Adam who’d been on my dad’s side let go of his hand and they both started to walk down the aisle.

At first.

Then it quickly escalated when Adam accidentally stepped on Catori’s dress.

Catori turned around and shoved her little brother, causing him to trip and fall.

Seeing what was happening before it happened, Tai’s brother, a big man with beautiful brown skin and black hair the color of midnight, rushed forward and snatched the pillow containing the rings away from Adam before he could throw it at his sister.

Jack went back to his seat, handing the rings to Aaron before he did.

Catori stuck her tongue out at Adam who was now standing, then continued to throw the rose petals on the floor.

With my hand over my mouth to contain my giggles, I finally looked up to meet Booth’s eyes.

He was laughing softly, and his eyes looked me up and down before coming to a stop at the stain.

I glared at him, making him shake in his boots.

He held up his hand and looked away when the two children in the middle of the aisle once again caught our attention.

“Oh shit,” I murmured softly, watching as the boy started to run at his sister’s back.

And before anyone could do a thing, the boy hit the little girl like a linebacker.

Both kids went down, the boy with a cry of anger, and the girl with a cry of dismay.

The basket fell to the floor and got crunched between the weight of both kids, and I could do nothing but shake my head.

“Shit,” my dad said. “The boy’s going to be NFL material. What is he, two? Definite potential.”

I didn’t know, so I couldn’t answer, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he was that young.

The kids were rolling and screaming, and the crowd was laughing.

The mother of the two children, though, was crying.

Not knowing what else to do, I started to hurry down the aisle.

Except I didn’t stop at the kids, I walked right up to the mother, Winter.

“It’s okay,” I said. “I love it.”

She looked relieved.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered.

I shook my head.

“I swear, it’s not a big deal,” I soothed, patted her on the shoulder, then hurried to my future husband.

“Marry me already,” I ordered him once I got there.

He pulled me into his arms.

“That’s what I’m trying to do.”

Epilogue

Are nap dates a thing? Because if we could just go drive somewhere sans our kid, and take a nap in the car after we eat fast food, I’d totally love it.

-Text from Masen to Booth

Masen

I heard my husband’s truck pull up and I smiled, getting up out of the chair where I’d just collapsed in a heap, only partially dressed.

I looked down at my white shirt that was stained with milk stains and dried vomit and grimaced.

Glancing down at my sweatshirt that was on the couch, I bit my lip and contemplated disentangling it from underneath my daughter, Daniela—Ella for short.

Then I shook my head, knowing it wasn’t going to happen…not if I wanted to get out of here within the next ten minutes. I had somewhere to be.

Bending forward and pressing my lips to the side of Ella’s head, I tiptoed away, picking at a suspicious stain on my white t-shirt as I did.

Which was why I bounced off Booth’s chest since I wasn’t paying attention.

“Oomph,” I grumbled, backing up.

Booth’s hands went out to steady me, holding onto both of my arms and bringing me close into his chest to keep me from falling straight on my ass.

“Whoa there, tiger,” Booth teased, a laugh in his voice. “Where are you going so fast?”

“I’ve got to hurry to make the nine o’clock door buster at Kohl’s,” I informed him. “She’s all yours for an hour. She’s been fed, changed and is now sleeping on my sweat shirt on the couch. Which is why I’m going to need you to give me yours.”

He sighed and let go of me, quickly yanking the sweatshirt that proclaimed him as a ‘Kilgore Fire Fighter’ up and over his head.

“Here,” he handed it to me. “Just don’t lose it.”

I narrowed my eyes at him.

“Since when do I lose anything of yours?” I asked, crossing my arms over my slightly engorged breasts.

“Since you lost your duck hunting jacket last week and had to wear mine,” He shot back, gathering the shirt up into his hands and pulling it on over my shoulders.

Even though I was fairly swimming in it, I snuggled deeper and inhaled deeply, breathing in the scent of him as I did.

“That was your fault,” I narrowed my eyes. “You were the one who put it in the truck, then forgot to move it back into my SUV when you realized you didn’t have enough gas to get you to the lake and back.”

He snorted. “If you didn’t let it get all the way down to empty, it wouldn’t have mattered which vehicle we took.”
