Maddox cuts across the yard and heads straight for the back door of our home, hopefully leading us straight into the bedroom, when Hunter moves in beside Maddox. “Give her to me.”
“What? No!” Maddox says. “She’s comfortable.”
Hunter shakes his head. “She loves me more.”
I scoff. “Don’t even try that shit, because I will happily remind you that you bailed on our first date.”
Maddox grins with pride. “See?”
“See what?” Hunter throws back at him. “She didn’t deny it.”
I groan and try to shove away from Maddox’s chest. “Alright, both of you assholes shut up. I’ll walk myself to bed.”
Maddox’s grasp tightens around me. “Don’t even think about it, Savage.”
I roll my eyes and settle back into his arms, knowing damn well he’s not about to let me go, and as he walks through the back door and heads toward the main bedroom, I can’t help but feel content. This right here is where I want to be for the rest of my life, with these two morons arguing over who gets to love me more.
I don’t know when or even how it happened, but somewhere along the way, Hunter and Maddox have both become the two most important people in my life. I love this house and the dark room they’ve built for me, but it’s not home to me. Where they are is home, and for now, that’s here in Onyx Heights.
A smile pulls at my lips as the three of us disappear down the hallway.
Tomorrow will bring new problems. There will be new hits to make, new targets, and new disasters, and I’m sure at some point, there will be new wars that threaten to tear us apart. But tonight, everything is perfect.
I have everything I’ve ever needed. Two reckless idiots who would burn the world down for me and one beautifully chaotic life that somehow survived the flames. And for a girl who never expected a happy ending, I think I’m doing alright.
