“Yeah. I also work late tonight, so I figured I’d try and get some more rest.”

I walked over and nodded toward the bed. “Can I?” He shrugged, so I climbed in. “David wouldn’t have made you go jogging if he knew you were tired.”

“First, David doesn’t make me do anything. We’re…not like you guys. Second, I wanted to go. It helps with shit somehow. I hate that he was right. I’ve never just run for no reason before, but…I don’t know. It’s stupid.”

“I’m sure it’s not stupid.”

“It makes me feel accomplished.”

“Um, you are. Much more accomplished than me. I was still asleep when you guys got up, and I’d be happy to go back to bed now too. It’s not dumb to feel good about something like that. It takes discipline. Also, I’d much rather it be you than me.”

Ian chuckled, but something about what he’d said was nagging at me. “David doesn’t make me do anything I don’t want. It’s not like that. We’re not anything near what Finley and Aidan are, but if you look at them, Finley is exactly where he wants to be. He might not love some rules Aidan sets for him, but it’s not the activities as much as the fact that Aidan wishes for him to do it. That’s where Fin takes his joy and…well, I do too—or will, if we ever start doing more.”

“I get it, logically. It’s just hard for me to understand. I’m not trying to be a jerk. Plus, I can hear how much you love what he does to you—loudly and enthusiastically.”

He looked at me, and we dissolved into uncontrollable laughter. I didn’t know why I’d never thought of that, that Ian was in the next room and I was…vocal. “I should probably be embarrassed, but I’m so not. I’m pretty sexy.”

“Yeah, not always fun being in here alone. I’m gonna jerk so much, my dick’s gonna be raw.”

My cock perked up. Oh, I liked that, the thought of Ian in here jacking off to what David and I did. “So…that’s really hot, and I’m not gonna get that thought out of my head. Remember, you can always join us.”

“But then David will get all bossy motherfucker on me, and that’s not my thing, remember?”

“I know, but David is much more easygoing than Aidan, so I’m sure he could make it work. Also, don’t knock it till you try it. Also again—”

“Also again?” One of his brows rose.

“Don’t interrupt. As I was saying, also again, you enjoyed it that time at Finley’s.”

“All I did was jack off. Plus, there was cock everywhere. How was I supposed to walk away? But I didn’t ask to do anything the way you did, so shush, you don’t have a point.”

“What are you going to do if I don’t?” I asked teasingly, and before I knew it, Ian was on me. He straddled me, hands on my waist, tickling. “Oh my God. Stop.” I was laughing and bucking and trying to get out from under him. He didn’t let up, fingers traveling up and under my arms as he continued to torture me until I was snort-laughing.

“Dude. You snort when you laugh!”

I swatted Ian’s arm. “Fuck off. You weren’t supposed to hear that. You have to keep my secret.”

“That you snort when you’re tickled?”

“Yes. I have a rep to keep,” I replied, and we both snickered again. Ian rolled off me, and not gonna lie, I wished he hadn’t. He wasn’t as big as David, still kind of in twink territory, but bigger than me. I loved the feel of a man on top of me. And, he was only wearing boxers, and I really wished I could see, and touch, what was beneath them.

“We wouldn’t want to ruin your street cred.”

“Exactly.”

“Your secret is safe with me—for now. If you’re not good, I might have to spill it.”

My dick jerked at his if you’re not good. It sounded a little toppy and, well, obviously that did it for me. “I’ll be good.” I rolled over onto my stomach. He was on his back, and I looked down at him. “You’re more like you right now.”

His forehead wrinkled like it so often did. “What do you mean?”

I had a feeling he knew, but still, I answered, “You were more playful when I first met you. You’ve been different lately…quiet, somber.”

Ian shrugged and turned his head so he looked toward the window. “Shit gets hard. I’m tired of everything being hard.”

“I know.” I wished I could make it easier on him. I hadn’t had it easy, but I’d sure as shit never dealt with some of the things Ian had. He’d always been there for Finley too. Fin had told me stories about the time after they got kicked out of their foster home and he’d run away with Ian; and later, how Ian would go with him when Finley tried to hook up with a Dom, even though he didn’t get it. He was always supportive, and he always wanted to make sure Finley was safe. He knew Finley wouldn’t go through with it, but still, he’d come home after a long day at work and they’d jump on a bus so Fin could go meet a guy wherever, with the plan that Ian would be waiting outside and receive scheduled texts to ensure Fin was safe if he did go through with it. Ian deserved someone to take care of him for a change. I wished he would let me and David do it. “You said you were going back to bed. I can always sleep. Cuddle me, please. I snooze better when I’m cuddled.” Really, I wanted to hold him, make him feel like someone was there for him.
