His serious expression didn’t let up. “Is that what you feel I’m doing to you?”

Despite my attempt at setting Sawyer at ease, it was clear I was only making the conversation that much more awkward.

“Wow. I’ve managed to fuck up what was starting to be a lovely day. I’m apparently failing at trying to say that I don’t want the obligations I signed on for my job to make you unhappy or feel like you aren’t getting the attention you want. I’m perfectly fine with how we’re doing things now, but I don’t want to…hold you back, I guess. If I’m not enough…”

He appeared surprised by my comment. “Carter, don’t say shit like that.”

“No, sorry, seems like I keep fucking up what I’m trying to say. So I’ll just say that I’m completely satisfied with what we’re doing here, and if you are too, then I don’t want to change a damn thing.”

He took a breath, like he was relieved I’d said that. I felt bad for even bringing it up, but really, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t depriving him of anything he needed.

“Sawyer, this ass is all yours until you don’t want it to be,” I assured him, reeling him in for another kiss, and another, until I felt his body easing up again.

We shared a brief make-out session before throwing on some underwear and heading into the living room to watch TV together. I hopped on the Grubhub app on my phone. “So I was thinking two mediums. One pineapple and chicken and the other the meats.”

“Mediums?” Sawyer asked, which got me laughing.

“If you want this ass to stay firm, I’d suggest mediums.”

“Aw, Carter, I have a feeling I’d smack that ass no matter what size it was.”

I rolled my eyes. “Oh my God. So clearly, you’re wanting a cheese pizza.”

“Shut the fuck up. You love my cheese.”

It was true too.

I ordered, then reached for the remote between us, but Sawyer snatched it before I had a chance and pulled it back behind him. I was like a dog with a bone as I crawled onto my knees and started enjoying a game of keep-away with him.

“You ass.”

“Come on. I’m not making it that hard,” he insisted as he swapped hands again. “But you only get to decide what we watch if you can grab it.”

“God, you’re going to make me watch CNN or something if I don’t get it.” Which only further encouraged me to win.

Sawyer’s moves were impressive as he found ways of passing the remote back and forth to himself, and keeping it out of my reach despite my attempts, but I finally managed to seize it. By that point, I was straddling his waist.

“Motherfucker.” He hooked his arms around me, rising off the sofa and throwing me down onto the cushions, then landing on top of me.

He bit gently against my neck before making his way down my torso. I was laughing my ass off, but the way he kept going at my body made me turn serious again.

He slid up and kissed me. “I won’t go so easy on you next time.”

“You know I don’t like you to make it easy,” I joked, appreciating the smile on his face, something I’d missed far too much after I’d brought up that stupid shit about him potentially messing around with other people.

After ordering pizza and wings, we settled in a more familiar position, one I’d been in twice before since we’d started hanging at his place like that. He lounged across the sofa, and I lay in front of him as we watched the fourth episode of the first season of Stranger Things. We only managed to make it so long before I found his cock growing hard once more, and I made my way down to take care of him the way I was getting so good at.

A nice, relaxing Saturday was just what I needed.

CHAPTER TWENTY

Sawyer

I caught Julian cheating on me again. Why can’t I satisfy him?

~ Sawyer’s journal, 21 years old.

Carter was in New York, and I missed him.

That was a scary-ass realization. Yeah, I knew I liked to spend time with him. That I liked him and enjoyed chatting with him while he was out of town. I definitely liked being reunited with him when he came back. And maybe I tried to make it sound a bit more like it was all sex than it truly was, but over the two weeks he’d been gone off and on, and now with him in New York, I missed him, and that was a different beast altogether.

I’d never missed someone I was dating when they were away from me. I had to remind myself that this was just fucking around—a way for me to experience and enjoy this new, more sexual side of myself, and for Carter to have fun and get off. Thinking about that made the familiar spin of my thoughts take over. It didn’t feel like just fucking. It felt like more, but I didn’t know exactly what that more was or what the fuck I planned to do about it. It stressed me out, and I’d been a bit of a mess.
