That he was clearly such a solitary person was kind of sad—for him, at least. Not so much for Naomi in this context, though. Because as potential bed partners went, he’d be safe. This was a person who didn’t let people close. It meant that he would keep a distance between them. He wouldn’t poke into her life and uncover secrets that needed to remain in few metaphorical hands.
“We don’t even always want the same woman in our bed, but my entities won’t fight me when it comes to you.” His gaze slid over her face. “You hold an appeal for all four of us. They each intend to fuck you raw, which is nothing compared to what I’ll do with you.”
Her belly fluttered at that. The dude had a way with words.
His eyes darkened with warning. “Let it be known that there will be no other men for you while you’re in my bed.”
She raised a brow at his audacity.
“Before you ask, yes, that exclusivity goes both ways.”
“You’re barreling forward like you’re certain I’ll be along for this ride.”
He raised a brow right back at her. “If you had any objections, you would have voiced them already.”
True. As she wasn’t into playing hard to get, she didn’t bother with denials. “Do you really think this would be a wise idea? I’m trying to keep Iain out of my life. You’re his Prime. If you and I started something, shallow fling or not, it would make matters worse.”
A line dented Luka’s brow. “How he would feel about it means nothing to me. Does it mean something to you?”
“No. I’d just prefer not to do anything that could exacerbate an already precarious situation.”
“Iain won’t put another foot into your life – I made that clear already.”
She nibbled on the inside of her cheek, pensive. It was long moments before she spoke again. “So, to review, you want—”
“You. Often. Whenever and wherever. However I want.” Luka’s cock throbbed as her pupils dilated. He’d been hard since almost the moment he walked in here. Partly because of her song, but also because their chemistry was alive in the air, thick and oppressive. It seemed to stroke over his skin, tug at his will, and form an itch in his fingertips—an itch to touch, grab, haul her to him.
He pulled in a breath through his nose, dragging her scent into his lungs. Stupid, really. Because the more he filled his senses with her, the more it would feed the relentless, molten need coursing through his system. “The only stipulation I want to put into place is that we’re exclusive.”
“Women talk and, well, I heard through the grapevine that you don’t insist on exclusivity.”
“Generally, I don’t. It depends on a few things.”
“Such as?”
“Like I explained before, it’s not always the case that my entities and I are all interested in taking a particular woman to our bed. Unlike the rest of us, Belial is territorial by nature. If it is invested in seducing the female in question, it will refuse to share her. It is very interested in you. Something I would imagine may unnerve you, given its reputation.
“You don’t need to fear any of my demons. Dagon is moody and will lie to you because that’s what it does to people. Abraxas will lay the charm on you and expect your complete adoration. Something of a sadist, Belial will bite and quite possibly spank you—it has a thing for your ass. But you’re safe with them, just as you are with me.”
Her nose wrinkled. “I’m not really into spanking.”
Belial grinned, now wanting to do it to her all the more, which was rather typical.
Just then, Nikandr’s psyche bumped Luka’s. A guy I recognize from a picture in Naomi’s background check is heading up the path. Pretty sure it’s her psi-mate. He noticed me and your car; doesn’t seem too happy that you’re here.
The latter could be because the imp presumed that Iain must have made another move . . . or because he didn’t want someone with Luka’s reputation near his anchor. “It would seem that your psi-mate is here,” he told her.
Moments later, knuckles rapped on her front door.
Muttering something beneath her breath, she unfolded her arms and left the room. When she finally re-entered, it was with a glowering male imp at her back.
Naomi cleared her throat. “Tobe, I’m guessing you recognize Luka Belinsky. Luka, this is my anchor, Tobe Burke.”
Luka inclined his head at the imp, who gave him a curt nod in return.
“What has Iain done now?” Tobe demanded.
“Nothing,” Naomi replied. “Luka came to tell me that he’s spoken with Iain as promised; that the asshole will now leave me be.”
Tobe narrowed his eyes on Luka, suspicious. “And that necessitated you coming to her home? You couldn’t have delivered the message via Jolene?”
