None of the answers I came up with were acceptable. Why would she manipulate me to look and act like, even smell like my grandfather? My feet were moving before my brain caught up with my intentions. I knew there was something going on with those two; I knew what I saw, and yet I’d started to doubt myself since coming back here.

“Where the hell is she?” I ran downstairs and searched every corner of the house, but she was nowhere to be found. The servants claim they hadn’t seen her, but I’m not so sure I can trust them either. Maybe it’s the house? When I couldn’t find her anywhere, my anger just kept growing until I remembered that I hadn’t checked the camera footage for the day yet. How the hell had it slipped my mind?

I ran back upstairs and into my room with my heart racing. This time, I was sure. I don’t know how or why, but I knew in my gut that I was going to see something. I looked at the camera in her room first and fast-forwarded until about half an hour past her bedtime. There wasn’t much to see except for the dreamy look on her face as she spritzed herself with perfume from one of those old fashion perfume bottles with the pump.

As I watched her, a scent came to mind, but I could neither place it nor recall where I’d smelt it before. Yeah, she’s fucking alright; look at what she’s wearing. I didn’t like that, even knowing that my dick still got hard. I didn’t appreciate the fact that I liked the way she looked, the way she moved. I even liked that languid look on her face with a hint of excitement in her eyes.

There was a slight sound in the background that she seemed to catch at the same time I did sitting here. It sounded like something classical. I don’t recall hearing any music in the house last night—especially not any that sounded like the stuff grandpa used to enjoy.

I watched as she left the room and headed down the hallway as I changed to the cameras out there. Bummer, she headed upstairs towards the attic. I didn’t put any cameras up there. I switched over to my room and went ahead to about the same time as I’d started hers. I frowned when I found the bed empty.

Though I don’t recall exactly what time I went to bed the night before, I was sure I was in my room before she left for hers. Where the hell am I? I fast-forwarded once again until I saw movement on the screen other than the blurs of the last five minutes or so.

“What the fuck? Is that…?” I sat stunned and disbelieving at the tableau I saw unfolding on the screen. That was me, but somehow a different me. It was my face, my body, but not the way I move. But I know that walk, that tilt of the head. I watched me carry her naked to my room, then switched from watching the footage from the camera in the hallway back to the one in my room.

I don’t know how long I sat there both hard as fuck and pissed beyond all reason. I now know who’s been fucking the shit out of her, saw myself leave each and every one of those marks that cover her front and back, and how hard I was fucking her at the time. Passion doesn’t begin to describe what I just watched. But now I’m more pissed off than I was before. Where the hell is she?

ELLIE

I’m not sure what’s going on, but Ms. Horton called not long after I stepped out of the shower and told me to get out of the house. I didn’t understand at first since she was the one that had begged me not too long ago to stay. But the urgency in her voice didn’t leave room for questions, so I just threw on a yellow summer dress that came to my knees and left my arms, shoulders, and back bare. It was one of my aunts from when she was a young girl.

She used to love to see me wear it. I once got the feeling that it was the dress she’d worn the day she met Hal because he’d always get this dreamy look on his face whenever I wore it. I didn’t stop to put my shoes on but carried them in my hand, not even sure where I was running off to.

Since I didn’t have a car, there really wasn’t much I could do, especially once it started to rain as soon as my feet hit the cobblestone walkway. I ran hard towards the old oak covered in Spanish moss and found cover beneath its huge branches and plentiful coverage.
