She whispers, “I feel like the way you’ve been looking at me tonight… like it’s just for me. I’m hoping it’s true – like maybe you’ve never looked at another woman this way.”

“What other women? I can’t even conjure up a single memory that’s not vague. All of me is only for you. Nobody before you mattered. You matter.”

“I love you,” she whispers.

“Not as much as I love you.”

“Nuh uh. I’ve loved you this way my whole life. Well… except that now I love you even more.”

“But I can promise you I’m gonna love you in a way you’ll forget there was ever a time when I didn’t.”

“I look forward to that. Know what else is really awesome?” she asks.

“Tell me.”

“Your knot.” Her eyes widen and she giggles.

“Yeah,” I breathe. “Awesome is fuckin’ right.”

“And it’s all mine.”

“All yours,” I agree.

She giggles again.

“You like chasing games?” I ask.

“I dunno. I might,” she tells me with a grin.

“We’ll certainly find out,” I warn.

Her eyes light up with interest.

I blow out another relieved breath. “Thank you, baby. Thank you for saving all of this for me.”

“It could not have gone another way. Thank the moon, Fate, the universe… because it was meant to be like this.”

I want to throw a fucking party. I did this. I brought her back to me. Fuck, was it work, but I fuckin’ did it.

The party will wait. I’m not sharing her attention with anybody else any time soon.

She moves in for a kiss, hands running up and down my neck and shoulders.

I fall back as she straddles me, and I haul my sweatpants down enough to feel the silky, wet warmth between her legs against my length.

“Get me inside,” I rasp. “Hurry!”

Biting her bottom lip, she gets right to it, wincing as she gets the first inch inside. I hold her hips and watch her carefully, slowly get me fully seated inside her. She looks halfway between pleasure and pain. But fully eager.

Yeah. I get to teach her what I like. She seems like an enthusiastic student.

Immediately, my knot makes a reappearance, and fuck does it feel good. Incredible.

My knot does all the work while I get the beautiful view of her curves as she rides me. But the view doesn’t last as she falls forward, burying her face in my neck, crying out with a full-body tremble.

“Did you fall asleep again?” I whisper a few minutes later, running my index finger down her spine.

She shivers. “Not yet,” she replies, squeezing me tighter.

“Want food?”

“Very much,” she answers.

I roll her to her back, kiss her beautiful mate mark, and back away slowly, inking this image into my brain. The bed is a wreck, sheets half off, pillows and red petals all over the floor.

I love the look on her face as she watches me pull up my sweatpants and stretch, rolling my neck.

“Right back,” I tell her.

When I come back up, she’s sitting upright, her phone in her hand, her glasses on but down by the tip of her nose. She’s rubbing her eyes.

She puts it down when I come in and set the containers of food on the bed.

“Someone call?”

“A bunch of congratulations texts including some in the Creed family group chat. Gwen added me earlier today.”

“You answer?”

“I just put a heart emoji on everyone’s messages. Did you hear all of them outside, cheering for us? That was…” Tears well up in her eyes. “… amazing.”

I lean in and press my mouth to her forehead. “Yeah. That was pretty cool.” I kiss her lips, loving the expression on her face.

“What have we got?” she asks, taking her glasses off and rubbing her eyes some more.

“Smells like steak dinners. You’re not much for steak though.”

“Not usually, but it smells really good and I’m famished, so hopefully one of them is well done. I’ll give it a look. If it’s too bloody, I’ll eat the side dishes. Roxy’s loaded potatoes are in there too and they’re big enough to be a meal on their own.” She puts her glasses back on. “My glasses are making me dizzy,” she mutters and takes them off.

“Weird,” she whispers, looking around. “It’s like I don’t need them. Feels like my contact lenses are in.”

“You’re not squinting at me. I’ll go get the wine.”

While I’m jogging down the stairs it dawns that I haven’t purred. An alpha generally purrs after he claims his mate. I claimed mine repeatedly over the past few hours, but it hasn’t happened yet.

As I’m climbing the stairs with the two wine glasses I took from the basket Mase’s mom sent over and the ice bucket of chilled Quinn mead, I hear a high-pitched noise that throws me.

My nostrils flare but I smell no one new.

“Arf!”

What the fuck.

“Rrrr. Arf!”

I rush the rest of the way upstairs and just about trip when I see the bed.
