“WHAT YOU DID THE OTHER night, the way you held your own, it fuckin’ made me want you so fuckin’ bad,” Colt growls as his mouth trails down my neck. “I can’t get enough of you, Myla.”

The scent of smoke tickles my nose as I snuggle into him by the fire. It’s the first time I’ve been to a cookout and haven’t had someone to fight with. I feel like I’m part of the club now, and it’s pretty damned great.

“I wasn’t going to let him hurt anyone again,” I say, turning so my lips brush against his.

“You’re made just right for me.”

My heart swells.

I don’t know how the club dealt with Anthony, and frankly, I don’t care. Bonnie and I left them to it and when we woke in the morning, those men were by our sides, and we didn’t ask questions. I know they have their ways of making people disappear, and I know a man like Anthony deserved nothing less. I don’t want to know if they killed him, or sold him, or gave him to one of their really bad friends. I just need to know he’s never coming back.

I’m sure there will be questions, the police will come looking, but Colt assures me they’ll find nothing. They took the phone he was messaging me on, and they destroyed it. Even if they link it to me somehow, I can simply say I had no idea who he was. There is nothing to prove I knew a single thing other than he was a nice man I met and went on a date with. The biker club is far too smart to leave evidence anywhere.

The day after we found out that Chloe had stolen from the club, Colt wasn’t dealing. I know how it felt for him to hear those words, and it was then that I made the decision – we needed to forgive her to move on. If we couldn’t forgive her, then this pain would linger over our heads forever. So, with a lot of convincing, I took him to her grave. It was a big drive, and we had to leave early and didn’t return until late, but it was exactly what we both needed.

I told her how much she had hurt me by doing what she did, but I also told her how much I loved her and how I would be forever grateful for the love and kindness she showed me in my life. Then, I let Colt sit with her for a while. He was there for some time, and often it just looked like he was staring at her headstone, but eventually, he got up and came back to the car. He took my face in his hands, and he kissed me without a single word.

But I knew he was grateful.

I knew it helped something inside him.

Maybe with time, he’ll be able to forgive her fully and move past the mess left behind.

“Colt.”

Western’s voice comes booming from the clubhouse and the tone of it is concerning. Glancing over his shoulder, Colt watches his son nod for him to get in there. Colt stands, and I can’t help but stand and rush in after him. He moves quickly to Western’s room and when we step inside, there are a few people gathered. Fury, Venom, Western and Bonnie. Judging by the looks on their faces, they’re not happy.

“What’s goin’ on?” Colt asks as Westerns slams the door closed.

“Just got word that Acacia is alive and has been hidin’ out with none other than fuckin’ Mex.”

Western is bellowing now, his fists clenched.

Who is Acacia?

“Back up,” Colt orders. “What the fuck are you talkin’ about?”

“We haven’t been able to fuckin’ locate her because Mex got to her and hid her. He’s been hidin’ her for months. Fuckin’ months!”

Colt stares at his son, fists clenched by his sides. “Where is he?”

“I don’t fuckin’ know. He must have got word we found out because he hasn’t been able to be contacted for days. That fucker, when I get my hands on him...”

“Who is Acacia?” I can’t help but ask.

Colt glances at me. “She’s the daughter of the biggest underground criminal you’ve ever met, and she stole somethin’ from us. We want it back, and we also want to know where her fuckin’ mother is so we can end her and her thief of a daughter.”

Oh boy.

This doesn’t sound good.

“Mex was sent to locate her,” Fury fills in. “He told us he couldn’t find her. Turns out, all along, he’s been fuckin’ protectin’ her and now he’s gone into hiding.”

If Mex was protecting her, he must have had good reason.

Who is this girl and why would he go against his club to keep her safe?

So many questions and it would seem, so little answers.

“What do we do now?” Venom growls. “I can hunt that fucker down and slit his throat.”
