“I’m about to stop over there.” I tipped my cup to see it was almost empty. A motherfucker could get addicted to these.

“Good. I’ve got to go check in anyways. Let me say goodbye to my wife.” He got up and ran to the back while I finished up my cupcake and my fancy coffee.

We entered the tattoo parlor ten minutes later, even though it was across the street. Mick quietly dicked his woman before going. I left the cashier a nice tip and set my dishes on the counter. “A bunch of horny bastards in this place,” I teased as we exited the shop.

The bell on the parlor dinged, causing Demi to lift her head with a wide grin. “To what do I owe this surprise?”

“I just came to check on you two. I haven’t seen you in a week.”

“Sorry. It’s been pretty busy in the shop. Asher’s working with a client right now.” As she said that, the buzzing from the machine stopped. She hugged me tightly. “How’s my future sister-in-law doing?”

“She’s good. The patients are really liking her, which I had no doubt about.”

“I can’t wait until next week. I’m so excited and happy that she let me be her maid of honor.”

“She’s getting a wonderful sister and an okay brother.”

“Hey, you’re just lucky she met you first. I’m the better-looking one,” Asher grumbled, walking out of the backroom with a client. The guy cracked up and adjusted his shirt. Something about the way he looked at Demi surprised me, but I let it go. My sister was beautiful; no one could deny it. He paid for the tattoo and left. I gave Asher a look that meant we had to talk about that later. Demi seemed oblivious to it because her eyes had been focused on the man’s chest.

After he left, I made my exit as well. I had to see my woman and make sure there were no other fucks looking at my woman like that.

Chapter 19

Grace

“My wedding day,” I sighed, stepping into my long, strapless white dress with an outer layer of pearl-beaded tulle on the skirt.

“And you look amazing,” Demi said, wiping tears from her eyes. “I’m sorry. I’m not the one who should be crying, but I couldn’t have asked for a better woman for him.”

“Thank you, Demi.” We hugged for the tenth time today before she turned me around to zip me up. I stared into the mirror and watched how the strapless gown amplified the curve of my breasts and the hollow of my neck. I looked like a dream and suddenly, I wished my mother could have been here. She wanted me to marry David, but she would have loved Rick.

My wedding would be the talk of the town because last week, the weather and Crystal took us by surprise. We were hit with a tornado just outside of town, while Crystal went into labor on the side of the road.

Morgan and Penny were due very soon. I had a wedding gift for my handsome man today that I knew he’d been waiting for. I saw the longing in his eyes when the guys mentioned becoming fathers. It wasn’t like we waited. He knocked me up from the first day. I tested myself two weeks ago just to be sure, but my tender breasts and missed period already gave me the heads up.

Thankfully, I’d only started getting morning sickness two days ago, which he missed. I’d barely brushed my teeth when he’d gotten home from his patrol.

“I can’t believe I’m getting married to Ricardo. I love your brother so much. He makes me feel so wonderful.” The door opened with Sophia and Annelise walking in.

“Girl, you look fabulous. Guess who arrived.” They moved, and my father stood right there.

“Daddy,” I sobbed, rushing into his open arms.

“My sweet girl.” He had his own tears in his eyes and looked so handsome in his tux. Strangely, he seemed fitter, as if he’d worked out more. “I think he was my best catch.”

“He really is. Thank you, Daddy.” He kissed my cheek and then Sophia tapped my shoulder.

“Come on. Ghost is waiting for his bride.”

“I’m the Ghost’s bride.” I giggled, and then everyone else followed. It helped me get over the anxious feeling I had.

Annelise adjusted my veil. “Let’s not make him wait any longer. The man might come running up here and steal you away.”

“Daddy, take me to him.”

He extended his arm to me and I wrapped mine around it. “With pleasure, my pumpkin.”

Everyone gathered in place, then the music began, and I stepped out into the garden on my father’s arm. My eyes moved to the altar where Rick waited for me, looking stunned. I could not stop smiling and watching his strong reaction to me. I hardly noticed anyone else in the room.
