Eventually he repositions himself, but it’s hard to hold the textbook with one hand, so I move to the floor so I can use my lap pad. Flip shoves his face in my hair and drapes an arm over me, his hand protectively cupping my right breast. Parsnip uses his back as a cat bed.

Two hours later he stretches and yawns, pushing my hair aside until his lips find my neck. “Why are you sitting on the floor?”

I pass him a water bottle. “My textbook was too heavy to hold with one hand.”

“Hmm... Fair.” He kisses my cheek. “I’m hungry.”

“Let’s see what my fridge has to offer. Then we can test the shirtless-orgasm theory.”

CHAPTER 28

FLIP

Flip

How was dance practice?

Tally

Intense but so good. I feel great about our group routine for the showcase. Tomorrow I practice my solo piece for my in-class performance next week. I soaked in the tub after and watched the end of the game on my phone.

You looked good on the ice tonight.

Tally often slides these tidbits into our text conversations. I like to think it’s on purpose to test my fraying control.

Flip

Did you use the bubbles and Epsom salts I sent you?

Tally

I did! Now I smell pretty.

Flip

You always smell edible. What are you up to now?

Tally

Lying in bed, reading Cammie’s newest fic update.

Flip

This seems to be a frequent occurrence.

Tally

She usually updates weekly. It’s like waiting for the next episode of your favorite show.

Flip

Maybe I should read it, too.

Tally

Maybe.

Flip

Maybe we should read it together.

Tally

It’s spicy.

Flip

How spicy we talking?

Tally

Ghost pepper level.

I usually get my toys out and play after I read a chapter.

I can envision her lying on her bed, hair fanned across her pillow, lip caught between her teeth as she waits for my reply. I love that I now have the memory of her lying under me, my name a moan on her lips. The craving for more of her is eating me alive these days. I take the bait.

Flip

Toys? As in plural?

Tally

I have a whole collection.

Flip

I expect some show and tell in the future.

Tally

You get to see my toys when I get to see your toy.

Flip

That can be arranged.

Send me a link to the story.

Tally

It’s why choose.

A link follows.

I pull it up on my phone and scan the first chapter. It dives right into the action. I watched the movies this story is based on a long time ago, and I remember the characters. But none of this happens on the screen.

Tally

Are you still here?

Flip

I’m reading.

Tally

It starts with a literal bang.

Flip

Oh, I’m aware.

The opening scene is a three-way in which Arwen is getting railed by Legolas and Aragorn. It’s exceptionally detailed. And well written. Now I understand why Tally and her friends are always referencing Cammie’s fics. But more importantly, I want to know if this is something Tally thinks she wants in real life, or if it’s just something she enjoys reading about.

I call her, and she picks up on the second ring.

“I have questions.”

“No, Cammie and Chase aren’t part of a throuple,” she replies cheekily.

“Chase doesn’t strike me as someone who shares.” He’s too singularly focused on Cammie.

“He’s not,” Tally agrees.

But Chase and Cammie and who they do and don’t want to invite into their relationship isn’t my concern. “Is this a fantasy of yours?”

“To get it on with Legolas and Aragorn?” Her voice is pitchy.

My chest tightens, and my palms dampen. My experiences far outweigh hers. “To have a threesome,” I clarify.

Her swallow is audible.

My heart is beating so hard it feels like it could crack my ribs. This is where things get tricky. I’ve done it all. Multiple times, with various partners. But the idea of sharing Tally with anyone lights a rage fire in my veins.

“You can be honest.” I mean it, even if the truth will gut me.

“Um, well…” Her words blend together in a rush. “Mostly when I picture the scene, and I’m the heroine, I imagine that it’s…two of you.”

“Two of me?” I repeat.

“Yes,” she whispers.

My relief is overwhelming. It’s unfair considering my history. “I want to give you all the experiences, kitten. You know that, right?”

“Yeah. Yes. I know that,” she whispers.

“Good.” I clear my throat. “But I need to be very clear about something, okay, Tally?”

“Okay.” Rustling comes through the line.

“Anything you want to try, we can.”

She whimpers softly.

“But when it comes to you and me, I want it to just be us. I know that’s unbalanced. I don’t want to be shared by you, Tally. I want to be yours, and that means there will not be a person who touches you who isn’t me,” I promise.

“I don’t want anyone but you,” she assures me.

“Good. That’s good.” It heals something deeply broken inside me to hear that from her. “I don’t want anyone but you either.”

“I just want to be what you need,” she whispers.

“You’re everything, kitten. I can’t get enough of you.” I’m utterly consumed by her. When I’m not with her, I’m thinking about her. I dream about her constantly. I want to start and end every day with her.
