He palms my ass and keeps going as he buries his sweaty face in my neck and sucks on my skin. I feel him spill into me seconds after I go over. He kisses my face and takes a second to catch his breath.

“I’ll get it. Shower and get dressed. The sooner this is all over, the better.”

“Okay.”

He searches my face once more. I take him in as he does. He’s so beautiful.

His features are so pixie-like. Sharp, but soft at the same time. As if molded and sculpted to perfection.

The way his dark brows sit over his gorgeous blue-gray eyes, the hard angles of his jawline to the sharp yet soft point of his nose, all complementing his soft bee-stung-looking lips. I hold my breath as he looks like he might say more. Instead, he pecks my lips and climbs from the bed.

All I see is perfection as he walks naked over to his robe. I love everything about him, including his scars. He has a body any model or swimmer would kill for.

“All right already, I’m coming,” he hollers as he exits the bedroom.

“What in the entire fuck?” I growl as I open the front door of my condo.

“I’m up. Things are starting to jump out at me. I need you to finish. Where’s Shawna? She’s next. She has a piece I need too. I almost have this shit. I know it.”

“Bro, we were coming to you.”

“Not fast enough. I’ll drive you in. Go wash your ass. You smell like sex.”

“Probably because I was having sex before you started banging down my door.”

“Yo, about that. Skittles knows and she’s hurt like I said she’d be.”

“Fuck,” I groan and pull a hand down my face. “How?”

“Turn the news on. Someone’s spilling all your shit. Your wife, the kids, all your charities, and the businesses. They’ve been airing all your shit out all morning.”

“Isn’t that a good thing? It all paints me in a good light. A picture-perfect, upstanding member of the community.”

“Not if they’ve also been showing all the shit your father was doing to you and your world, giving a very strong motive. So you want to get dressed and do this or sit here and allow whoever this is to get ahead of us?”

“Fuck, give me forty.”

He snorts. “It’s the hair, isn’t it? Takes forever to get that shit all pretty again, doesn’t it?”

I toss him the finger and head back into my bedroom. A smile comes to my lips as I run my hand through the longer side of my sweaty hair. I’d do anything for her.

Anything? My thoughts taunt. Yeah, anything. Haven’t I made that clear?

Chapter 6

Mr. Vander

Kelex

About Thirteen and a half years ago…

The bitter cold chomps my face as I stand out on the upper deck of the cabin we’re staying at. This place has been peaceful for the most part when the house isn’t lively with pranks and jokes. These guys have made me sharpen my skills. You have to come quick with your clapbacks around here.

I inhale deeply as I allow the atmosphere to swallow my thoughts. My phone goes off in my pocket. I pull it out, thinking it’s Jeff. He’s been going back and forth on joining us.

I get his reluctance to come up. His father is ill. I’m not even in the right state of mind to be there for him, although I want to be. Unlike me and mine, he and his dad have always been close. Also, unlike me, Jeff wants to walk in his father’s footsteps.

I frown when I find it’s not Jeff but my father sending me a text. I read it twice because I know my dad can’t be this stupid. This shit doesn’t even deserve a reply.

I’m still boiling over his words from earlier. The reason I needed to come out here was to breathe in the first place. The man disgusts me on a new level.

“Your career as an entertainer is definitely over. Your focus should be on the family business. I made sure you had the best care, but you know those people.

“They’ll never see pasts those burns. Why bother with all that when you don’t have to?”

“Because it’s what I want,” I seethed.

“Well, it’s no longer an option. By the time you heal, you’ll be forgotten. That is, if you heal fully. On camera, it will all look much worse than it is. Do you really think you have the balls to take that?”

“I’ll be fine.”

“You’re my son. I’m looking out for you. It wasn’t just your face they wanted. It was your face and your body. You are useless to them now. Focus, Joshua. Come to Greece with me. Let’s show your pappoús you are ready.”

“Ready for what?” I bark into the phone.

My head pounds as my pressure rises. My accident wasn’t some sign for me to say yes to that life. I will find a way to do things on my own. It will be my life and my decisions.
