He laughs. “You forget, I grew up with two sisters.” He mentions his sisters as I open the shower door again and check the water to see if the temperature is right, before stepping in. “You guys might not leave marks, but they’re always there.”
“Like how?” I turn and let the water cascade around my back.
“Showing up by accident where we are,” he relays, and I roll my eyes.
“That’s called stalking”—I point at him—“and I have never done that.”
“But you would with me.” He pushes off from the counter and comes to the shower. “Although, you wouldn’t really have to because if I’m out, you’re with me.”
“Not if it’s boys’ night.” He steps in, and I move out of the way so he can get some water on him.
“What if I want you there?” he asks softly. “Not the whole time, but what if it’s boys’ night, and I wanted you to come by and see me, would you?”
“Probably not,” I reply, even though my head screams yes at the same time I say the words.
“But if you did, you would come in and kiss me, wouldn’t you?” He grabs the loofah from the hook that is hanging and puts shower gel on it. “So everyone would know I’m yours.”
“I could not kiss you and then you would be free for the pickings,” I joke with him, earning me a glare, “and so would I.”
“Trust me”—he stands in front of me—“everyone is going to know you’re mine.”
“Relax, there’s no need to duel at dawn for me,” I joke with him, making him laugh. He washes me down and I wash his back before sliding into bed naked.
I wake up when his alarm rings, my eyes fluttering open as he reaches over and turns it off. “What time is it?” I ask from my side of the bed.
“Seven thirty.” He tosses the cover off himself and I turn on my back, stretching as I watch his ass walk to the bathroom.
“Can I wear a robe to go downstairs and make coffee, or do you want me to do that naked?” I ask him, and he glares at me over his shoulder, the sleep still in his eyes. “I’m just asking, I don’t know the rules.”
I get up and grab a robe from my office chair before walking downstairs to the kitchen and starting the coffee. Ten minutes later, he’s walking down the steps dressed in his clothes from yesterday as I take the milk out of the fridge.
“Do you want some breakfast?” I ask, and he grabs the cup of coffee I hand him, shaking his head and taking a sip. “Aren’t you going to be hungry?”
“I’ll be okay until lunch,” he assures me at the same time as the front door opens, and we both look over to see Theo walking in.
“Well, well, well.” He looks from me to Caleb. “I see the date is still going strong.”
I can’t help but laugh, grabbing my own cup of coffee and bringing it to my lips. “Do you want coffee?” I ask Theo.
Caleb snaps out, “No,” taking another sip of his coffee. “You make coffee for me and me only. He can make coffee for himself if he wants coffee.”
“That’s rude,” Theo says. “What if I wanted her to make me coffee?”
“She can’t make you coffee. She’s already making me coffee,” Caleb grumbles, and I gasp.
“Oh my God, is this some sort of ‘you can’t touch her she’s mine’ talk?” I ask, making them both laugh.
“I know you’re his,” Theo states. “Everyone knows that you’re off-limits.” I open my mouth in shock. “Why do you think no one makes eye contact with you?”
“I thought they were just scared of me.” I put my mug down. “What did you say to them?”
“Didn’t have to say anything to them.” He comes to stand next to me. “I fired one guy for overstepping, and then I was here day and night.”
“I thought that was to finish the job.” I look at him and then Theo, seeing him shaking his head, looking down, and laughing. “Good to know.” I grab my cup. “Now, I’m going to go up and get started with my day.” I tilt my head back and he bends to kiss my lips.
“I’ll call you later, baby,” he says softly.
“Maybe I’ll answer,” I threaten him, “or maybe I won’t.” I walk past him and then Theo. “Please make yourself at home.”
“He’s not going to do that either!” Caleb shouts at my back as I walk upstairs to my room. Ten minutes later, I’m sitting at my desk, still in my robe, when he comes into the room.
“Okay, I’m leaving,” he informs me, and I look over my shoulder at him coming to me.
“Yeah, you said that already,” I remind him.
“I know, but I didn’t get a proper goodbye.” He bends his head and kisses the ever-loving fuck out of me. “Now, it’s goodbye.” He winks before he walks out of the room, and a couple of minutes later, I’m touching my lips where his kiss still lingers.
