Kai fought not to cave, but his lips had a mind of their own. Slowly, sensuously, they started to move. His grip on Breck’s biceps eased, his dick swiftly starting to wake.

Breck moaned and slid is tongue into Kai’s mouth—

Kai stiffened.

His breath reeks of alcohol.

And his tongue tastes like a fucking beer.

God, he should’ve known. Breck’s impromptu visit. His overly intense energy. And now, this ballsy move.

“You’ve been drinking,” Kai muttered, breaking the kiss.

Breck grinned. “Maybe a little. But it’s okay. I promise to be good.” He went for Kai’s mouth again. “Really good.”

Kai turned his face away but Breck didn’t take the hint, wrapping him up inside his strong arms instead. “Breck,” he grated, irritated. “You’re in my personal space.”

Breck laughed. “Your personal space.” He ground himself against Kai’s junk. “Your boner seems to like me here just fine.”

Kai frowned. “I’m not my dick.”

Breck growled and went for Kai’s ear. “Yeah, but your dick is definitely a part of you.” He drew Kai’s lobe into his mouth and brazenly cupped his crotch.

Shivers tore through Kai’s body. The feel of Breck’s mouth, the erotic grip of his hand. His eyes fought to close again, his dick firming even harder.

He really needed to stop this now. Only an inebriated Breck would act this way.

Groaning a curse, he forced Breck away. Breck stumbled, eyes glazed. Kai scowled and quickly steadied him. “You’re drunk. Again.”

Breck stilled, then glowered, yanking his arm from Kai’s hold. “Yeah, well, sue me. The last couple of hours have been pretty rough.”

Kai shuttered his expression. Couldn’t afford Breck any sympathies. He was proving far too formidable already as it was. “My condolences,” he muttered coolly. “Maybe you should call it a night.”

———

Breck stilled. Why’s Kai acting like this? His brows drew together. “Don’t you wanna know why?”

“I have a feeling you’re going to tell me.”

Breck’s chest tightened at his indifferent tone. He frowned and held Kai’s gaze. “Because I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you touching another guy. Stringing him up like you strung me up… It was making me nuts.”

Kai clenched his jaw, a tense look in his eye. “Yes, well, maybe if you’d had less to drink, you’d have been able to think rationally and not let it get to you.”

Ouch. Breck coughed a bitter laugh. “It was the drinking that kept me from going out of my freaking mind.”

Kai sighed. Dragged a hand down his face. “And what exactly were you hoping to accomplish with this visit?”

“I just…” Breck eyed him anxiously, his fingers clenching as his sides.

How to say it? How to tell Kai how I feel?

Might’ve been a little easier with a few less beers pumping through in his system.

Heart hammering, he threw himself out on a limb. “I want to be the last guy you think about when you fall asleep tonight. Me. Not that model at The District. Or anyone else. I just… want it to be me.”

Something flickered in Kai’s gaze, but then he quickly frowned. “I see. That’s what you want?”

“Yeah.”

“And what about what I want?”

Not a question Breck had expected, but he could work with it. Donning a playful air, he stepped closer. “Pretty confident I can make it what you want, too.”

Kai searched his face, as if hoping to find more. Another frown. “Because, again, that’s what you want.” He put distance between them. “You could have come with me tonight. Been my guest, but you refused.”

Breck stared at him, exasperation starting to rise. “You know I can’t be seen there. Jesus, Kai. Look how it went last time. This thing between us, it’s gotta stay on the low.”

Kai stilled, as if his words had wounded him. Which confused Breck. It wasn’t like Kai hadn’t known his stance.

Breck glanced away, palming the top of his head, but then noticed Kai going rigid. He looked back and found Kai staring at his cheek.

Features tight, jaw muscle ticking, Kai muttered, “I won’t be your dirty little secret, Breck. And just so we’re clear, there is no ‘thing’ between us. I’m not interested in wherever you think this is going. We had our fun”—he hesitated—“but that was all it was.”

Wait, what? Breck’s heart squeezed. “Bullshit. You’re lying.” He stepped close again.

Kai held him at bay and shook his head. “Breck.” His voice sounded thick. “I was never interested in more. So this shit you’re trying to pull here, getting all possessive, wanting my attention on you alone… That’s stepping over the line for me. I will not go there with you.”

Breck stiffened, suddenly feeling blindsided. “Why not? Is there something wrong with me?”

“As a matter of fact, yes.” Kai’s tone said he was steeling his resolve. “You’re self-centered… Like to sleep around… And get aggressive when you’re drunk—Which, by the way, is entirely too often.”

“I—I haven’t had sex with anyone in over a month!” Breck sputtered, sidestepping with chagrin all the other allegations.
