Brad pauses for a moment.

“I have moved on,” he says in a low voice. “This wasn’t about your mom.”

“What then?” I ask.

He turns to me once more.

“It made me realize that I’m an old codger.”

“No you’re not! You’re only forty-five!”

He nods.

“Yeah, but there’s also a difference in the way women behaved when I was nineteen, and now. I thought women were still repressed creatures, who only parted their legs for one man at a time. I didn’t realize that they’d want to engage in the kind of depravity that I enjoy myself.”

I stare at him.

“Yes, but you’ve been to sex clubs before, right? I mean, this wasn’t your first time. So why was it a surprise to see women being … I don’t know, nasty?”

He shrugs.

“I guess seeing Janine brought it home for me. She’s someone that I know. A woman that I dated, even. Previously, I thought skanks and hos only existed in certain areas: clubs, bars, and brothels. But Janine made me re-think things. She made me question my values because although we didn’t date for long, it was real, which means my pre-conceived notions about women were dead wrong.”

This makes me frown up at him.

“You know that women want it just as much as men do,” I chide. “It doesn’t make us slutty, or easy, or whatever.”

“I didn’t say that,” Brad replies quickly.

“But you thought it?” I offer. He thinks a moment. “No,” he says finally, resolute. “I didn’t think you were being slutty or easy. But I thought it was perhaps a little childish. I didn’t see your game for what it actually was.”

“Which is?” I ask him sassily, wanting him to say it.

“You wanted me,” he growls, looking down at me. “Right?” I blush, forcing myself not to look away. “Pretending to be a sex doll was your way of expressing yourself, however nasty and debauched it might be.”

“Yes,” I murmur, unwilling to hide the truth. “But I knew you would never have played along it if I’d flirted with you openly. Because of my mom. Because of my age.”

“And you’re right about that,” Brad confesses. “Even though I wanted you too, I probably would have rejected you on those grounds alone. But that’s why I’m apologizing, Chrissy. Because I actually accepted your advances by playing along with your game, and it wasn’t the right choice.”

“It wasn’t?” I breathe, disappointment seeping through me. Oh shit. He’s ending it for the second time, and my stomach drops to my feet.

“No,” Brad rasps, looking into my eyes. The sexual tension between us is so thick you could cut it with a knife.

“So what are you trying to say then?” I mewl, utterly confused now. “I don’t get it.”

The alpha male takes a deep breath before clasping my hand in his broad palm.

“What I’m trying to say is that I regret what happened—” My heart contracts because this is where it ends. He’s going to break up with me for certain. But then he continues. “Because I should have lifted that sheet from your beautiful face, told you off for pretending to be a sex doll, and asked you if you wanted to be with me for real. I should have kissed you, like this.” Suddenly his lips are on mine, kissing me deeply, hungrily. I return his kiss, my arms snaking up around his neck, drinking in his masculine scent. It feels so hot, and so right, to finally kiss the man I’ve been physically intimate with twice now. Too soon, Brad pulls away and looks deep into my eyes. Those blue eyes flash with lust, but also with something else. Could it be … intimacy?

As if reading my mind, the handsome man nods.

“Chrissy Kingham,” he growls in a low voice. “I’ve started falling for you, and I want to make a go of this.” My heart pounds happily in my chest and I can’t help but grin in delight. “Would you be interested? Please say yes.”

For the first time, I realize that Brad’s nervous too. There’s a high flush along his cheeks, and the pulse in his throat pounds.

“I, um,” I stammer, almost unable to speak from giddiness, “I’ve started falling for you, too.”

“So, you’ll stay? At least for now?” he presses eagerly.

“Yes,” I breathe, wanting to remain with Brad with all my heart. “Absolutely. I want to see where this can go, Brad.”

“Good,” he grins. “Because I’ll make it worth it for you, baby. But first, there’s something we need to do.”

“What?” I ask curiously, but from the look on his face, and his eyes which are now roving my curves, I already know what he’s thinking. And I want the same. He kisses me deep and hard, his tongue caressing mine, as he pushes me onto the bare mattress of my bed. Sighing with lust and happiness, I pull his hard, muscular frame onto mine and allow Brad to take me, deep and slow, openly making love as a man and woman for the first time. After all, who knew this would happen? We’ve already overcome incredible challenges: from his relationship with my mom, to our age gap, to the fact that I used to pretend to be one of his plastic friends. But now, we’re going to give things a real go … and I can’t wait to explore for real.
