“You’re awake.”
“I am.”
She smiled big and wide, pressing a kiss right over my chest. “Did you sleep at all?”
“Not much,” I admitted. “Just had to assure myself you were really okay.”
“I am, Colton.” Her whispered assurance was like a fist around my heart. “I’m here with you, which is exactly where I want to be.”
“You told me you loved me once before,” I told her with a smile. “The night before you made the big breakfast, you said it right as you drifted off to sleep.” I didn’t want to embarrass her, but I wanted her to know that I knew her heart.
Her cheeks turned a fiery but adorable shade of red. “I’m glad that you know that you’re loved, Colton. Because you are. You are so, so loved.”
“So are you, sweet Molly.”
Instead of a kiss, she wrapped her arms around me, pressed her cheek to my chest, and squeezed me tight. “Love you. So much.”
Before I could say the words back, my bedroom door smacked open, and a raven-haired tornado burst in, jumping on the bed with a wide smile at the sight of Molly. “You’re back! Molly’s back,” he shouted and flung himself at her.
Molly wrapped her arms around him and squeezed tight. “I’m back. How are you?”
“Good.” The words were muffled because his face was buried in her hair. “I was scared for you.”
“You were brave, and because of that, here I am right now.” She stroked his hair, wild from sleep, with a soft smile on her face. “You told Peanut Butter what I said?”
He nodded eagerly. “Yep. And Billy was there, and I told him everything that happened, and we went right out to find Daddy.”
Just as she wanted him to, I realized. She really was an incredible woman through and through. “You’re my hero, Hunter, you know that?”
“Me?”
She nodded. “You and your dad, and I think that deserves a big ol’ family breakfast. What do you think?”
“Yeah,” he shouted and pushed to his feet, jumping on the bed before he scrambled off excitedly. “I’ll help.”
“But first,” she began with a smile.
“First I gotta brush my teeth,” he shouted as he ran from the room.
“You are amazing, Molly. Just in case I haven’t said it before, I need you to know that you are amazing. Incredible.”
“You make me feel incredible, Colton.” She kissed me long and slow, pulling back with a breathless smile. “You want to shower first or second?”
“Second. I’ll make you come again and then shower while you get breakfast started. How does that sound?”
“Perfect,” she purred. “Just like you.”
I was nowhere near perfect, but when a woman like Molly looked at a man like he was perfect, like he was everything she ever wanted in a man, then that man worked like hell every damn day of his life to be perfect for her.
Worthy of her.
Everything for her.
Everything, period.
Chapter 31
Molly
Night before the Wedding
I eyed my reflection carefully, making sure not one hair was out of place and that my lips were perfectly plump and glossy. It wasn’t unheard of to seduce one’s husband-to-be the night before the wedding, but we had the house to ourselves, and with another baby on the way, I knew nights like this would be rare. Tomorrow I’d wear white lace, but tonight I was in red silk that made the most of my already large bosom.
My eyes were wide and clear. The cut of the lingerie exaggerated my hourglass figure, and I spritzed perfume in all the right places. “Ready to go.”
I stepped out of the bathroom and found Colt on the bed, shirtless and smiling at something on his phone.
“Should I be jealous?”
He looked up and blacked out the screen. “Jealous? No. Just added a few lines to my vows, that’s all.” His gaze raked over me, sliding up and down my body. “You look gorgeous, babe. Come here.”
“It’s your last night as a free man, Colton McCall. What do you plan to do about it?” I flashed a teasing smile and shot one hip out, loving the way his gaze followed my movements.
“Well, see, I got a pretty little thing all dressed in red, and my wife knows nothing about it, so I’m going to enjoy myself.”
“One last hurrah?”
He stood, his big body towering over me, and his beautiful face smiled down at me with a mix of love swirling in his golden eyes. “The last night as a single man, but tomorrow starts the first of many other hurrahs.”
This. Man. I cupped his face and pushed up on my toes, kissing him like he was the best damn thing that ever happened to me, because he was. “I love you, cowboy.”
“I love you more,” he growled, placing one hand on my hip and the other on my slightly swollen belly. “How are you feeling?”
“Horny, Colton. I’m feeling incredibly horny right about now.”
