“Isaiah, you should stay. We can figure this out together.”

“I can’t, Immy. This is something I have to do.”

“Isaiah!” she yelled, but he was gone.

“Immy!” Jenner screamed.

“I’m over here!” she yelled back, hoping like hell that the Deity didn’t hear her.

Whoever the fuck he was. She was so scared. She didn’t know if she was shaking due to fear or cold or shock.

And then Jenner crashed through the trees and she just lost whatever strength she had left.

He was all right. She was okay.

Now, they just had to find Tobias.

55

Immy wrapped herself tighter around Tobias as he lay in the hospital bed.

“Sweetness, I’m all right. I’m not going anywhere.”

She leaned up on one elbow to stare down at him fiercely. “You’re right, you’re not. Because I’m going to be here, with you, all the time.”

His lips twitched. “You not going to let me out of your sight?”

“Nope.”

“That’s good, because I’m not letting you out of my sight either.”

Immy glanced around to find Jenner sitting in the corner. He’d been on the phone since the moment they’d arrived in the hospital. They had checked them all over. She had a sprained ankle, which sucked. Her wrist had only just healed.

Tobias had a concussion and they were keeping him in overnight. But everyone had assured her that he’d be fine.

The police had just left after taking their statements. She didn’t know why, but she’d left Isaiah’s appearance out. She still didn’t know how she felt about him being there.

The door opened and she jumped. But it was just Sampson and Abe. Sampson went straight to Jenner and Abe went to her.

He ran his hand over her and then drew her up to hug her tight. After he let her go, Sampson gave her a hug as well.

Then he stepped back and looked at them all. “Explain what the fuck happened.”

She let Tobias, then Jenner go before she told them her part.

“What I don’t understand is why he didn’t go after Immy or go back for Jenner,” Sampson said, pacing. “And how the hell did he know where to find you?”

“There’s something else I haven’t told you,” she said.

They all went silent, staring at her as she sat up.

“Immy,” Tobias said warningly.

“It’s Isaiah. He was there.” She explained what happened and they all lost it. To the point that the nurse had to come in and warn them to all be quiet.

After that, they fell silent.

“Isaiah is chasing this guy?” Abe said.

“I guess so,” Sampson replied, sounding unsure.

“Or he is this guy,” Tobias said.

They all glared at him and he stared back at them calmly. “What? You were all thinking it. He was dressed in black. He was missing when Lauren was killed. He knows where the cabin is. Hell, could he have been the one who kidnapped Cat and Maeve?”

“No,” she said, shaking her head. “No. It isn’t Isaiah. He’s chasing this guy down and he deserves our loyalty. He’s always been there for us.”

“Immy is right,” Abe said. “This is our brother. If he says he’s on the trail of the new Deity, I believe him.”

Sampson nodded and so did Jenner. Relief filled her. She didn’t want them to think the worst of Isaiah. It could never be him.

She relaxed back into Tobias. Sampson and Abe refused to leave, so they all ended up sleeping in the hospital room.

In the morning, Sampson and Jenner went off to deal with everything at the cabin and pack up their stuff.

Abe stayed with her and Tobias. He held her close as the doctor talked to Tobias in private.

“You doing okay, Immy? I mean, other than this stuff with the new Deity, are you all right with everything else?”

She glanced up at him. “If I put aside all this stuff with the Deity, then my life is beautiful. It’s everything I ever dreamed of and more. I have two men who love and adore me and who want me to be me. I have everything and I couldn’t be happier.”

Abe smiled. “I’m glad, Imms. Because if anyone deserves a beautiful life. It’s you.”

“We all deserve that. And you guys are going to find it soon. Just hold onto it tight and don’t let it go. Promise?”

He kissed her forehead. “I promise.”

They headed home later that morning. When they got there, though, Immy felt a bit weird. She didn’t know why.

Maybe it was just that she wanted to be back in the cabin. A shiver ran through her.

Nope.

She didn’t want to be in the cabin.

So what did she want?

For the Deity to be caught and Isaiah to come home?

Yep.

The hits felt like they kept coming. But she could deal as long as she had her two men with her. They both stepped up beside her as she stood in the living room and looked out at the pool.
