I blink up at him, heart pounding so hard I swear the pulse in my throat must be visible. "What kind of secret?"
He grins, the corners of his eyes crinkling in that way that makes my stomach flutter. His expression is all mischief and confidence, like a man who's just pulled off the perfect surprise. "I went ahead and bought the building.”
I blink several times, wondering if I heard him right. “What?”
“Gobble Me Up is yours.” He places a soft kiss on my nose.
Cue the pregnancy hormone waterworks. Tears spill hot and unstoppable down my cheeks before I can even process what he's said. My vision blurs as I whisper, "You really are perfect." I snuggle back into his embrace, feeling the solid wall of his chest against my spine, his arms creating a fortress around me.
"We're perfect together." He tips my chin with one calloused finger, his thumb brushing away a teardrop, and kisses me until I forget everything except the taste of him, mint and coffee and something uniquely Oliver that I could recognize blindfolded.
Life doesn’t get any better than this.
