The alarm rings the next morning and I’m on my stomach on the side of the bed, instead of the middle of the bed like I always am. The duvet is covering just my ass and legs, leaving my back exposed. I hear a groan from beside me and look over to see Knox on the other side of my bed, with one hand over his head and the other hand on his chest. One leg is straight, the other one bent. His head is turned away from me and I want to kick myself for sleeping with him again. The first time, in the car, I blamed it on the drinks and the fact I was horny. Then, the second time, he came to my door to return my panties. I was going to kick him out, but with his mouth on mine, I forgot my own fucking name. Then he fucked my brains out , not once, not twice, but three times. I fell asleep and thought when I woke up he would be gone, but nope, he’s still here. “What time is it?” he mumbles, his eyes still closed.

“Time for you to get out.” I turn my head the other way and reach for my phone to stop the blaring alarm. “You need to leave.”

“Yeah,” he agrees, and I feel movement happening when the sheet begins to move off me. My eyes look at the side table, where three condom wrappers are staring back at me, judging me.

I move my legs to the side of the bed, grabbing the sheet with me, and holding it to my chest. “How are you still here?” I look over and see him putting on his boxers and covering the only thing I like about him.

“I’m getting dressed, Ky.” He uses a nickname that has only been used a couple of times in my life, not more, because every time someone has used it, I told them I didn’t like it. I’m not going to bother telling him that, since I plan on never, ever speaking to him again.

I drag the sheet out from the bed, tugging it, and holding it to my chest, even though he’s seen me naked and has pretty much touched every single fucking part of me. “Can you do it faster?” I ask him and he glares, grabbing his joggers and putting them on. “This is never happening again.” I don’t know why I say it, I just do.

He walks to the edge of the bed as he bends to snatch up his T-shirt, putting it on over his head and covering up everything else I like on him. “Oh, trust me…” His voice is tight. “I know. I never go back for a third time.” I should be happy with this statement, but it stings. “It’s just not worth the effort.” He walks out of the room, and I close my eyes as I listen to the front door open and slam shut.

“Asshole,” I mutter, grabbing the condom wrappers in my hand angrily. “He is such a dick.” I drop the sheet from around my body, going into the bathroom and throwing the wrappers in the garbage. Then I turn and walk to the shower and turn on the water. “Wash him off of you and get on with your day.” I give myself a pep talk. Stepping into the shower, I grab the loofah and think about putting some body wash on it before I throw it down. “This calls for a full body scrub,” I tell myself, grabbing the brown sugar body scrub.

I step out after I’ve exfoliated him off me, grabbing my white robe before walking into the kitchen to make myself a coffee. I stop when I see the white satin panties lying in the middle of the floor. The television still on pause from when he stormed in here. I stomp to the panties, picking them up and then stomp to the kitchen, tossing them into the garbage. “There, now I never have to see them and think of him,” I tell myself as I make a coffee, taking it with me to the bathroom where I get ready for work.

After grabbing a pair of white pants with a pleat down the front, I slip on a thin, white, long-sleeve sweater with blue lines across it. I grab a pair of blue Chucks to make it less dressy and more casual. I tuck the front of the shirt into the pants and let the sides and the back hang loose.

I walk out of the apartment and head to the elevator, my mind forcing myself not to think of him. I press the button once and then twice, and then five times trying to hurry it up.

The drive to the office is filled with music at full volume, trying to drown out my thoughts. I pull into my parking spot and notice Lexi is already here. Ready to move on with my day, I exit the elevator on our floor and walk to the brown door, opening it and stepping in.
