“Yes. I understand.” Nodding, I get up and get dressed. She lays in bed the entire time watching me under hooded eyes. It takes everything inside of me not to fuck her again before I leave. Her words are spinning in my mind, leaving a bad taste in my mouth like she thinks this is temporary or optional for her.

Dressed and about to walk out, I lean over and grip one of her nipples. She squeals, eyes watering, face concerned and confused. “Don’t shower before you leave this room. I want you walking around smelling like me and feeling me drip down your legs.” She runs her finger over my frown lines.

“Are you upset?” Her soft voice, filled with love and warmth melts the ice that was forming inside of me.

“I just don’t like the idea of you away from me and the thought that you don’t want what I want is like a fucking shot to the heart, angel.”

“I’m sorry you thought that, Jake. I want to be with you. I was trying to make a joke. I love you. I meant that.” I hang my head at my own insecurities and kiss her fingers.

“I love you, angel. I want it all with you. Everything fuckign thing.”

“Good. I want it too.” She smiles and kisses me before watching me walk out the door. I really hope she means it because once I leave there, neither of us is going back.

Chapter 11

Mila

December-Month One

“Where do you think you’re going, young lady?” My mother stands in front of the door, tapping her foot with her overly painted nails crossed over her arms.

“To school if it is all the same to you.” Her face says she doesn’t believe me and I am getting sick of it.

Ever since last month when I got back from my weekend away with Jake, my parents have been on the warpath. I suppose it doesn’t help that I ignored every last one of their calls that weekend. I know I should have been worried about repercussions but when I got home all I could do was think about the next time I get to be with him.

My father watched, horrified as I stepped out of Jacob’s truck and kissed him when he dropped me off. I turned to find his overweight face, red and shiny from sweat which is something he does often when he is frustrated. I grabbed my bags, attempting to move away from him so my father doesn’t say something mean to him, but Jake wouldn’t have it. He held on to my hip, leering at my father. “Young lady you get over here right now!” My father scolds, practically tripping down the stairs. I can feel Jacob vibrating next to me pissed that someone other than him dares to tell me what to do. “Mila.” My dad’s no nonsense tone makes me roll my eyes.

“You don’t have to stay here.” Jake says in my ear, kissing my neck. I turn to look at this gorgeous man, who would protect me against all others and lean into him.

“I am fine, babe. It’s okay. I will call you later.” I look in his eyes as I kiss him so he knows I am serious. There is no part of me that fears my parents. In honesty I never have. I just didn’t have a reason to defy them. Now, with Jake I do.

“Make sure you do.” Are his last words before he grips my ass in front of my father’s face, holds the back of my neck with the other, his hands pulling my hair so he has control of my mouth and kisses me like he thinks he won’t see me again. I can’t think about the fact that I can hear my father practically having a heart attack behind us. I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him back, letting him know nothing and no one will keep us apart.

“That’s it. You take your hands off my daughter this instant.” My body tenses and I pull away from Jake because I know this will not end well. I whisper ‘please’ in his ear and look into his eyes. I plead with him to believe me. He gives me a slight nod and walks back to his car. Taking a deep breath, I turn and face my father. “You listen here young lady I will not have you soiling our name with that..that roughneck from across the tracks. I demand you stop seeing him at once.” Is he serious? My expression must show this thought because he walks into my face and begins to spit. He is so pissed. “I am serious. I don’t want to repeat myself, Mila.” I don’t bother answering him. I simply roll my eyes and walk past him. You’d have thought I spat on his ten thousand dollar Stacey Adams shoes. I’ll be damned if he keeps me from Jacob.
