His nostrils flare. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” There’s a rough edge to his voice that sends a thrill through me. Maybe I don’t have money. Maybe I don’t have shit in this town. But he wants me, and even if it shouldn’t, even if it’s fucked up, that makes me feel good. Powerful.

I tuck my fingers into his waistband, ready to expose the length of him already swelling behind his zipper. But before I can, Oliver drops to the floor in front of me.

We’re both on our knees, face to face, and when those sinful gray eyes roam over my features, I don’t feel so powerful anymore. I feel like maybe he can see exactly how broken and lonely I am. How lonely I’ve been for years.

“Don’t you dare.” He cups my jaw, stroking my cheek gently before he slides his rough fingers into my hair and tugs me against him.

He smells like heaven. Clean and warm. He presses his mouth to my ear, and the heat of his breath sends a shiver through me.

“Don’t you dare use what I did as an excuse.” He draws in a long breath and runs the bridge of his nose up and down my neck.

I shiver. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“If you want something from me, Savvy . . .” He snakes his free hand under my shirt, stroking his thumb over my ribs before sneaking beneath my waistband. “You want something? Have the fucking courage to tell me.” He flicks my earlobe with his tongue then sucks hard, drawing it between his teeth and making me shudder in his arms. “What do you want? My hands?” The hand on my side shifts up and skims the underside of my breast through my bra. Once. Twice. “Maybe here? Or maybe . . .” His hand dips, and his fingertips invade beyond the waistband of my shorts. His knuckles brush the front of my panties. “What would I find if I touched you here? Would I be right?”

“Right about what?” I try to sound defiant. Try to lift my chin. But I find myself swaying toward him, desperate for that hand between my legs to give me more.

“Would this tell me your secrets? Would this tell me the truth? The real reason you dropped to your knees when I walked in this room? Not because you’re pissed, but because you want me inside of you however you can get me?”

“I’m not the one who—”

“Who what? Saved your ass?” He withdraws his hand, and I have to bite back a whimper. His warm breath on my ear is the most delicious kind of torture. “I could spread you out on that kitchen island. I’d make a fucking meal of you, Savvy. I’d taste you and touch you until the downstairs neighbors knew from the sound of your cries just how badly you wanted to come.”

Please. I have to swallow back the word. Remind myself why I’m here. “Fuck you,” I breathe.

He smirks and cocks his head to the side. “Or I could take you to my bed. Strip you bare and play with those tits. Suck on those perfect nipples until you wanted me so badly you could feel it between your legs.”

I press my palms into his chest and shove. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because I need you to trust me.”

I do. That’s the problem. I do and I shouldn’t. “That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.”

“Do you think this is how I get girls? You think I go around and give away cars in exchange for sexual favors?”

“I don’t know,” I whisper. “No one’s ever given up anything for me before.”

Something flashes in his eyes—there and gone before I can name it. “You can put away your scowl. I’m not going to ask you to get me off.”

A sound slips from my throat that’s half like a laugh and half like a cry. “What a relief. You’ll seduce me before I start paying off my debt—is that it?”

“Have you ever heard the words thank you? You have no idea what kind of shit you were in last night. I’m not the asshole here.”

“Explain this to me, then. No one just gives their car to someone without expecting anything in return.”

He sighs. “I never said I didn’t expect anything, but I don’t pay for sex.” He pauses a beat, as if he’s once again waiting for gratitude, then shakes his head and stands, offering a hand to help me up.

I ignore it and stand on my own, folding my arms. “Tell me what you want from me.”

“Wait here,” he says, turning away and disappearing down the hall.

“I thought you weren’t going to order me around?”

“Can you get the fifteenth off work?” Oliver calls. “Three weeks from today?”

I frown. “Probably. Why?”
