I laughed breathlessly as I finally let go of the headboard. “I’m going to take that to mean you enjoyed yourself.”
Ramsay buried his head into the pillow by my neck, his chest still heaving against mine as I fluttered around his cock. Eventually, he lifted his head, and I turned to meet his eyes.
He seemed … a little stunned, actually.
I tried not to be too smug. “You, sir, have a very dirty mouth.”
His eyes roamed my face. “You liked it.”
“I did.” I blushed inwardly. “To my surprise.”
“I liked how much you liked it.”
“I got that impression.” I grinned. “Came hard, huh?”
Ramsay’s eyes gleamed with something that I might have called tender amusement on anyone else. “Look who’s the cocky one now.”
“Is this why you’re so taciturn in real life … you’re merely saving it all for sex?”
At that, Ramsay threw his head back in laughter and it was the most beautiful sound I’d ever heard.
I clenched around him and his laughter faded out into a groan. “You’re going to kill me, woman.”
Staring up at his handsome face, my body replete in a way I’d never experienced, I saw him laughing in my mind again. Felt the way the sight caused an ache across my chest.
Oh boy.
If I was going to kill him … Ramsay McRae was going to ruin me.
21. Ramsay
Not since my twenties had I been this raring to go again so soon after coming.
Only the reminder that Silver hadn’t eaten before we traveled to Stòr got me out of bed. I pulled on some joggers and handed Silver one of my T-shirts to wear. Together, we stepped out of the bedroom. Akiva jumped off the couch with a bark and scrambled over to us for affectionate pets and reassurance. She would’ve heard the noise we were making and been confused by it most likely. More than anything, she was nonplussed that I’d kept her from the bedroom when usually she had free rein of the house.
I gave her one last pet and left Silver to shower my dog with affection while I made us French toast. Quick, easy. We could eat and then I could fuck her again.
I was already semi-hard just thinking about it.
Aye, there was no denying she and I had chemistry.
We settled at my small dining table. I enjoyed the way Silver kept shooting me pleased, hot looks in between each bite of her food.
The manipulative bastard I could be, I saw her soft, her guard down, and I went in for the kill. I swallowed a bite of the eggy toast. “Who is threatening you?”
Silver’s hazel eyes narrowed as she chewed. A few seconds later, she replied, “Did you think multiple orgasms unlocked your rights to know my business?”
Frustration irritated me. “Silver, this isn’t a joke.”
“I know it’s not.” She finished her toast and pushed the plate away. “We had sex, Ramsay. It doesn’t mean I trust you with my big, dark secrets.”
“You trust me,” I uttered quietly with conviction.
Once upon a time, it had been my job to forge trust merely to break it. It meant I was almost always sure when someone was certain of me. And it meant nowadays I would rather cut off my own arm than break someone’s trust.
Silver’s certainty in me should have sent me running for the hills.
If I were a better man, I’d end it now.
Yet my blood burned hot for this woman. Insatiable. After so long of an almost numb contentment, feeling this level of anything was fucking addictive.
She sighed, lowering her gaze, hiding her expression. “Maybe I do. Trust you, that is. To a certain extent. But this secret isn’t for me to tell.” Silver looked up, eyes blazing. “The truth is going to come out. Everything will make sense soon. But I can’t jeopardize the situation by telling anyone the truth just yet. Not even you.”
Something strange ached in my chest.
It made me want to lash out at her.
I controlled the urge, recognizing I couldn’t punish her for her honesty. “You think I’d spill your secrets, Silver?”
“No.” I heard the sincerity in her answer and relaxed a little. “But like I said, this isn’t only my secret to share, and I’ve made promises.” She leaned toward me. “If I thought anyone would get hurt, I’d tell you. I’d tell the police everything. But it’s not going to go that far. I promise.”
“What about you? This person is only threatening you. Do you really believe you won’t get hurt?”
She tilted her head to the side, contemplating me. Her hair slid over her shoulder, and I wanted to wrap the silky strands in my fist while I moved inside her again. “Do you care?”
Dangerous fucking question.
And she knew it.
In answer, I got up abruptly and grabbed our empty plates. As I dumped them in the sink, I ordered, “Get up and bend over the table.”
