genuinely interested in my answer.

I relish his touch, overindulging in it already. Can you blame me? “Me? As in… at like a gay retreat, or with your family?” My brain is short-circuiting at the idea.

He takes another small sip, only to down the rest in a single gulp and place it back on the table, as if he needs courage for what he’s about to say next.

“I’m done pretending for my family’s comfort. I’ll come out this Christmas, and you will help me.”

I straighten up and cock my head as I squeeze his arm. “Oh. Okay. I like it. I’m not sure if I have any appropriate clothes. And I’m not dyeing my hair for this.” I would, but as he said, boundaries. I’m in this mess of a life in the first place because I lack them.

He grins and weaves his fingers into the hair at the back of my head, tickling my scalp as if I were his favorite cat. “Oh no, you are perfect just the way you are, Kill. And don’t worry about the clothes, we will visit a few nice boutiques to get what you need.”

Down, boy, I voicelessly tell my dick, because the praise is making me all kinds of excited. And did he say boutiques? Like he’s gonna buy me stuff? “Should I prepare for them to be very angry?” I haven’t said ‘yes’ yet, but it’s pretty obvious I’m in.

He laughs, pinching the base of his nose. “Probably, but it won’t be scarier than the guy I just chased away. I’m offering an all-expenses-paid vacation in the mountains, and plenty of gifts.” I’m breathless when he places his free hand on my throat, now holding my head in place. “I can also add a great dick to this bargain. What do you say?”

Oh fuck. Oh fuck. He knows exactly what he’s doing to me. My pupils must have dilated because I feel as if he’s my whole world right now. It’s not like I have anywhere to go for Christmas, and I’m between jobs. “I’d say I was made for this. Will I get a ring?” I tease with a growing grin.

“You will even get to keep it,” he says and rubs his nose against my cheek. I’m breathless, drowning in his warm arms, and make the most embarrassing whine when he licks me too.

I’ll be attending a family Christmas where he intends to come out by introducing me as his spouse? What could go wrong?

Everything. But I don’t care. I wanna be his pillow all night long, and all the way till January.

I slide my hand under his suit jacket and stroke his side. He’s so solid, and the way he stood between me and Happy made me feel so safe. The only bad thing here is that our arrangement won’t last beyond the end of the year.

“We need a story of how we met, and I need a list of everyone there so I know who you like or dislike. And when do we leave? I need a cat sitter.”

“Unless you’d like to ask a specific friend, I can arrange it for you,” he says and rises from the seat. “We should go now, so we can get a bit of sleep before the morning flight.”

Morning? It’s still over a week until Christmas.

I won’t even get to pack my underwear… or does he want to purchase that for me too? Kinda hot to be his little play doll.

I follow him out of the booth like a lovestruck puppy. “You think we’ll be getting much sleep?” I ask, biting back a grin. Every guy in this room is jealous of me right now, and I feel like Cinderella, picked by the prince and taken into his chambers for the plowing of her life.

I bet that’s what really happened in that fairytale.

“We’ll have plenty of time for all kinds of activities. We will see where this evening takes us,” he tells me and seals my lips with another kiss. By the time he pulls away, I’m too brainless with excitement to continue my train of thought. But I need to get home first, to make sure Whiskers is taken care of, so I guide Damen toward the door at the back of the club. I shouldn’t be using it, since it’s meant for staff, but I’ve done this many times. It opens into a backyard that offers an easy route back to my apartment. We pass the bar, the darkroom, and then step out into the cold air. My studded leather jacket is too thin for a winter in New York City, but at least it makes me look good.
