Oh, fuck … He tortures my clit with his tongue, rubbing slow, hard circles over it. I move my hand to his hair and tug at his roots. He chuckles against me. That only makes it worse.

“Okay, well, let him know I called, but it wasn’t important. It was so nice talking to you, Ashley. I hope to see you soon.”

“You too, Damaris,” I say, her name hiccupped. “Goodbye.”

“Goodbye.”

I pant, grinding against his mouth. I fiddle with the phone and double-check the call is disconnected. “I’m going to come in about two seconds.”

He grabs my ass and shoves me hard against him.

“Fuck, Mad!” I moan into the air, my head falling back.

I ride his face until every drip of pleasure is gone. Completely sated, I sag against him for a long moment, cradling his head against me.

Why can’t it always be like this?

I pull back and drop to his lap. His face is wet, coated with my orgasm. He licks his lips.

“You ever do that again with your mom on the phone, and I’ll—”

“Come?”

I laugh, reaching under me and taking his cock out of his shorts. Before he can say a word, I sit all the way down.

He growls as he hits the back of my pussy. I capture his mouth with mine.

I rock against him, needing him to feel as good as he made me feel. He grins against my lips.

“Do you taste yourself?” he asks, his voice low. “That’s pretty fucking sexy.”

I blush. “You don’t have a condom on.”

He slows the tempo of our movement and searches my eyes. “I haven’t fucked anyone in a long time. I’m clean. You don’t have to believe me. I won’t be mad.”

I kiss him again, my heart pounding out of control. “I was tested as soon as I suspected Eton cheated on me—which was a couple of weeks before I knew for sure. I didn’t have sex with him after. I’m good. On birth control.”

He holds my gaze. “You sure? Don’t make bad decisions in the moment.”

I think I love this man. “Same goes for you.” I press a kiss to his forehead as he flexes inside me.

I know Maddox well enough to know that he’ll stop unless I tell him that I’m absolutely okay with this. It’s the kind of guy he is. He’s a good one.

“Mad?” I swirl my hips against him. “Will you do something for me?”

“Always.” He pauses. “Well, maybe not always, but I’m probably inclined to right now.”

I laugh. “Will you come in me?”

His brow furrows as his eyes widen.

“I just want to feel you explode deep inside me one time. Before we leave tomorrow.”

“Good grief, woman.”

“I won’t ask you again,” I promise.

He peers up at me and grins. “Please do.”

We kiss as he moves again. I lose myself to this man willingly, knowing that by the time I go to bed tomorrow, this will all probably be over.

But for tonight, he’s mine. And I’m going to enjoy every single minute that I have.

TWENTY-ONE

Maddox

I played with fire, and now I’m about to get burned.

My juice is untouched, sitting in the glass in front of me. James brought our breakfast by an hour ago, but I haven’t touched it either.

I should go wake Ashley so she can get packed. Give her more time than half an hour. I smile sadly at the memories.

We stayed up well into the morning. I don’t think either of us wanted to go to sleep and waste our last night together. We fucked hard by the pool—her sweet, naked body in the sun was like a glorious gift from heaven. She’s a gift from heaven. Then back in our bed later, with the moon streaming in our room, we took it slow—appreciating each other’s bodies and voices to the soundtrack of the ocean outside our suite.

Our conversations varied, but we strayed far away from the topic on our minds. Going home.

I stand and walk through the suite onto the back patio.

I’ve known my whole life that I wouldn’t survive Ashley. When she blinked her little eyes at me behind the coatrack after I cut the wad of gum out of her hair in first grade, I was smitten. But she was too pretty for me—too smart and funny. And as we got older, I could laugh with her, have fun with her, but I couldn’t approach her like that. I wasn’t worthy of Ashley Thompson.

Then we graduated high school, and I got smarter and realized that I was worthy of her. But I’d had enough experience with women to know how shit worked. And I knew that breaking up with them before it all went bad was the only way to go—the only way to save feelings and friendships.

I also knew I could never do that with Ashley.

“Basically, I’m an idiot right now,” I say aloud.
