“Wait, are you serious—oh, I, uh… But isn’t Kingsley—I mean, surely s-someone else—”
At that point, Tate—and those around him—started laughing, and Lucian caught on and got very miffed. He even scoffed and stalked off.
KC laughed the hardest.
Since I don’t have any other fun things to share, I asked Corey to draw something cute and “Shay-like.”
I won’t see the result until the book is being formatted, but I’m sure it will be just lovely.
FROM AUGUST, IVY, AND EV
From August
Dear Shay,
It’s been over two weeks since you were taken, and we still haven’t been able to process it. Or accept it. Between work, the boys, and having Ivy on bed rest, I think we’ve resigned ourselves to living in a fog until you’re home again. Maybe it’s easier? We don’t want to reconcile the fact that your life is in danger. It’s heartbreaking what you’re going through.
We are trying our hardest to stay positive. Everyone knows that the Tenley Three are the fighters of Mclean. If anyone can pull through this hell, it’s you, River, and Reese.
We wish you a safe journey home to where you belong, and once you’re ready to face us…
Ivy is preparing the mother of all care packages.
Ev is on standby for any distraction you might want.
I’m ready to remove anything you don’t want to see in the app, whether it’s a certain name, word, phrase, account, or group. The site is unfortunately flooded with talk about you, particularly in members’ journal entries and status updates. But give me the word, and those posts are gone.
Hope to see you soon, pet,
August

I’m so sorry I’m not making more of an effort to write to you, honey. I miss you so much, and I can’t fucking stop crying. I blame the pregnancy hormones, but let’s face it…
God, you’ve been through enough. You all have. I am so sorry for y’all.
But like Daddy said, you will pull through.
Love you bunches!
Ivy, the resident baby factory.

Dude, this is too rough. I wish I could roll into the nearest base, borrow a jet, and come get you. Why aren’t civilians allowed to own operational fighters? I’d just need it for 24 hours. I hate being a civilian sometimes.
Ignore my bitching. Fight back. Kill those sons of bitches. And when I see you again, we’ll do whatever you want.
Love,
Ev
FROM LUCIAN & CAM
From Lucian
During this horrifying time, I’ve found myself thinking a lot about how you’ve evolved these past few years. You started out as an angry fighter. You believed you deserved pain. You sure played dirty to get it. But underneath, we all discovered a sweetheart who just needed a little bit of guidance.
You’re still a fighter, but my God, you’ve come a long way. You’re more equipped than ever to make it through—and you will. It’s an order, Shay. You have an entire community behind you, waiting to be of any assistance. Including me.
For instance, if, during your recovery, River and Reese decide you should or shouldn’t do something—because it’s in your best interest—I will gladly help you be sneaky from time to time.
Noa taught me that during my health scare. It’s important to do what’s best for you—but every now and then, you must break a rule or two. Or in his words,
“You gotta check the boundaries from the other side of the fence sometimes.”
All my best wishes,
Lucian

Hi, Shay.
Mr. West asked me to proof everyone’s entry, and in the process, I deleted two of my own.
I want to offer something different, I suppose.
Or slightly different, I should say, because Kit mentioned something similar.
Personally, I feel better when I can help. Maybe you’re the same way? In which case, Mr. Fighter who’s just been to hell and back…could you do me a favor and teach me some self-defense?
I would love to learn some basics.
No rush, of course. And it goes without saying that dinner and snacks are on me if you find the time for a few lessons. But yeah. When you come out on the other side, maybe needing a break from all the generosity of others, I could really use a teacher like you.
I miss you.
Love,
Cam
FROM NOA & KAYCE
From Noa
Hi.
Idon’t know what to write here.
Everything is wrong, and the world is ugly.
You were supposed to come back from your vacation after learning how to surf.
Instead, you got kidnapped and hurt. Maybe you’ll die. But if you’re reading this, I was wrong about the last part.
I hope I’m wrong about the last part.
Please let me be wrong.
Fuck the world.
Noa
From KC
Hello, little Tenley.
No words can describe how worried we are. Much like Noa, I don’t really know what to write to you. It took me three days just to produce these sad little words. But I figured, I’m better at being productive, so I took Noa shopping yesterday.
When River and Reese bring you back, you’ll see three boxes on your doorstep. Inside, you will find new pajamas, way too much candy that Noa picked out, gift codes for all the streaming services we could find, more ramen cups than Reese will approve of, gift cards from DoorDash and Uber Eats, what Noa called a few “mandatory Squishmallows,” a blanket the size of a house, and plenty of treats for your dogs.
