“Hey! That’s not fair,” I scold him then laugh until my belly aches.

“Okay, I’m sorry. I couldn’t help myself. This spoon is yours,” he says and dips the spoon back into the mountain of ice cream.

I open my mouth and wait as he slides the spoon between my lips. Our eyes meet and I have to ask myself why I suddenly feel a rush of wetness between my thighs. Then, I realize it’s because of his reaction to me. Naked want flares in his eyes, and it’s making me think about all of the wild, rough, and amazing things he could do to me.

He pulls back the spoon, and I clear my throat. “Look, there are two spoons. We should eat it before it melts.”

The last twenty miles of the trip is uneventful. I close my eyes and imagine what it would be like to have Malcolm as more than just my agent. Is there a chance that maybe we could fall in love and spend the rest of our lives together? At this rate, I believe those things only happen in fairy tales, and I’d be better off focusing on my career.

We pull up to the Olympic Training Center, and Malcolm collects my bags.

“What about your stuff?” I ask him.

“Oh, I’m not allowed to stay in the complex. The sleeping rooms are for athletes only. I have a reservation at a hotel just down the road.’

My heart sinks a little in my chest. I don’t know what I was thinking. It’s not like I expected us to be sharing a room. Still, it would be nice to know that he’s just down the hall.

The woman behind the desk checks me in and hands me a room key, a meal schedule, and a map of the complex.

“I guess this is it, then,” I tell Malcolm.

“I guess it is. Get some rest and I’ll meet you for breakfast in the morning.”

“The trip was really fun. Thank you for making it that way for me.”

“Anything for you, sweetheart.”

I wrap my arms around his neck and lean in to kiss his cheek, but he turns his head and I end up planting a kiss right on his lips. It’s just a little peck but it ignites that newly discovered fire inside me and leaves me wanting more.

“Good night, baby girl,” he whispers.

“Good night, Malcolm.” I watch as he exits through the glass doors.

MALCOLM

Six in the morning can’t come fast enough for me even though I barely slept a wink.

I spent a large portion of the night staring at all of the pictures I had taken of Marissa on our road trip. The ones she posed for along with all of the candid shots that I snuck when she wasn’t paying attention. After all this time seeing her on social media and in sports magazines, I can’t believe I’m finally the one taking the pictures that make my dick stand at full attention. I’ve been across the country and halfway across the world and nothing has ever made me feel the way this little girl made me feel yesterday.

I arrive at the training complex and show security the badge I was given last night. They wave me through the metal detectors, and I follow the signs to the mess hall. The hall is crowded with young Olympic hopefuls, bragging about their medals and potential product endorsements. I scan the crowd looking for Marissa and find her sitting alone at a corner table.

She looks so tiny and helpless in this room full of boisterous narcissists. If she only knows how brightly she outshines them all. Some people might wonder if knowing would change her as a person, but I don’t think it would. She has to know how beautiful and talented she is. She just doesn’t let it go to her head.

She spots me and suddenly comes to life. She waves at me with a big smile, and I weave through the clusters of chattering kids to get to her.

“I didn’t think you were going to make it,” she says as I sit down beside her.

“I told you I’d be here.”

“Well, I ordered you eggs and bacon. They said if we don’t order when they come by, we don’t eat.”

“Considering how much I paid to have you here, they should be serving you breakfast in bed in champagne and roses.”

“I never thanked you for this. There’s no way my father would have sent me here. I’d still be training alone in the rec center until tryouts if it weren’t for you.”

“No need to thank me, sweetheart. I want only the best for you.”

Our breakfast arrives but all I’m interested in is the carafe of black coffee on the tray beside it. I don’t think I’ve had more than four hours of sleep in the last three days combined.
