“It’s been a long time for me. Over a year before I met you.”

I run my fingers through his hair. “I trust you.” I kiss the corner of his mouth. He quickly takes control of the kiss as his hand slides behind my neck with the other arm and locks me tight to him.

“I’ve never felt anything like it,” he confesses. “I’ve never been bare inside a woman, and now I never want to see a condom ever again.” I lift up and then drop back down, and he moans. “There are risks. Not of diseases since we’re both safe, but pregnancy. I know nothing is one-hundred percent.”

“Is this the lawyer in you covering all your bases?” I tease.

“No. This is the man who loves you and wants to make sure this choice is yours. I’ll wear them if you want me to.”

“I don’t want you to,” I say, lifting on my knees again and slowly sliding back over him. We both moan at the move, and I have to fight to keep my eyes from rolling in the back of my head. Who knew that thin piece of latex made that big of a difference? Then again, maybe it’s just because we know it’s not there.

“And the risk of pregnancy?” he asks.

I stop moving and stare into his gorgeous honey-colored eyes. “You see, there’s this man. He’s kind, loving, and so damn handsome. He also loves me. He showed me what it truly means to be loved. He told me that his love for me was the forever kind of love.”

“Sounds like a great guy.”

“Oh, he is,” I assure him with a small smile. “He’s also the kind of man who you build a life with. The kind of man you want to start a family with.” I pause, letting that sink in. “I love you, Deacon. I don’t think we’re ready for kids just yet, but if it were to happen, I know I won’t be doing it alone.”

“Never with me,” he says, his voice gruff. “You will never be alone again. Never.” His arms wrap around me, hugging me so tight I can barely breathe, but I don’t tell him that. Instead, I hold him just as tightly. When I feel his arms start to relax, I begin to lift my hips.

He lets me set the pace. I find a steady rhythm as his hands roam over every inch of my skin. When he reaches between us and thumbs my clit, I call out his name. His hips thrust upward, and he stills. I feel him release inside me, and it’s hot as hell knowing he’s doing so with nothing between us.

He holds me to him. We’re both breathing heavily. He somehow manages to move to the side of the bed, with his cock still buried inside me. “What are we doing?” I sputter with laughter when he stands, gripping my ass cheeks.

“We need a shower. I made a mess of you, and it’s got nowhere to go.”

Realization dawns on me. “Good point.” He carries me to the bathroom and manages to turn the water on. He kisses me while he waits for it to warm and then steps under the spray with me still in his arms. My body slides over his, and I can feel the result of our lovemaking on my inner thighs.

Deacon manages to wash us both, dirty me up again, and then wash us both again before we leave the shower. Maybe we should skip Sunday dinner and stay here.

“What time do we have to be there?” Deacon asks, handing me a towel.

“Five. But we can stay here.”

“Nope. We’re going. You’ve worked every Sunday for the entire time you’ve worked at the Tavern. It’s time to get to spend some quality time with the people who love you.”

I don’t dispute that. I miss my aunt and uncle, and it’s been a really long time since I’ve seen the twins too. They’re not old enough to hang out at the Tavern. It will be nice to get to see everyone. “I hope they can all make it. That would be nice to have everyone together.”

“I’m sure they’ll be there.” He kisses me and strides out of the bathroom.

A few minutes later, I’m dried off, and walking out to find my clothes. Deacon tosses his phone on the bed. “Everything okay?”

“Let’s see, I made love to you twice today, and it’s not even noon. I’d say everything is perfect.” He slips a pair of jeans over his hips. “I’m going to go make us some lunch.”

I nod and watch as he slides a T-shirt over his head and grabs his phone and a pair of socks off the bed. Suddenly he’s right in front of me.

“Rams, if you keep looking at me like that, we’re going to have to take another shower.”
