“Sound advice.”

“I’m Venus,” she said, offering her hand which I took. “I got word to Thorn they took you. He reached out to Rocket.”

“Lemon. I’m VP of Grim Road.” I put my shoulders back, proud of my designation in the club. “You have no idea how much I appreciate your help, Venus. You need to know, these guys were looking for you.”

Her gaze hardened. “You know this how?”

“There’s another man. He was going to scout out Bane. See if he could find a woman riding a pink Harley in case they were mistaken about me. Which, hello, Captain Obvious. The pink Harley was the only criteria I met on his list. When they got me, they made the comment that they thought I’d be more… pink. Unless you know of anyone else in this area fitting the description…”

She turned her attention to the men tied up on the floor. “Well, little boys…” She grinned, standing to her full height to look down at both men. “You have one chance to tell me who wants me. Then we take you apart.” She tapped one pointed nail against her lip. ”How long that takes? Depends on how quick you tell me what I want to know.”

Chapter Seven

Rocket

My heart was pounding in my chest. I was actually shaking as we followed Ripper’s directions. The first time she’d been taken I could hardly believe they’d brought her back into my territory. Dumb luck on my part but I’d take it.

I didn’t check to see where my brothers were or even try to hide the noise of my bike as I pulled up outside the tiny watch cabin. No one had used the place in years, but it was meant to be a place to keep watch over this section of our home. The fucking clubhouse was only a mile or so to the east, but Crush had set up cameras so no one had to use the shack unless they just wanted a place on the property to hide out by themselves a while.

When I shut down my bike, I heard a man’s shrill scream, followed by an angry, harsh female voice. It wasn’t Lemon’s voice. Rather it was more alto with a Russian accent.

“What the Goddamned fuck?” I hurried to the door, which had been kicked in. The cabin was more of a shack. One room with only a table, chairs, and a wood stove. The place was dusty and musty smelling, but not cluttered, so taking in the whole thing at a glance wasn’t difficult.

In the corner a man with black, greasy hair had gashes down his face that looked like claw marks. Blood oozed steadily, and that guy would definitely be scarred for life. Or rather, he would if he lived long enough for them to heal. Which I had it on good authority he wouldn’t. The other guy was a bloody fucking mess. Lemon knelt in front of the second guy, speaking so softly, I had no idea what she said. Whatever it was, though, had the guy whimpering and shaking his head so violently that blood was flung out from the mess of his face.

Venus stood well back, as if keeping watch. Her bike hadn’t been out front, but the woman was too smart for that. She’d have parked away from this place or camouflaged it carefully. She turned her head in my direction, not the least bit concerned, and acknowledged me with a lift of her chin.

“Please,” the guy Lemon was kneeling beside begged. “I’m sorry! I’m really sorry!”

“Oh, I’m sure you are,” Lemon replied mildly. “Now. But you see, the way you smacked me around, the threats you made to give me to your friends before you shipped me back to Rocket in multiple boxes, aaaallll that speaks way the fuck louder than your pitiful beggin’ now.”

Lemon had a pair of pliers in her hand. Likely from the tool kit we kept alongside the first aid kit and case of bottled water on the other side of the cabin. Her voice was calm. Almost conciliatory. But I knew my woman. Whatever she was planning on doing, she wouldn’t stop just because the fucker said he was sorry. She hadn’t turned her attention to me. I wasn’t even sure if she knew I was here or not. I hadn’t had the chance to examine her yet, but I did see bruising around one wrist. It was enough for me to know these guys were dead men. The only question was how long it was going to take for them to die.

“Come on! I said I was sorry! What do you want from me?” The guy was stressed to the max. Given the state of his face, I could understand. When Lemon raised those pliers to his face again, then gripped a studded piercing at the corner of his lip, the guy thrashed and tried to turn his head away from the instrument she held.
