“Maybe a super-supportive boyfriend who wants to watch the new season of Big Little Lies with me?” I pressed.

“I thought you’d never ask.” He winked before offering a tender kiss.

Sawyer read me so well, had come to know me in such a short time. He had this intuitive ability to grant me the softest kiss when I needed it…or choke the hell out of me with just the right amount of pressure when I needed more. He was rough, sweet, passionate, caring, tender, and strong. I’d never imagined myself winding up with a man who could be so many things to me, but Saw, oh, he was just to my tastes.

Naked under the covers, Sawyer lay on his back as I cuddled up against his side. He pressed Play on his phone app to start the TV drama series. Tucking my face against his chest, I offered a gentle kiss.

Sawyer was really here, right beside me.

It was hard to know where my future was heading between my job, Sawyer, and Mom, but that was all right. Because when I woke up, I wouldn’t be working to figure out which hotel I was at in what city. I’d know I was in Sawyer’s arms, right where I belonged.

EPILOGUE

Sawyer

One Month Later

“It’s Saturgay, bitches!” Linc did his silly Saturgay dance as we walked down the street toward Fever.

“I’m getting a strange sense of déjà vu,” Beau joked, just as I playfully said, “Why does he always have to say that?”

“Because it’s cute?” Carter replied. “Stop being Serious Sawyer.”

“Leave my boyfriend alone,” Rush added.

“I’m feeling very attacked,” I teased.

Linc ran over to me and jumped onto my back.

“He has a habit of doing that, doesn’t he?” Jace asked. He and Dax were with us for our favorite Saturday of the month.

“Can you be careful? Our wedding is only a little over a month away, and I don’t want anyone to get hurt before the big day,” Ash said, and I smiled. It was beautiful how excited he was to be married to Beau.

“He’ll be fine,” Beau replied just as Linc jumped off me, saying, “Are you calling me fat?”

“Uh-oh,” Rush groaned, and we all laughed.

Jude was working at Fever, and Cam had said he was going to be late and he’d meet us there. Owen and Keegan were in Parlaisa for princely business.

The past month had been great. Carter and I had redecorated our apartment. I wanted him to feel like it was our home and not just mine. I had to admit, he was much better at those things than I was, and I loved what he’d done with the place.

We’d settled in nicely as boyfriends who lived together. It might seem quick to some people, but it was right for us. I loved going to bed with Carter and waking up with him and baking cookies with him too.

He was now doing a drag queen story time at Fearless every other Sunday, and it was a huge hit. Carter loved doing it, and I loved watching him. I loved everything about him. I knew it was early in our relationship, but I had never been happier, never felt more like myself, and I knew there was nothing I wanted more than to spend my life with him.

Carter had a short trip coming up, but it was only a weekend, and I was actually planning on going with him. I was excited to be able to do that with him from time to time. Casey had been a great addition to Fearless, and he helped out a lot, making me feel more comfortable leaving.

“You’re quiet.” Carter threaded his fingers through mine as we made our way inside the bar.

The music made my heart thump, or maybe that was him as I pulled him closer and kissed his head. “Just thinking about how good the past month has been.”

“Enjoying all the sex you’re getting?” he teased.

“Enjoying you.”

I was so worried that he would regret his decision to stay, but if he did, I would follow Carter James anywhere. He was happy, though. I could see it in the way his eyes sparkled every time he looked at me. I wondered if maybe Fever Falls was the first place where Carter had ever truly felt at home.

“What’s up, guys?” Jude shouted over the noise when we approached the bar. He gave me a smile, and I knew it was because of the conversation we’d had that day. Did he know how much he’d helped me?

“Hey. One of these days you’ll have to get a Saturgay off. It seems like you’re always working.”

“Eh, it’ll do.” Jude shrugged, and I noticed his eyes darting around. “Camden’s not with you?”

“No, he said he was meeting us out. I’m not sure what’s going on.”

Jude’s brows pulled together, and I wondered if he even noticed he’d done it. Whatever was happening between him and Cam was definitely interesting.
