Derek smiles broadly. “You’re a beautiful person, Evan.”

Evan beams, seemingly not realizing that Derek said absolutely nothing about his performance. Kind of like the way I’ll ask him if the shirt I’m wearing looks good, and he’ll tell me, “You are the hottest guy in IT I know.”

“What time does Frankie get off?” I ask Evan.

“Depends on what time Evan’s blowing him,” Derek quips.

Evan laughs the most light-hearted, fun-loving laugh I can imagine. “Shut up,” he insists, unable to stifle his amusement.

We all give him shit about fucking around with Frankie because it’s what everyone says anyway.

“He’s working late, so he’ll meet us at Pump at two,” Evan adds.

“Oh, that’s great,” I say. “And when we’re all done handing out these flyers for tomorrow, we can head over.”

Derek shrugs. “Well, I’m already finished handing mine out.”

“Uh uh,” Hayden says, giving Derek back the ones he’d handed Hayden earlier. “Not getting out of this that easy.”

“It was worth a try,” Derek says, flashing a seemingly innocent smile. “Okay, okay, one more round of shots, and I’ll be ready.”

I glare at him.

“I mean, we have to stay hydrated,” Derek insists.

I shrug. “You’re lucky I’m too stressed to argue with you.”

But really, I could use another shot to calm me down.

Tomorrow is going to be a hell of a day. A great day because I finally have the opportunity to let Travis know just how much I love him…how much I want to spend the rest of my life with him…how much I want to be his Superass. And all I keep thinking to myself is, Don’t fuck this up, Gary.

I’m getting more nervous by the second and sort of have the urge to slam my head into the wall because of it. This nerves shit is really getting me down. The best way to center myself is always Gary, so I’m wondering if we can find a few moments to sneak away before we continue with the fundraiser.

The kayak race, which had been our main day event, just ended. It was like a 5k where each racer had sponsors and took donations. I can’t believe how much we earned on top of what we’d already received. I have to keep reminding myself that even if I fall on my face for everything else, at least this part of it is a win.

Our group of friends, along with others from the event, are all standing on the dock—Derek animatedly telling a story, Jackson watching him like he’s still in awe of him, and everyone else listening. Cody catches my eye and winks because he knows I’m stressing out. All it does is remind me that I thought it was a good idea to propose on such a crazy day. I force myself not to check my pocket for the ring again. I’ve done it about eleven thousand times, and of course it’s still there. Where else would it be? My obsessiveness is driving me crazy, so for the past couple of hours, I’ve refused to allow myself to feel for a ring that couldn’t have magically flown away and disappeared.

“Hey.” Arms wrap around me from behind. Even if I hadn’t heard his voice, I would know Gary’s touch, and some of the tension eases out of my muscles. It still sort of knocks me on my ass sometimes—the effect he has on me.

“Hey, Superass.” I turn and look down at him, ignoring everyone else.

“That was fantastic. It went really well. You’re killing it on this event, Trav. Seriously. We’re even ahead of schedule, so I was thinking I could show you just how proud of you I am…”

My dick perks up, taking notice of his offer. I mean, we are a little ahead of schedule.…“We’re killing it and fuck, yes.” Gary’s exactly what I need right now, and somehow, I think he knows it. Not because of my upcoming proposal but because he knows how much this whole fundraiser means to me. This is him doing his best to ease my stress. Not that he isn’t hungry for my cock too because…well, that’s self-explanatory. “I’ve never fucked on a boat before,” I tell him as he grabs my hand and begins tugging me toward Steven’s yacht along the cove. There are two yachts—Steven’s and another—with speed boats surrounding them. Lights are strung up along the sand as well as a bar, tables, a dance floor, and other decorations that really add to the ambience. At least that’s how Gary worded it.

“Wow…this is one I have you beat on,” Gary says as we hurry along.

“What? Who’d you fuck on a boat?”

“High school graduation,” Gary says as we keep walking. “Are you jealous?”

“Maybe a little,” I tease. “He wasn’t as good as me, though.”

He grins, all confidence and love, reminding me how much he’s changed. We both have, but Gary’s confidence amazes me daily. “No one’s as good as you. Now, come on. We don’t have a lot of time.”
