“There’re no phones allowed in here!” Jacques looked at him. Was that a nervous twitch?

“Just a bit of information that’s come to light, gentlemen.” He glanced quickly at the video while everyone erupted into demands around the table.

Cairn stepped in front of the door.

Alejandro smiled in triumph. He had the fucker.

He glanced across the table. The other man looked back at him in resignation. Then a cold look crossed his face.

“What the fuck is going on?” Vince demanded. “De Leon, get your ape away from the door and let us leave.”

“Do not insult my man,” Alejandro replied coldly. “And you should sit down and shut the fuck up, you’re going to want to see this. I’ve sent something to a private server which should ping to your phones shortly. You’ll only be able to watch it once before it deletes.”

He sent them all the video footage that The Scot had sent him.

“What is it?” Gavin asked, reaching for his phone.

“It’s proof that one of you has been working against me. He’s been playing the long game which I commend him for. He’s had a rat amongst my men for two years now. But he got greedy. Decided he wanted to move into my turf. Thought he was invincible, that he wouldn’t get caught stealing from me.”

“Who?” Jacques asked in a terse voice.

“Who? He’s sitting right next to you.”

Jacques and Hudson, who were sitting on either side of Sammy, wisely moved away from him, leaving him sitting there.

Sammy looked calm, but Alejandro saw sweat drip down his face.

“There’s no proof.”

“I had one of my men give your rat false information. That a supply of guns was being stored in the warehouse on the video. And tonight, some of your men stole those cases of guns. Only my men were waiting to take them back. They’ve all been rounded up and are now being escorted to one of my other warehouses. For questioning.”

“You fucking asshole!” Sammy spat out.

“Me? I’m the asshole? You went against me. You should’ve known better than to cross me.”

“It’s all lies!” Sammy said. “You’ve been trying to get rid of me so you can take over my territory. You’re fucking jealous.”

“Of what?” Tariq drawled. “Your paltry gambling dens? The fights at the Pit? No one wants your turf. You barely made the cut to get a chair at this table and now you’ve gone and fucked it all up. You have my vote.”

Alejandro nodded.

“Vote? What vote?” Sammy asked.

“You know what vote,” Reuben said in a bored voice. “The vote on whether to take you out.”

“No one is taking me out! This is all a fucking set up!” Sammy cried.

“Facts don’t lie,” Reuben said. “And you were caught red-handed.”

“Why the fuck do you get to bring your lawyer?” Sammy yelled. “And why do we always meet where you want to meet?” He stormed once again over to Cairn who stood, arms over his chest. “Get out of my way.”

Alejandro knew Cairn wouldn’t move without his permission. So he took his time, leaning back in the chair. He looked around at the rest of them.

“I vote yes,” Vince said, looking gleeful.

“Yes,” Hudson added, looking bored.

“Yes,” Gavin said.

Jacques nodded, looking bored. “Yes. I assume you’ll be taking over his territory.”

Fuck. He had no wish to take it over. But as the one he’d wronged it was his right.

“For the moment.”

Jacques gave him a calculating look. No doubt wondering how he could get his hands in the pie.

“No one is taking over my turf. It’s fucking mine!” Sammy’s face was purple as he swung his fist at Cairn. The other man easily subdued him, taking him to the floor with a couple of punches.

“He’s out?” Alejandro asked.

“Yeah, Boss.”

“Good, take him out back.” He knew Cairn would have him taken to one of the interrogation warehouses. Not that he expected there would be much to discover, but just in case he had any other information.

Cairn dragged the body out and Reuben took up watch by the door.

“Is your guard-dog lawyer going to stop us from leaving?” Tariq drawled, not looking particularly worried.

“Not at all,” Alejandro replied smoothly. “Just wanted us all to be on the same page about what happened here tonight.”

“Nothing happened as far as I know,” Hudson said.

“That’s right. I had a nice poker game with some close friends and acquaintances.” Tariq sneered at Vince.

“We all know the consequences of betrayal,” Gavin said. “We may not be exactly loyal to each other. All of us have our fingers in illegal pies, but we agreed not to turn on each other. We all know the consequences of betrayal. Sammy broke that pact, so he’ll pay the consequences that come with it.”

Doing this so openly was risky. But there was no way any of them could pin this on him. Each man was patted down before coming in here. The place was clean. Sure, Martin and Starla knew they were all back here . . . but even if they blabbed, there was still no proof of what had happened in here.
