“Then I guess you better feed me.” There’s a slight inuendo beneath her words, one I’ll make good on once we iron a few details out. While she was sleeping early this morning, I’ve been up thinking about a few things. How we can make it work. Pretty sure Indy staying in Whispering Oaks is out of the question, which had me thinking about what I can do to move heaven and fucking earth to load every damn thing up and make the long haul to Seattle.

“Oh, I plan on it.” I slide her down the length of my body, allowing her to feel exactly what she does to me. I’d love nothing more than rip my shorts off, divest her of her pretty clothes, and bare her to my eyes. Fuck, been dreaming about it, and almost gave in last night. Didn’t think asking her to switch to a video call mid-orgasm would go over well. And the last thing I wanted was to lose her voice, take her out of the moment, and not be able to come right along with her.

“I’m looking forward to it.” We walk further into the house, where I’ve got a spread on the counter.

“As am I.”

“Ah, Toren. How many people are you expecting to eat breakfast with us?” She looks at the spread and back to me.

“Might have gone overboard. Been up for a bit. Also didn’t know what you liked to eat. Most of this stuff I can put away and save for later.” The biscuits and gravy, waffles, bacon, and fruit are always good for leftovers. The eggs, on the other hand, I’ll just dump over the neighbor’s fence to feed her animals.

“You think?” she teases yet heads right to where I’ve got two plates set out along with silverware.

“Whatcha want to drink? Coffee, orange juice, water?” I ask while she makes a heaping plate of waffles, bacon, and fruit. Duly noted that she stayed away from the more Southern style of food.

“Coffee and water, please. What can I put on your plate?”

“I’ll get it. You sit down and settle in.” Once she’s at the kitchen table, I drop off her drinks, do the same for myself, and then make a heaping pile of biscuits, a shit ton of gravy, and top it with scrambled eggs.

“I talked to Miranda last night, before, you know.” She tucks a piece of hair behind her ear, looking up at me with a slight blush coating her cheeks.

“And what’d she have to say?” I take my place next to Indy, my hand itching to touch her, but with her eating, I’m not going to be greedy when she’ll need her energy for later.

“She’s good with everything but wants the contract signed today and for me to be back in Seattle by the end of the week. So, I think we need to nail down a date and figure out how we’re going to make this work,” she says around a swallow of her coffee.

“Already got some of that figured out. I’ll need you to do some leg work today. I’ve got a goal to get this commissioned piece done today while you find a place where I can work at. Indoor studio, lots of windows, with a kitchen, bathroom, and living area attached would be preferred.” I take a bite, waiting for her response, and believe me, it’s gonna be a minute before she gets her wits about her. The only thing I’ll have to iron out with Jett is to see if she can push back a few things and book it to Seattle with her heavy schedule.

“Um, I think I missed a beat here somewhere. You’re going to work in Seattle?” She abandoned her food, opting to hold on to her cup of coffee.

“Yeah, my stipulation meant I get you. I can work anywhere, but your job is in Seattle. While mine won’t be easy to move, so long as you find what I’m asking for, it’ll just mean a long journey in the form of a car ride.” I figure I’ll trailer my gear; I’ve got a closed-in trailer, and while staying in a hotel will be out of the question with a rig attached, it’ll be more comfortable than a box truck.

“Wow. You weren’t messing around, were you?”

“Not at fuckin’ all. You gotta be back in a few days, and while I’d love nothing more than you riding shotgun next to me in the truck, I also know it’s gonna make for a long-as-hell haul. I’ll head out once everything is squared away. You can fly out and meet me at the studio once I make it into the city.” I’d been tempted to persuade her to ride with me, then thought better of it. Showers at a truck stop or not at all, the food is shit, and the sleep will nearly be impossible.
