“Cauldron…” I grabbed on to his ass and tugged him into me.

The sound of his name was his threshold, and he came with an animal-like groan. His jaw went tight. His skin darkened with a tint of red. He dumped himself inside me, filling me with a load that would keep me warm all night long.

Feeling him inside me made me hot all over again. My body continued to latch on to his because I didn’t want to let him go. I wanted it to continue. “Don’t stop…”

Those words either invigorated him, or he was so charged that he wasn’t going to deflate anyway because he was rock hard and still pumping inside me, sliding through our come, pounding me into the bed like he was going to break it.

“Yes…” My nails clawed down his back as I felt the heat fill my center. It built up quickly then exploded, my eyes wet once more. It felt so good, so raw, as if I hadn’t just exploded minutes ago. It was brand-new.

He followed quickly afterward, the two of us getting off several times in just a few minutes. We were like animals desperate to devour each other. We were fire and gasoline, igniting together and consuming us both.

When I opened my eyes, it was morning.

Sunlight poured through the window because I’d forgotten to close the curtain. My hand automatically reached for the man beside me, but all I felt were cold sheets. I turned abruptly to where he should be—and felt ice splash on my face.

He was gone.

I looked at his nightstand for his keys and wallet, but there was nothing there. His clothes weren’t on the floor either.

Did he really just fuck me and leave?

I turned to get out of bed when I spotted the flower on my nightstand. A pink rose. There was a handwritten letter.

Baby,

I wanted to watch you sleep, but I know how hungry you get in the morning. See you downstairs.

When I set down the note, I heard the movements of pots and pans. All the dismay left my body, and a smile replaced it. I pulled on sweatpants and a crop top and headed downstairs, finding Cauldron working in the kitchen in the clothes he’d worn the night before.

“What’s that smell?”

“Bacon, eggs, and pancakes.” He set the dirty pan in the sink. “At least, that’s what I hope you smell.” He turned to me, his hair messy from the night before, his handsome smile bright like the morning sunshine. “Good morning.” He hugged me close and kissed me.

“Morning…” I felt my cheeks warm.

He got back to work, scooping the pancakes onto the plate, along with the eggs and bacon, before handing it to me. “I’ll get your coffee.”

I looked at the food, which was still steaming. “Where did you learn this?”

He filled my mug then added the cream, remembering how I took my coffee. When he set it on the table, he had a knowing grin on his face. “I didn’t always have a butler.”

We sat together at the dining table, eating one of the best breakfasts I’d ever had.

“You know, I prefer your cooking to your chefs’,” I said.

“Yeah?” he asked. “Looks like I’ve found a new job as a cook.”

We fell into comfortable silence, the two of us enjoying our breakfast on this cold winter day.

“So, I was thinking…” I slid my piece of pancake into the syrup before placing it in my mouth. “I should move back home with you.”

He paused as he looked at me, happiness written all over his face. “Wow, I didn’t realize the breakfast was that good.”

I chuckled with my mouth closed, another bite of food between my teeth.

“You have no idea how happy that makes me.”

“I told Bartholomew I could come back whenever he needs me. He said he wants a year of service.”

Cauldron dropped his look at the topic. “He’s a stickler, isn’t he?”

“I think it’s a fair trade for what he did.”

“Can’t argue with that…”

“I think I’ll keep my apartment. That way, I have a place to go whenever I’m in town.”

“Why wouldn’t we stay at my place?” he asked. “It’s safer. There’s an entire staff waiting for us.”

“But what about when I come alone?”

“I doubt you’ll come alone, and if you do, that apartment is still yours. You’re the woman of the house. You could sell this place and give the money back to Grave.”

“That’s true…” It would be nice to return his money.

“We can figure it out later,” he said. “Right now…I’m just happy.”

GRAVE

I waited outside her apartment.

The nanny pulled out of the parking garage with the kids in the back seat, taking them to school in the morning. When the coast was clear, I walked right up to her front door and knocked.

I didn’t give her any warning. Just showed up.

She opened the door a moment later in her athleisure attire, like she was about to head to the gym for her daily workout. In tight leggings and a white sports bra, she was a fit chick with a sexy booty.
