I hadn’t meant to confess, but he’d sucked the brainpower out of me. Even though he was the one on his knees, I was completely at his mercy.

My heart thundered with unexpected feelings. He owned me in that moment, and I wasn’t exactly sure how I felt about it. Part of me had wanted to put his bossy ass in his place, make him kneel for me and take my cock as I shoved it in his mouth. But this? This was something totally different.

Our eyes stayed locked, and my heart crawled up in my throat. I suddenly thought of the time I’d had to work through lunch after getting bawled out by an irate customer. A brown bag had appeared on top of my toolbox, holding a giant burger and fries from my favorite drive-thru. The only other person on the site at the time had been Colin.

I didn’t want to think kind thoughts of him. He was ornery and opinionated, stubborn and sassy. He drove me crazy every day at work, and that didn’t compare one bit to how crazy he was driving me now. I’d told myself that something needed to change between us for the new year…

I hadn’t expected it to change this way, though. Fuck, no.

I pulled out of his mouth and leaned down to taste him again. The hint of salt on his tongue made my dick pulse, and the little whimper sound in his throat made my heart beat even more wildly.

My hand wrapped around his throat while I pulled him to stand. “Let me fuck you,” I said in a gravelly voice. “God, please. Please tell me I can fuck you.”

“Fuck my mouth,” he croaked in a rough voice. “Want to make you come.”

He sank back down to his knees again, all the while keeping his eyes on me. This was a completely different Colin Kearns than I’d known before. He was wild and wanton, willing to be vulnerable with me. His ruddy face and spiky wet lashes as I fucked into his throat made him even more stunning than he’d always been.

The sight of him going down on me was enough to make me close, and when he grabbed my ass cheeks with his long fingers and I felt them brush my crease, I finally lost it and came long and hard in his throat.

I roared out his name as my body clenched and released. When I finally had the brainpower to remember where I was, I grabbed him under the arms and hauled him up, turning and depositing him on the counter before ripping at the fly of his pants.

I had his dick out and in my mouth in no time. He tasted clean and warm. His sac was already tight against his body. I fondled it while I sucked him hot and fast. Colin’s hands tightened in my hair to the point of pain, but when he grunted and came, it was worth it. Hearing and feeling him lose control was hot as fuck.

After a few moments of my own naive afterglow party, Colin shoved me away with a palm on my forehead. I blinked up at him after stumbling back. He scrambled off the counter, fastening his pants and trying frantically to put his clothes back on straight.

Within seconds, he was storming toward the front door of the tacky cabin. I stared at his back in confusion.

“Where the hell are you going?” I called after him.

“None of your fucking business,” he shouted back. “Get those cabinets hung by tomorrow.”

I stood in shock as he opened the door and stepped outside.

“Kearns?” Ryder called in confusion from back in the kitchen. And then again, angrier and less cum-drunk. “Kearns!”

I stood with the handle of the open front door in one hand and my keys in the other, staring out at the landscape and trying to make sense of what I saw. Somehow, in the time I hadn’t been paying attention—which was really quite a short time, in the grand scheme of life, no matter how dang mind-exploding and heart-racing the blow jobs during that period had been—the entire world had turned white: the acre-wide expanse of lawn, the trees and shrubbery that ringed it, the little family of pink light-up deer standing at attention in the center, the stairs from the wide front porch to the driveway, the driveway itself, Ryder’s road-hogging motorcycle, my fuel-efficient Subaru, and most importantly, the entire road that ran past the house and down the mountain, through Licking Thicket and to the highway beyond.

Mother flipping flipper.

“Kearns,” Ryder said again, stalking up the hall behind me like he owned the house and everything in it. “What the fuck is—? Ah, shit. Snow.”

I ran both hands over my face, refusing to turn and look at him. “Your observations are shockingly insightful, Mr. Richards. You must regularly astound your friends and family.”
