“What?”

The one word comes out in a squeak, and it shouldn’t excite me as much as it does. I don’t want her afraid of me, but her nervous excitement gets me so fucking hard.

“There she is,” Watson says in greeting, cutting off any other discussions Jema and I were going to have.

We step into my office, and I introduce them, telling Watson that Jema is still a little foggy on details. In reality, neither of them have met before, but luckily I pay Watson well to do what he’s told and not ask questions.

“Do you have the updated contract?” I ask, and he nods.

“All we need is a few signatures.” He smiles brightly as he opens a folder to reveal a stack of papers. They are already turned to the portions that are highlighted and where Jema needs to sign.

“Should I read over this first?” Jema whispers to me, and I stiffen.

“Of course, you can read every single page.” I reach out and graze my thumb along her jawline before leaning down and pressing my mouth to her ear. “But the longer we take to sign these, the longer you’ll have to wait for your punishment.”

She gasps slightly, then tries to cover it with a cough. “So just on the yellow line?” Jema asks Watson as she begins to scribble across the contract.

I run my hand up and down her back as she leans over my desk and signs page after page. Thankfully she’s not looking closely because I’m certain she wouldn’t sign it if she read what was on these pages.

As soon as I brought Jema home and fired all of my staff, I made a call to Watson and told him I wanted a marriage license and contract brought to the house immediately. Turns out there was a waiting period between getting the license and getting married even after I bribed a judge. Thankfully it’s all taken care of, and as Jema signs the last page, I breathe a sigh of relief for the first time since I met her.

She’s mine in almost every way. All that’s left to do is to claim her body. In the eyes of the law, she belongs to me, but breeding her is the only way to ensure that she can’t run. Getting her pregnant will bind her to me so tightly that if by some chance she remembers someone named Joey, it will be too fucking late. The only way to keep her is to make sure she’s bred as soon as possible.

“Leave us,” I say to Watson while keeping my eyes on Jema.

“Certainly,” he says and grabs the contract. “Please let me know if there’s anything else you need.”

The room is silent while I wait for him to gather his things and get out of my office. As soon as he closes the door, I take a step closer to my wife.

Chapter 9

Jema

Holy shit. Salvador has given me heated stares before, but this one is downright primal. An aura lingers around my husband. No matter what room he's in or who else is in it, he's always the hunter. There’s a thrill inside me to run but not in fear. No, the only thing I feel when I think about running is excitement.

I lick my lips, taking a step back.

"Kitten," he warns in a tone that makes my nipples instantly hard.

"Did I hurt myself running from you?" I ask, making his expression falter. "Not that I need to run from you.”

I don't want him to think that I’m afraid of him. Salvador is taking such good care of me, and he goes above and beyond to keep me safe and comfortable. If the roles were reversed and he was the one that forgot me, it would be a major blow to my ego. Yet my husband seems to take it all in stride. He’s such a good man.

"Why are you asking that?"

"I don't know." I shrug and glance toward the exit. "I get excited when I think about running from you. And the thought of you hunting me down turns me on. Did we do that before?"

It dawns on me that I have no clue about my sex life. We haven’t done it since I woke up. My husband's hands are magical, and his mouth is even better, but I’m ready for all of him.

“You have always made me chase you down,” he says, his voice deep and growly.

“So it’s like our thing?” I wiggle my brows playfully.

“It is your thing.”

“Why only mine?”

“Because when you run...”

“You always chase,” I say, finishing his sentence.

He gives me a charming smirk, though his eyes still stay sharp. He’s watching me like he’s ready to strike. I’m beginning to understand that Salvador never loses sight of his target.

"Always," he repeats and takes another step toward me.
