“Oh you’ll never forget you met me.” His hand slid forward, running over her thigh.

Desire burned within her. His body pressing against hers was a delicious heat. His groin pushed against her butt, hard and hot and ready.

She once again picked up his hand by the wrist, but this time, she flung it away. “Maybe not, but I’ll be glad once my dealings with you are over. A human—a Chester, no less—has no business messing with a fae.”

He leaned his head closer, his mouth grazing her ear. She closed her eyes as an explosion of butterflies filled her stomach.

“You are so much more than a mere Chester,” he murmured. His breath washed goosebumps across her skin. “So much more than a human. You have the radiance of a god.”

Fuck, he was charming. It was unsettling.

She jabbed back with her elbow, connecting hard with his chest. “Stop or I’ll walk. If I walk, I’ll try to run. Then you’ll have to chase me, and it’ll be a whole thing. Let’s just get to the Faegate so I can flag down a Celestial and get the hell out of here.”

His chuckle was sinful and deep. “Is that what you want?” His hard length throbbed against her. His chest coated her back. Electricity sizzled between them, and her mind started to buzz in a way that said he couldn’t read it. Not like she could conjure up any thoughts anyway. There was only one thing drifting along the edges of her mind. One primal thing she could hold on to as carnal desire rumbled through her.

She leaned back harder against him, resting her head against his collarbone, sliding her hands up his thighs, and he quickly slid his palms over her hips.

“I want to run my lips over every inch of your skin,” he murmured huskily, his lips still grazing the shell of her ear.

“I don’t care,” she whispered, lost in the heaven of his touch, sucking in a breath when his hand slid toward the apex between her thighs.

“I want to strip these clothes from your body and lick up your center until you are panting and begging to feel me deeper.”

She continued to run her hands along his legs, on the outside of his thighs, reaching for his hips. For his butt.

His fingers trailed along the seam of her pants. He stopped at exactly the right place and applied pressure, and everything went fuzzy.

“I want to push into you, slowly, until I’m so deep that all you know is my touch.” His voice was raspy and dark. Its texture promised secret delights she’d never known.

She reached his hips and kept going, applying pressure, wanting him closer. Wanting less fabric between them. She angled her head, and he immediately sought the hot skin of her neck with his lips.

“I want to take my time with you, little dove. I want to hear you moan so beautifully as our bodies tangle together. As I thrust into you, over and over and over again—”

Her breath came faster. Her resolve wobbled.

Before she completely lost control, she snatched the hilt of his dagger from his belt, ripped it from its sheath, twisted her torso and arm, and slammed it toward his kidney. It was a very difficult maneuver while sitting this way, and though she’d never practiced it on a horse, she’d become an expert in similar sitting arrangements. She was now eternally thankful for what she’d thought of at the time as somewhat odd training.

The dagger’s tip dug just a fraction into his flesh…before her arm froze up. Before she lost the feeling in her fingers.

He groaned, continuing his ministrations, rubbing perfectly, speeding her toward climax.

She wrestled with the magic stopping her hand, tried to force that knife in deeper—

Her body exploded in pleasure. She shook with the release.

“I notice you didn’t stop my fingers whilst trying to kill me,” he said, his voice hinting at satin bedsheets and sweaty bodies. She wondered if his eyes had that river of gold that indicated his throbbing desire. Wondered if he’d feel as fucking amazing as this preview had hinted.

“An orgasm while you died was supposed to be the icing,” she said as dryly as her labored breathing would allow.

His laugh rumbled through his chest, and his lips continued gliding along her neck. She didn’t stop that, either. Didn’t want to. Really needed to.

He sucked in her skin but pulled back, reaching around to dislodge the dagger.

“What do you have against my shirts? You keep ruining them.” He took the weapon from her numb fingers. “And now look. It has blood on it. That’ll never come out.”

She wiped her brow. “Your shirt is collateral damage.”

“Obviously.” He cleaned the dagger and slid it back into its sheath. “I wondered when you would go for that blade. It’s just been sitting there, grinning at you, all this time. I will say, that was very good timing. I couldn’t have planned it better. If it had been any old fae blade, I’d be dead.”
