You really think you’re getting away from me that easily?

I tail him like a stalker, and when I round the corner, I see him downing a shot from a tray on the counter. As I approach, he swallows it down.

“Um…” he says.

“We should talk.” By how pissed I sound, you’d think he’d decked me, not given me an erection.

He nods, glancing around uneasily.

I spin on my heel and start through the house, and though neither of us is wearing a big sign proclaiming what happened earlier, it sure does feel like it. I guide him to the second floor and into one of the rooms the frat makes available when people want to mess around—well, at least if you’re in the know. And I’m always in the know.

As soon as Lance closes the door behind him, he searches the room like he’s trying to avoid eye contact. “Funny,” he says. “This is where people usually come to…”

Fuck, even knowing what typically happens in here, I didn’t connect that with this thing that’s happening between us. It makes this even weirder, doesn’t it?

We’re both silent for way too long, in that way that makes an already awkward situation that much more awkward.

“You wanted something?” he presses, which annoys me since he must know why I brought him here.

I glare at him. “You think I wanted to give you a guided tour of Beta Pi? Come on, Lance.”

He raises his hands. “Hey, I’m not assuming anything.”

“There are at least two things we can safely assume.” I glance pointedly at his crotch.

“That really isn’t an assumption, though, is it? We know that happened.”

“Yeah, well…” Fuck him for being right. I get to the point. “So…you got hard?”

I don’t know why I posed it as a question. Maybe because I want to hear him confirm it really happened.

“Don’t put this on me,” he says defensively. “You were hard first!”

“That’s true, but that doesn’t change that we were both…”

“I was there,” he snaps. “I don’t need a recap.”

I’m glad he’s freaking out too, since it’s how I’m feeling right now. I run my hand through my hair. “You seem pretty chill about this, but I’ve never had anything like it happen before.”

“That’s not really true. You’re the one who kept calling it ‘messing around.’”

“As a funny bit. I wasn’t actually thinking that’s what it was. I’m not a perv.”

“I mean, it seems pretty pervy now.” His expression twists up, but he’s smirking.

Smirking at a time like this?

If he didn’t look so adorable, I’d be so pissed right now.

Adorable? What is he doing to me?

“Okay,” I say, trying to focus on the issue at hand. “I got hard for you twice…apparently. At least, that’s how it seems. Or…maybe it was simply because of the way we were rubbing against each other, and I’m overthinking it.”

Lance considers this. “True. Maybe it was something about that positioning. Our bodies were really close, and the cuffs thing was kind of sexy in and of itself, right? We could have been getting chubbies for that, not each other. Not that there’s anything wrong if we were. My best friend is bi, so it’s not like it’s a big deal.”

“No, it’s not a big deal at all. Just feels like something I would have discovered before now, you know?”

“Yeah, I do. Like, I’ve kissed a guy before, so—”

“Wait, what?”

That’s new info.

“Dude, we’re in frats. Stuff like that happens. We go to parties and play spin the bottle. We compete in TaskFrats where we rub against each other. Sometimes pranks happen, like waking up and having you come all over me and—” He doesn’t finish his thought. “Why did you make that face when I said that?”

“Huh?” I hadn’t even realized I was doing anything, but I must admit, there was something about him saying I came all over him that was…intriguing. In a way that surprises me as much as the rest. Well, maybe getting less surprising the more this stuff keeps redirecting to Lance.

“Your eyes got wider,” he explains. “You seemed…excited about it, not that I know what you’d look like when you got excited…outside of how you get when you’re winning something…or…” He shakes his head. “Whatever. This is so stupid. I told you, I’ve kissed a guy before, and it wasn’t all that. So I know I’m not attracted to guys. I’m not saying you can’t be, and if you are attracted to me, I totally respect that.”

So he’s experimented and felt nothing?

Maybe I’m wrong?

“Maybe you just weren’t attracted to that one guy, though,” I say.

“Possibly. But we could also be overthinking this. You sound as surprised as I was by it, so maybe…”

“What?”

“You’ve had sex with so many girls…you could just be super horny. When was the last time you had sex?”

I consider this. “Start of the semester, I guess. The first party.”
