“James Bardot,” I mumbled gruffly, irritated at the notion that anyone besides me could see so much of her leg.

Not wanting to scare her off, I curled my mouth into a smile and forced myself to release her hand. “Welcome to JB Capital.”

“Thank you.”

Her tone was breathless, and I wanted to bang my head against a wall as thoughts of her saying my name in that sexy voice while I pleasured her bombarded me.

“Why don’t we go into my office?” I suggested. At least there, I could sit behind my desk until my dick wasn’t threatening to bust the zipper on my very expensive suit pants.

I stepped to the side and gestured toward the hallway on the left of the lobby. Samantha smiled, and as she walked in front of me, my eyes were glued to the sway of her hips and heart-shaped ass. “It’s nice to put a face to a name,” I murmured as I caught up to her and put a hand on her lower back, then steered her to the door at the end of the corridor and into my office.

Samantha gasped and hurried over to the wall of windows that looked out over the city of Chicago. The sun was just beginning to set, and it cast a colorful glow over the buildings. “This is beautiful!”

“Yes, it is,” I replied, my gaze still focused on her.

She looked back at me over her shoulder, and when our eyes met, I wasn’t able to completely shutter my growing hunger for her. A blush stole across her face again, and before she caught sight of my hard-on, I strode over to my desk and dropped onto my chair. Shit. Get a hold of yourself, Bardot.

Turning around, Samantha wandered over to one of the chairs in front of my desk and perched on the edge. “I agree that it’s nice to put a face to a name, which is why I wanted to stop by before the inspection tomorrow and introduce myself. I’m staying at a hotel nearby, so I’ll be here early to go over all of the paperwork before I meet the inspector at the site.”

I frowned. For some reason, the thought of her alone at a hotel didn’t sit well with me. She would be much too far away from me. “Where are you staying?” The question popped out before I had a chance to examine my motives.

She named a very nice hotel that wasn’t too far up the road, and I kept my expression neutral as I followed up with, “Have you checked in yet?”

“No.”

I swallowed a wicked smile and shook my head. “You don’t want to stay there. It’s not as nice as it looks. Besides, it wouldn’t be very hospitable of me if I didn’t insist that my friend’s sister stay with me.” The half-truth slid smoothly off my tongue.

However, that comment made me think about something I’d been successfully ignoring. Samantha was my friend’s little sister. Technically, I would be breaking some kind of “bro code” if I went after Samantha. Then again, we weren’t frat brothers in college, so did I really give a shit about it?

Fuck no.

I’d known from the moment I saw Samantha that she was a “forever” kind of woman, not a “for right now.” Not that I’d ever been into the latter. And with so much of my focus on my business, I’d had no time for a relationship. I couldn’t even remember the last time I was tempted to consider it. But it had only taken an instant to decide that I wanted everything with Samantha.

It might put a strain on my relationship with Landon for a while, but he’d get over it when he saw how happy Samantha was. Because I intended to make her deliriously happy.

Knocking her up would ensure he didn’t try to break us up.

An image of my woman with my baby inside her round belly had my cock leaking, and I curled my hands into fists so hard my knuckles popped.

It drew Samantha’s attention, and I immediately relaxed them so she wouldn’t think I was frustrated or angry with her.

“Would you invite Landon to stay with you?” she queried hesitantly.

“Of course,” I blatantly lied. I felt a momentary pang of guilt, but there wasn’t much I wouldn’t do to get Samantha in my bed. Our bed. I tried that out in my head and found I liked it a whole fuck of a lot. So I smiled charmingly and watched in triumph as she blushed and returned it.

“Okay.”

I practically jumped to my feet, not about to give her time to change her mind. My suit coat was draped over my chair, and I quickly swung it on, buttoning it in a strategic spot so that it helped hide my body’s reaction to her.
